Which console is the most powerful? On paper, Microsoft's Xbox One X console is the most powerful system with its 6 teraflops of performance. This is over 4.5x of that of the original Xbox One and 1.4x the PS4 Pro, its closest console competitor.

No Caption Provided

Which console offers the most storage space? The console that currently offers the most storage space out of the box is the 2TB version of the Xbox One S. It’s worth mentioning that you can swap out the storage drives on the PlayStation 4 consoles, which is something Xbox One systems currently can’t do.

Which console is the smallest? Being a handheld console, the Nintendo Switch is the smallest system here measuring 4x6.8x2.1 inches.

Which console is the heaviest? While the Xbox One X is the smallest Xbox console yet, it's also the heaviest out the bunch, weighing in at 8.4 pounds.

It seems to me that one of the few remaining arguments for the existence of consoles (PS4 / Xboxone / Nintendo) is now a moot point. That is, when one buys a console you have 5-7 years of games that are perfectly optimized to run on that console system. With these new versions (PS4 pro and Xbox one Scorpio) game developers may focus their attention on optimizing for the higher spec'd systems leaving those with vanilla PS4 and Xbox one in the dust, that is unless you upgrade.

I no longer see any benefit to the consumer buying a console as they are merely a closed system PC that cannot be upgraded, cannot be modded, and have far less functionality and games to choose from. STOP wasting your money on consoles and their games people! Don't let the marketing teams of Sony and Microsoft manipulate or mislead you into buying into their inferior ecosystem of products.

@yabloyoynk: Because the vast majority of gamers (that is, the folks that don't come to game sites and all that) have absolutely no idea what PC parts do, how to upgrade them, how to mod them, etc. They want to plug in a box and have it play the games they want to play. Heck, I DO know enough about tech to game on PC, but, I must admit, not having to keep up on all the vid card news, not having to shop around for good deals (and troll the shell shocker deals on newegg), not having to always be thinking "Is now the time to upgrade? Or six months from now?" has its advantages. Sometimes I just want to throw up my hands, plug in a box, and play what I want to play. And I AM someone who goes to gaming sites! Most people who play games do not. They aren't going to ever know, or want to know, enough to handle playing on PC.

@olddadgamer: So am I. I game on Xbox and PC, however PC is much more of a hassle. I do prefer the console because with today's games on PC, requirements are so strict nowadays to the point where you upgrade your GPU than your whole console. The prebuilt hardware holds up for...let's say about 6-10 months, and like you said, new GPUs are releasing.

@blitzking: wrong.....hardware is lasting longer and new games are not forcing people to upgrade like they did even 5 or 6 years ago.......new games can be run on 4 to 5 year old hardware without issue......you could have built a 2 grand PC in 2006 and not even had it run crysis in 2007.....today that just does not happen as most new games run well on anything over a GTX 660....a almost 5 year old card......

@smokerob79: And who the hell wants to spend all that? Just admit that the console is more convenient than the PC despite the PC being more powerful. And I doubt that a 5 or 6 year old card can run something like Witcher 3 or soon to come out Battlefield 1 without any fuzzy textures or rips.

@blitzking: a 4gb 770 got 60 frames in BF1 beta and ran witcher 3 at all high settings as i said 4 to5 year old video card........and i did not say anything about spending money.......i said a 2 grand PC from 2006 could not run crysis in 2007.........my last computer with a i5, GTX 970, 256gb ssd drive and 1 tb storage drive cost about 550 to build.......did you know a 400 dollar console with 5 years of online will cost you a total of 750???

@olddadgamer: They don't need to think about upgrading their PC. Just purchase a prebuilt system like an alienware alpha (R2 version sells for $499, you can find the R1 (version) for $350) and play games on your steam library, GoG library just like a console. Plus, if you want to use it as a PC then go ahead.

My point earlier is, now that consoles are being upgraded on a 1.5 year cycle, they no longer have the distinctive advantage in optimization, just as PCs now. You can buy a $300-400 PC or steam machine, and within 4-5 years, when you feel that this system no longer performs well enough to run the most current games available, you buy a new system. It appears that Sony and Microsoft are doing the same thing now with this 1.5 year refresh cycle.

@yabloyoynk: why buy a junk PC every 4 or 5 years when i can just upgrade a GPU and then later on a motherboard, memory and CPU???...most gamers if they got good parts in the first place can keep the case, power supply, harddrives, SSD drives, bluray drives and even copies of windows if they got retail version........the steam boxes that cost less then 700 bucks in most cases SUCK.....if it has a i3 its not gaming ready no matter what people say....will it run yes but it wont run even on the level of the consoles......(i owned a alienware that is running a i3 and a 950).....i gave to my mom to watch movies on and make it her main computer......my out dated AMD 955 over clocked to 3.8ghz with 8gb of memory and a GTX 970 killed it playing BF4 and a ton of other games.....and no the 970 would not fit the case......i tried it with a PC-E 16 riser and a 750watt PSU sitting out side the case but still got better frame rates with a my old AMD set up with the 970.......i will say i would have kept it if the case would have supported a real power supply and the 970 as i would have dropped a i5 in it.......

@yabloyoynk: where are you getting this 1.5 year refresh cycle for consoles? It's been out for 3 years now. When the Scorpio releases it will be 4 years.

Well the gamer score put the 360 ahead for me, even thought the PS3 was a stronger system. This year it's the PS4 because it's stronger. Next year it's looking like the XB1 S is going to be the main one if it stays this way. I have no loyalty. :)

@zyxahn: The PS3 was never the stronger system. It didn't use unified system and video memory so the early games suffered and did not look or run as well as on the 360. And the specs on current gen systems are so similar and the games look so similar that it isn't worth mentioning.

@externalpower43: you obviously don't own both a ps4 and an Xbox one. You must not have ever read any comparison articles between the 2 consoles either. Ps4 is more powerful.

Never really understood the spec wars as far as consoles are concerned. You certainly don't want a weak console... but if specs are your thing. Go PC. Personally I own consoles as well... but given how blurred the lines are now these may be the last consoles that I buy. Maybe with the exception of Nintendo if they release something awesome.

@blitzking: Blah blah blah... did you read the OPs comment"MS kicking ass and taking names"??? Calm down... Scorpio will be great, just sick of hearing about a made up console 14+ months from release.

P.S.: You commented 8 times today alone! All pro xbox fanboy comments. Halarious.
