As i am not into ski fi shooters (Titanfall, Destiny and Halo) and hardcore RPGs,

so i was not actually expecting anything good from these games, i would agree that the greatest dissapointment of them all was Watch Dogs. I had some really high expectations on this and it was the first time Ubisoft made me doubt them so much, just when they have raised to be my fav game maker...

What they did with the early misleading videos was unethical...

Definitely Watch Dogs what a horrible driving simulator compared to GTA V

@swedensior I'd say with Watch Dogs, Ubisoft promised us a game where complete control over our world and can do whatever we want. What we actually got was an average shooting/driving simulator with hacking elements.

I turned in thinking Sen and Lucy were going to have a wedding. They make such a cute couple.

Despite NHL 15's decreased game modes, you'll still get more than your money's worth playing:

Be A Pro Mode

GM Mode

Playoff Mode and

NHL Moments, even though they haven't added any for this season. They only have last season's.

I play it everyday.

They've added new strategies.

I haven't played Hockey Ultimate Team or online yet.

Great show. Thanks.

Thief is probably my disappointment of the decade, The Dark Project is my favorite game. Now when I talk about Thief I'm worried that people think I'm referring to the new one.

It's like they ripped the heart and Soul out of the series and replaced it with cardboard and urine.

I didn't remember that Thief had come out this year, seriously. I actually liked the game, except for the story, that aspect was a huge let down, it was good for like four chapters, and then it went downhill FAST. Other than that, I really liked the gameplay, it did a good job with stealth. I think many people dislike it because they compare it with Dishonored. It's not quite the same, in Thief you're just a guy with some cool tools and a nice set of skills, you don't have the ability to brink or slow down time, it is a different game indeed. Playing it on a more hardcore setting is actually pretty fun.

@veis117 Agreed. Perhaps people were overly negative to Thief because they expected the Earth (and possibly something more open and assassins creed esk) and what they got was a solid stealth game that didn't try to revolutionise the genre. Maybe if it didn't have the Thief name it would have faired better.

Never quite understood all the hate towards Watch_Dogs. I thought it was a great game. Incredibly fun throughout the campaign, with more interesting and tactical gameplay than anything in Grand Theft Auto, and some really enjoyable multiplayer invasions to keep you on your toes. The story and characters were also decent, although Aiden himself had the personality of a cardboard box.

Graphically, yeah, it wasn't the super next-gen experience everyone was hoping for, but it certainly wasn't bad looking by any stretch of the imagination. The intro sequence where you first walk out into the blacked-out world and all headlights cast long foggy beams of light was very next-gen looking to me.

I didn't buy into the hype for Destiny or Watchdogs but I was foolish enough to fall for the piece of junk that is Elder Scrolls Online. I love both Elder Scrolls and mmo's and that game still managed to disappoint me beyond anything ever.

@alpha_unit97 I'm just glad I played the beta so I could see it wasn't going to be able to deliver what I was wanting.

Oh and the pricing model for a PC subscription based MMO to be ÂŁ50 and ÂŁ80 collectors edition... absolutely absurd. I bought Rift CE for ÂŁ35 and it was totally worth it.

Watch Dogs is a great game BUT very disappointing compared to what we had been led to expect. Graphics looked nothing like what had been advertised and there wasn't nearly as much control over the city through hacking as the articles has inferred.

If it's supposed to be cool nowadays to hate popular stuff, how the hell have these sorry-ass disney-reject entertainers like Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift made any money? all they have going for them is popularity but it doesn't stop you morons from supporting them.

@palememories @moldyspud If it was a different site, fine. But this speaks for the whole site and it's contradicting itself. Why would you rate something high and then call it disappointing in a video... regardless of who has different opinions, it's the gamespot name saying these things.

@moldyspud I don't expect uniform opinions from Gamespot writers and editors. I don't want them all to feel the same way about games, and I don't want some kind of enforced echo-chamber where they're required to give color commentary only within the party lines.

I'll come here for an opinion or two about a game, stop off at IGN, drop in at Polygon (if I'm feeling pretentious), and any other number of sites. If I heard the same thing everywhere I went, I would be disappointed.

Then I'll drop down to the comments for a chance to see how all the reviewers are wrong.

@moldyspud @palememories Then maybe they expect the viewers / readers to be able to discern that one reviewer will write a review based on their preferences, and then not have to have the rest of the gamespot staff act in the exact same way about the same game?

Only reviews I trust on this site seem to be from Kevin and that's probably because he and I like similar games. The rest of them seem to just follow the trends.

Why would this site give 7/8 reviews to some of these games and then post a video about them being disappointing. This place is a joke...

@moldyspud Great games can still be disappointing, especially when you expected them to be amazing. After all, a 7 or an 8 is not a 9 or a 10. That's the problem with hype, it often creates unrealistic expectations, making perfectly fine games disappointing.

Besides, you should know by now that GS's scores only reflect the experience of the reviewer. It is accepted as such by the rest of the staff, not because they agree with it, but because the reviewer made a good enough case for the score. Whether or not that's the way it should be, is an entirely different question, but that's the way it is.

If you want cling to the idea that a certain label (catering to a wide variety of people) needs to present a single-minded message, then you're free to do so, but I'd say that's an extremely limiting view. Everybody knows the staff consists of more than one person, so it's easy to consider that there might be different opinions under the same roof. This whole thing would only be problematic if Kevin VanOrd (the reviewer) had appeared in the video saying that the game was actually bad.

@moldyspud Hype.

I loved Watch Dogs, I thought it was a great game. It was still disappointing compared to all the hype though. I expected a more mature, gritty story but the whole underground slave trade thing was a pretty small part of the story & the optional follow up missions were incredibly boring. There weren't enough different mission types & the protagonist had no real personality.

If anything, I would complain about the blatant hype pieces GS runs rather than the scores.

Also, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Watch Dogs if I'm correct.

A lot of the big games had more glitches and less polish this year, regardless of platform.

@KotomineKirei @Martyr77 You see, I quite like DA:I. Admittedly I hated the 2nd one because I was comparing it to the first, but maybe I liked the third one after comparing it to the 2nd... if you follow my logic.

Could also be that the year has been quite baron for good games. Only good game I've had on my PS4 is Shadows of Mordor which was great.

@Martyr77 Titanfall and MCC are rated 86 metacritic while Driveclub is rated 71. If there is any fail there its Driveclub. Once again you are showing your bias. New Years resolution: stop being a tool. Its beyond pathetic now.

He's a Sony fanboy jealous he's missed out on some great games this year. He does it in every Xbox thread.
