Halo 2 Vista delayed again

Who the hell cares about some medicore shooter for PC? There's a million better ones. It's popular on xbox because all the other games suck. I can guarantee it will flop on PC. PC gamer gave it a 6.9/10 or 5.9, forgot.

People think that because Vista has "Windows" as part of it official name, then Vista will suck/it's an XP with a higher price tag... PlayStation VS. PS2? PS2 VS. PS3? Xbox VS. 360? They all use their older "siblings" names, but they different from them. The same goes to Vista. And now, about the (official) delay... Come on! Review copies were sent a month ago. a M-O-N-T-H ago. usually review copies are sent a few weeks prior to a game's release, right? So why sending review copies for a game that (officially) will come out a month later (and let us hope that MicroSoft won't delay the launch... AGAIN). Maybe they want the Halo 2's (PC) and Halo 3's (360) launches will be at the same time? At this rate, expect a 20+ delays...

Yeah well back around May 8th I was thinking I would get Halo 2. I read the books, I played the first halo, I'm interested, but I was more looking forward to Shadowrun. Then they delayed it to the 22nd, and I thought, fine I'll just wait until then. Now it's coming out after Shadowrun... and I'm thinking I'll just play Sahdowrun, and if it dissapoints then I'll consider Halo 2.

Please cancel it and make it HL3.

ppl who complain about Vista, wth are u guys complaining about, i been runnin it for the last 2 months and nary an issue, except oblivion, but that was not vistas fault. You know its the same story every time a new windows OS comes out. "It doesn't work" "I hate it" " we already have a fine OS, why do we need this" Its all just a big complaint mostly from ppl that don't wanna drop the cash on a new os. Then there are those that say they go back to xp. these are nerds beyond explanation that sit back looking at vista and say to others "My old line codes and personal files aren't cross refrenceing, and they ruined all my 6 year old games" And i am somewhat one of them but the games will get updates by others who can mod, and you will eventually get well versed in vista, just as you got well versed in xp. Quit taking every mention of vista as on oppurtunity to bash on windows. If it is so terrible go get linux and shut the f*** up plz.

iam not 2 worked abt halo 2 as it is halo 1 was bad enough on the pc n now we have 2 put up with halo 2 now

Unless you plan on switching from nVidia and Creative hardware to other companies, or, upgrading your machine to a new one, you wont see any better. As my message below shows, it is the DRIVERS that are the problem, not the OS itself. Check again once nVidia and Creative get their heads on straight and out of their rears. (Though I do have to give credit, nVidias new 8800 driver gave me ((a 6800 user)) a decent boost in performance and stability. But, even basic features are still lacking in the driver, which is what really blows my mind. I mean come on, its been almost 6 months and we still dont have a way to reduce DVI flicker :\ (Other than switching back to VGA, which is what NV recommends lol)

Wow this is getting really annoying for those who want to get it. I think they are 3 years to late to bring this game to the pc. Especially when u have it on vista. And windows live is really stupid. Another way for microsoft to get money. They make u pay for internet why pay for online when u already have internet.

I'll wait a couple of months before I get this as the on-line community will have time to make some pretty cool maps, hopefully.

ldonyo: Because Gamespy sucks bigtime. I bought Neverwinter Nights 2 to play with a friend of mine and after about 4 hours of trying to play together online we finally just gave up and haven't touched the game since. Now Steam is better example of a nice free service.

It is stupid to buy it right now for this game, but as more and more games become vista only, you will then need to buy it.

Vista has many many improvements as an OS, stability, ease of use, appearance, etc. The difference is, this isnt a game system. Its an OS, that is used for many purposes, INCLUDING gaming. The network stack is better on Vista, IE7 is better on Vista, Media Center is better on Vista, all of those things might seem trivial, but they do not only come in handy, but once you have used it for awhile, some of the features you actually miss once you switch back to XP use. For example, the search bar in nearly every window. Say you are in the Control panel, and you need to find the gamepad section to configure your Wireless 360 controllers buttons on Vista (Which it supports), just goto the search and type game. If you click on the Start button (Windows button, whatever lol), and dont want to take the time to search through your Programs list, just to find that link to UT2004 (Unreal 2004), just type UT or Unreal. There are many many reasons to use Vista, the same as there were many reasons to switch from 98 to Me, and Me to XP, XP to Vista, etc. Microsoft isnt stupid...

This game has also been at wal-mart here (electronics is where I work) for about a week and a half (here in canada) where I physically stocked it sold them as well, I dont understand the whole delay ordeal...?

halo 2 is not that great. It seems great to console players. but for hardcore pc games who have a lot more multiplayer games to play. Its nothing special.

this game has been available at Circuit City for like 2 weeks now. so are they the only people carrying it early? I got mine last Friday and there are plenty of us on Live, so what is up?

It really does seem Microsoft is having trouble with releasing products. With the Xbox Elite, it was sold much much earlier than the launch date in a few large retailers...especially Wal-Mart. Now this game is being sold before the "official" launch date. I think it might not be the game itself...probably problems with Windows Live. *Goes back to playing Halo 3 beta...*

Seriously, does anyone really care anymore. I still believe that more than 50% of PC users don't have vista anyway. They are really targeting a niche market at this point. And unlike Halo which was a killer app which caused the purchase of Xboxs world wide, this game will NOT have the same effect on PC users clamoring to buy Vista. So if this is a marketing ploy, they are going to fail.

The problem most people are having, is simply with drivers. Both Creative Labs and nVidia have done HORRIBLE jobs with their drivers, promising things to consistently only break said promise. Once the drivers shape up from major manufacturers such as them, most people will have a fine time with Vista. But thats the problem, Creative Labs (Sound cards) and nVidia (video cards) are two of the most used components, as well as two of the larger companies, so in turn most people will have their products, and in turn will have bad Vista experiences. I know I am running Vista right now, on an old machine that I built long ago, and each and every device works fine (Aside from problems with drivers from Creative and NV). Further, speeds in games vary, as the drivers of course have ALOT to do with that as well, some games run better than others. UT2004 for example, now runs the same or better on my machine than it did on XP on the SAME MACHINE. So to end it all, people need to take another (EDUCATED) look at Vista, when they have the time to actually do the work it takes to switch to a new OS. Just because it still says "Windows", doesnt mean it is the same Windows you have been using, as most of the OS has been rewritten from the ground up, requiring new drivers and software updates to ensure compatibility and speeds are up to where they once were, and in the future, faster than they were before. (Again, unless you are running ancient equipment.) I just wish people would quit running their mouths before they know what they are talking about, especially, when they are proving they themselves dont know what they are talking about/doing. (FYI - My Vista machine can stay running nonstop for weeks, including gaming, TV watching and recording (And streaming to other rooms), etc. Without crashing or rebooting frequently. So again, I know first hand that is simply wrong.)

The only people "highly anticipating" Games for Windows LIVE work for Microsoft. With GameSpy being free, why would you want to pay for Microsoft's mess?

They need to make this a budget title or it's not worth it.

Um, yeah. I work at a Circuit City in Massachusetts and I have physically seen this game on the shelves and have sold at least 1 of them to someone who just upgraded their PC. This article confuses me, I don't know why Circuit City has it so early but lie I said, it's on our shelves and is being sold. Totally weird.

really i couldnt imagine vista owners getting so hopped up for a port of a game thats well over 2 years old. Flamethrowers and new levels are hardly worth the wait...

This story really doesn't make sense. I work at a Circuit City and we got the game in on 17th, but couldn't sell until the 22nd. It went on sale on Tuesday, having personally sold copies of it.

O well, I can't buy it anyway because I haven't upgraded to vista. But c'mon why delay it again? Makes no sense :?
