I agree but from a different angle.....

Agreement:

Yes Drive Club was meh and the AI wears you down but looks beautiful...

The Crew is interesting, they could have done away with the MMO parts though....Aside from the hot rod I haven't drove anything I really like in that game....stuff is too locked off as well, some missions are poorly designed as well....

I am a Forza veteran of the first 5 games, Forza 1-4 and Horizon 1....

differing POV:

Forza is just another yearly title and so loses much of it's appeal....I despise yearly games and this was a great series...

I didn't get that into Horizon honestly...with Forza I prefer the numbered titles....

no other racer currently measures up to forza....

the big issue is it's XBOX exclusive and I have no desire to get a X1 ever but even if I was gonna get an X1 I still say yearly title? piss off......IDG2F if it's this or COD or whatever, yearly titles don't deserve the time or effort.....

@MJ12-Conspiracy: You seem pretty clueless for such a vet. Horizon and Motorsport are two entirely different games, sharing the name only. So...it's not a yearly release, well the name is,lol. So what the hell are you whining about?

@MJ12-Conspiracy: MS have negatively effected the image of the FM series by lazily slapping the name Forza on Horizon. They did it just to give the brand a push out of the front door, but now people think of Forza as a yearly game.

It's a bit frustrating. This article wouldn't even exist if Horizon didn't have Forza in the name. It's like saying, 'I'm not getting GT5 because I thought PGR4 or TDU was great'.

well, i like both series. horizon is way more fun, but goes stale waaaaaaaay faster (i got bored of it after 2 months), while i can keep playing FM for years.

the way i play them is completely different.

in forza motorsport i love to:

- compare cars head to head on different kinds of events (spent a whole month just on indy vs f1 vs lmp)

- create custom race rules, usually involving different classes and delayed starts

- customize cars so the match my real cars that are not included in the game in every possible statistic (takes a lot of time when i have a new real car, because i need to benchmark it many times to get a good baseline performance, and then find a car in-game that can be tweaked close enough to those specs and fine tune it until i get the same 0-60, 0-100, 0-120, 0-150, 1/4 1/2 & 1 mile drag, similar weight balance and transfer, and so on)

- do time trials on real tracks and try to match real records

- do top gear track time trials and compared their boards

- do fun races with low grip or high engine handicap

and so on...

these give the game a almost infinite replay value. much longer than horizon's.

tbh horizon needs a bigger map. a MUCH bigger map. like the crew big. it would increase its replay value ten fold to me, because all i do is free roam. that small map gets old fast.

these shit articles sholdn't exist.

if i was a writer for GS the entire front page would be filled with them.

in other notes: i don't give a **** about what you're excited about or not. but the fact the you would go around shouting about it does bother.

haha , clever article name. Indeed Horizon 2 is such a liberating experience compared to Forza 5, it is hard to go back unless you are a fan of track racing. Myself I started out as a Forza motorsport fan, but then I played Horizon on the 360...I just had more fun overall ..crashing didn't necessarily mean the end of the race, and this is something I like a lot because it just worked better online.

Then Horizon 2 came out and just blew everything out of the water, I've got over 140 hours playtime and I'm nowhere even remotely done with the game, it's just that good. I'm very much looking forward to FM6, but the real jaw dropper for me will be the Horizon 3 annoucement.

Forza 4 was the last time I really enjoyed a track racer. I was never into Gran Turismo... I think the last time I enjoyed a track racer before Forza 4 was Sega GT 2002. I force myself to play GRID Autosport because I bought it on sale and it's just boring. Lifeless, soulless, sterile. The problem is that those games sell and other games like Blur don't. Blur barely sold over 30,000 copies in its first five days on the shelves. Every once and awhile a racer will come along and be profitable like Mario Kart 8 but it seems like people really don't want anything other than the same old track racing monotony. Personally I'd love to see a jam-packed and updated Initial D game (the arcade one), or at least a racer that plays like it.

@jinzo9988: you want that Tokyo Extreme Racer 2 on Dreamcast, flash lights and they race you, was cool and fun. Also could create your own sticker and have a race club on the streets. I remember people playing Initial D at arcade like crazy, would wear their card on shirt to school. Was cool.

Just buy a Wii U and Mario Kart. Youll be happy then. Can race regional or worldwide, fun, fun, fun. Can also do local 2 player online, pimp tight.

I would have waited another year before announcing F6.

Regarding the video, I completely disagree with it. When I play a car game I wan't it to be as less arcade as possible, so games like The Crew and Horizon are my nightmare as a player. Even Driveclub seems a bit awkward to me. Of course to each it's own, I understand that other people like those games. But to me, the basics of a good car game is the challenge of mastering a car and a track. Trying to shave that second on a lap.

Add real tracks you can visit inside of Forza Horizon then you have the best of both worlds.

Well it's hard to be excited about something you know nothing about. They haven't shown or said anything about it except "Here's a pretty car, by the way Forza 6"

I get what you mean though. FH2 is the first racing game i've found any amount of enjoyment in since the days of NFS Underground

Turn10 should just stop making the real game so Playground games can pump out spinoffs every year? Yeah, no.

Wait for 2016 when FH3 will inevitably drop. I love sim racers and forza 6 will be the best one.

Racing games of late focus on too much realism and are boring as a result. Even today's arcade racers. My favorite racing games are Burnout 3: Takedown, Ridge Racer 6, and Crash 'n' Burn. Each for different reasons. But the one thing they have in common is fun over style. There are too many racing sims lately with more on the way.

But yea, it's too soon for F6. I went from F1 to F5 and gameplay wise - can barely tell the difference.

@Sevenizz: You and me both. Racing sims are stale, bland and boring to me. I much rather play Ridge Racer, Burnout or Split/Second type racers.

His description of DriveClub is exactly how I feel about it. Horizon 2 is just load of fun, especially when you play online with friends and other gamers. Going off road and flying through tree, bushing and throw fences is exhilarating. I'm hyped for Forza 6 as well. This time it will include everything that F5 was missing, plus more. Now we'll get day/night and weather effects like rain, snow, hail, fog, etc.. I'm not wasting my time with "The Crew", but will take a glance at Project Cars to see how that turns out.

While most sim enthusiasts will quite happily play the more arcade offerings like FH2, the reverse is not true. Sim racing is all about tuning and laps, trying to cut as much time from a lap as possible and this isn't something that everyone will really enjoy. If FH2 has killed your excitement for FM6 then you are not the audience that FM6 is targeting.

@pspearman:

I wonder if FM6 will annoy me in the same way that FH2 did. The annoying characters in that game and being constantly forced to go onto road trips significantly impacted my opinion of the game. I sure as heck would have enjoyed it more, if the game let me stay in one region and focus on it. And there was too much blabbering about crap I already knew and the fact that I couldn't skip any of it made me mad. Someone should tell Turn 10 to never attempt anything even remotely resembling some kind of story.

@deadeternityx@pspearman: Hhhmm.. you're not forced to do anything in FH2. Also, Turn 10 didn't develope FH2. It was Playground Games. They also made the firsst Horizon game. You don't have to do the Road Trip if you don't want to. You can just do the races in the city you want to race it. Race online against others in that area. Chase down other drivers and start a race with them. The skies the limit in this game.

in other words, this reviewer prefers arcade racers over simulators. nothing wrong with that opinion but it's the classic apples to oranges comparison and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. people play racing games for different reasons.

FH2 is great, but it's not really a simulator to me. Sure, you can ramp up the difficulty to make it more realistic, but the off road element kind of ruins it. I liked the game, but it doesn't do for me what Motorsport does. I'm a lot more excited about 6 than I was for FH2.

@chaos-06: It's incredible how much fun Forza 5 is once you've played Horizon 2 for weeks and months.

It's incredible how little effort they put into Horizon 2 when you compare it to Forza 5 which came out like more than a year before it.
