We’ve highlighted a few interesting tidbits below:

Which console is the most powerful? On paper, Microsoft's Xbox One X console is the most powerful system with its 6 teraflops of performance. This is over 4.5x of that of the original Xbox One and 1.4x the PS4 Pro, its closest console competitor.

No Caption Provided

Which console offers the most storage space? The console that currently offers the most storage space out of the box is the 2TB version of the Xbox One S. It’s worth mentioning that you can swap out the storage drives on the PlayStation 4 consoles, which is something Xbox One systems currently can’t do.

Which console is the smallest? Being a handheld console, the Nintendo Switch is the smallest system here measuring 4x6.8x2.1 inches.

Which console is the heaviest? While the Xbox One X is the smallest Xbox console yet, it's also the heaviest out the bunch, weighing in at 8.4 pounds.

We know nothing about this Scorpio thing... yet Xbox fanboys and girls will defend it's perceived supremacy over the PS4P. What a joke ! 6 teraflops is nothing to brag about unless the devs, including Microsoft's first party studios come up with IPs to showcase the system's power. If the Scorpio is capable of TRUE 4K gaming, I mean not upscale, but PURE 4K native gaming at 60fps, then I WILL buy one. Or, being a PC gamer and all, I could do it on my PC. In fact, I can game in 4K right now with my GTX 980 (not Ti) but at 25-30 fps. I can game at 4K with 60fps ONLY if I spend nearly 1000$ and get the GTX1080 or the TitanX. I am not willing to do that with my current budget. So if Microsoft can give me true 4K gaming at 60fps with the Scorpio priced between 400-500 dollars; I am in ! Until then, I am not buying into how superior Scorpio is compared to the PS4P. Cause remember folks, SONY could end up having the best exclusives on the Pro, compared to nothing to play on the much powerful Scorpio. Cheers.

@starjay009: haha. You're overcomplicating your decision a bit there.

Look at it this way.

Ps4 to ps4 pro isn't a massive jump in power. It's twice as much. But confirmations from the announced specs at E3 show that they have 6 tflops in the Scorpio. Along with high fidelity vr, which is going to be oculus.

Just that on its own speaks volumes man.

Look at how seriously people took 900p compared to 1080 p. It was on a 0.40 t flops difference. No one paid attention to the fact that Xbox as a console had a slightly faster processor and could do much more, like back compatibility, snap, Xbox live. Etc etc.

Now compare 4.1 teraflops to 6 teraflops.

These are factual specs. Plus you get blu Ray drive in there. And high fidelity vr, I.e oculus, which runs at a way higher resolution than psvr.

I have tried psvr.

And I have the oculus sitting next to my pc.

It's a very easy choice to decide which has the massively better experience.

Rumors are Scorpio will be priced 499.

If it's priced at that, PlayStation will be on the losing end for a while. We will see.

@wayneextremity: Scorpio won't be 499. Microsoft has already said that it will be a 'Premium Product'. My guess is it will be somewhere on the lines of 699.

@crusadernights:

Premium pricing, in retail terms, stands from 500 dollars plus.

Console pricing at 500 when Xbox one Kinect was released was called premium by every retailer and site. Same with the ps3 launch .

I.e it will not be under 500 dollars.

If you say 699, you're looking at a pc of that power. Which isn't what a console aims at. A console aims at a lower price point than pc.

Digital foundry also did a price comparison of gpu relativity. They said the Scorpio would at most land around 100 dollars more than the PS4 Pro.

Which makes sense in terms of specs and everything MS has said so far.

Haha also, I'm sure the 'premium price' comment is clever marketing. They want to keep the Xbox one s selling hot. It's doing so well, it must have been successful as a tactic.

@starjay009: Yeah, we do actually. Vega ATi architecure for GPU rated @ 6TFLOPS the 320GB/sec RAM bandwidth when paired with Vega architecture means it will have to have 12GB RAM. MS have Horizon 3 and Forza Apex running in 2160p on PC so I'm sure they know what hardware is required to do it on Scorpio. Xbox has DX12 and sony would have to license it so they use OpenGL.

I'll bet there will even be a Scorpio/Occulus Rift bundle for $999.95

@simplytheebest: If they offer the Scorpio/Oculus bundle I will for sure pick one up. I hear the Oculus reviews are really good compared to Sonys PSVR headset. I do have both systems right now but I seem to be playing the Xbox more only because of all the great games they have coming out.

@starjay009: Neither console will give you true 4K gaming on a $400 budget. Pipe dream. What i hope for is that they make 1080p at 60fps more reliable or even 2K at 60fps. You can build a $500 4k PC, it will be better than either of the consoles but still has trouble with 4K, it's just not there for native.

@G4mBi7: Yeah I find it hard to believe the PS Pro will be true 4k at 400 dollars and HDR is not the same thing. I also don't understand why they didn't put a UHD 4k bluray player in it.

@G4mBi7: it's not a 400 budget. It Will be closer to 499/549, and well worth it.

At that level of gpu bandwidth, achieving 4k 30 isn't that hard. I've got a gtx 1070, which is in the same line of power. If I can use oculus on Scorpio, which has a much higher res than Samsung gear/psvr, I think it's well worth the money.

Add into that all the great features x1 has right now and that is almost a perfect machine for the price.

I love my csgo and I did many years of BF on pc but. Xbox live has been way better with online for me.

@simplytheebest: 3840x2160 which high end PC's run at 30 FPS.

1440p is (2560x1440) which can be run at 30, 60 or 120 FPS or more on a high end PC.

The names 2K and 4K are just very misleading.

No games will run natively at 4K for either console at a decent frame rate. Have you ever tried playing 4K with 10FPS stutters, it's horrible. Also, 4K is minor, it's a very small deal and a fad because you won't notice the difference unless you're actually sitting right in front of the TV. 2560x1440 at 60 or 120 FPS and then throw in all the updates to different lightning techniques and masks applied and i'll be one happy gamer.

For any idiot who actually keeps saying 1080p is 2K, it's NOT!

720p = 1280x720
1080p = 1920x1080 Full HD, FHD, HD, High Definition
WUXGA = 1920x1200
2K = 2,048x[unspecified] (usually on projectors)
UHD = 3,840x2,160 Ultra HD, Ultra-High Definition
"Cinema" 4K = 4,096x[unspecified]

It's only being called 4K because the gaming industry is popularizing the term since it sounds better than 2160p

@G4mBi7: We know what 4k is. 2k is 1920x1080 FYI. Misleading only for you. Scorpio isn't out yet, but Forza Apex and Horizon 3 are running in 4K. Don't ever tell other people what they can see, I heard the blind clowns saying you can't tell between 720p and 1080p last gen, anyone with 20/20 can.

@G4mBi7: dude.

Have you ever seen 2k upscaled to 4k?

It simply looks like slightly cleaner 1080p stretched out.

Which is nothing like the sharp clarity of true 4k.

Also, 6 tflops are definitely enough for 4k 30 in many games. My gtx 1070 is close to that, and it gives me steady 4k 30 at high settings, not ultra.

And this is on pc. Consoles have specialized settings and low level access for the gpu power.

@simplytheebest: No one is running 1440p TV's. Your choices will be either 1080p or 2160p. *If* Scorpio is actually as speculated at around 6tflops ( about the same as a 980ti (ish)) then it can probably handle many games at 4k at around 30fps (ish). Real 4k, not the fake 4k that PSPro is doing. And then 1080p games at 60fps (ish). Which features will be enabled for each resolution TBD to maintain those fps marks.

@JEF8484: Yeah I kind of wish I waited when we bought our 2014 4k Samsung TV because I had no idea HDR was coming out in 2015. It can be upgraded to get HDR with a one connect box but I am sure it is not the same as the new TV's that have it built in.

you should wait for the Pro to come out to do that...if you plan on getting one. After seeing games on PC- I might have to get a Pro- considering it would be hundreds more for a PC at the same performance- plus no Horizon, TLOU, etc at that level.

@stickybun: In reality. Google it. Also I posted a link elsewhere in this conversation. 2048x1080 is 2k (cinema). TV's at home just us a slightly different resolution of 1920x1080. Nowhere ever has 1440 been 2k.

Or maybe my replies were just deleted? Not sure what happened. Either way google 2k resolution, its really not that hard.

@mikemurphy80: It comes down to what TVs display. New TVs are either 4k or 1080p anything that would be presented in 2k on a consumer screen would either be down scaled to 1080p or upscaled to 4k. 2K by it's very definition is not 1080p though. What you're referencing is the limitation of TVs unable to present true 2k.

@stickybun: Try actually googling what "2k" resolution is. Its a standard resolution in cinema 2048x1080. The cinema standard 4k resolution is double that 4096x2160. If "2k" was 2560x1440 then "4k" would be 5120x2880, which of course it isn't. The WHOLE REASON its called "2k" or "4k" is the number of vertical lines of resolution "2048" and "4096". Nowhere in reality would "2560" be considered "2k".

Get a clue before babbling on and making yourself look like an idiot.

@mikemurphy80: When I am doing fx compositing/color and the camera is able to shoot 1080p or 2k I always tell them to shoot 2k. (hasn't happened in years - 4k), Simply put there is more information for me to use. More pixels. More color space information to work with. 1080p has the same vertical resolution as DCI 2K resolutions (1080 pixels which is what you are referring to), but it has decreased horizontal resolution below the range of 2K resolution formats. Simply put If 2k was just 1080p.... then it would be called 1080p. 2k is more or less irrelevant at this point anyways so its not worth arguing about. You can get into technicalities over what consumer TVs display... that's another discussion.The difference between 1080p is slight on a home projector or display, greater in a cinema... but it is there.

@stickybun: Ok, so this whole thread started with 1440p was 2k, which of course it isn't. You contend that 1080p isn't 2k, but that in fact it is what I said it is 2048x1080. Yes, TV's display 1920x1080 which is slightly different than the "official" 2k definition.

Problem with your argument is this though. We call 4k TV's "4k". The official definition of 4k is 4096x2160. TV's that we call "4k" run at 3840x2160. Yet we still call them 4k. You can't have it both ways. You can't call a 4k TV "4k" even though the resolution it uses isn't 4k and then claim a 1080p TV isn't 2k because the resolution is different. They're either both considered 2k/4k OR they're both considered 1080p/2160p.

@mikemurphy80: Well your dick comment to me must have been deleted... 2k has changed meanings since 4k came out... you never hear anyone say "wow, look at that 1920p tv" because they measure it vertically. As a marketing stunt to make it sound better, people now say "look at that 4k tv".. measuring horizontal resolution. It's super deceiving. And for the rest of us that know better 1080p was never considered 2k until recently... maybe you're really young, so I'll ignore your hate comments for now. Btw, if I'm wrong, just point it out next time. No need to be a complete dick on here.

Edit: And it seems you're right after researching it. I've just never heard anyone call a 1080p tv 2k before. 1440p is qhd, or 4 times the pixels of a 720p display. See how civil that can be explained? But thanks for the info... I'd always thought 2k was 1440p (as do others on here).

@mikemurphy80: Since it seems that you feel strongly about people getting educated. Here's one for you.

@rolento25:

AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor $149.99 Newegg comes with Free Deus Ex Game Code w/ purchase
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard $34.99 Newegg
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory $35.18 OutletPC
Hitachi 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $39.50 Amazon
Gigabyte Radeon RX 480 8GB Video Card $239.99 SuperBiiz
Xion XON-310_BK MicroATX Mid Tower Case $24.99 Amazon
Antec 450W ATX Power Supply $29.99 Newegg
Total PC Cost is 554.63 and steam os is free.

This PC is about (25-50%) better than the PS4P, can't compare it to scoprio since i don't know the specs.

The point is that you don't even need to do this, you can get a similar PC prebuilt with windows already installed for $300 USD from tigerdirect, newegg, or various other sites (monitor included), buy your own graphics card and put it in and you'll end up under $500.

This PC can play 4K but it won't be a stable 30 FPS and neither will the consoles, you need a high end graphics card for that, 2 would be best actually lol :)

@skipper847: Everyone has a PC we're not posting from gameboys. Many titles aren't available on PC, is that a news flash for you?
