I think PS3 has a strong line-up now. They should be fine and I hope diversity in gaming continues. If MS gets all these games what is stopping them from getting lax ... they are in it for money not because of us consumers ...

Um can we really stop with this PS3 outselling 360 in EU crap. It was only a week, and 360 dominated during the week of Halo 3 in EU so nooooooo, the PS3 has not done anything to the 360 in EU. It was just a spike due to the 40GB release. << LINK REMOVED >> just as 360 had a spike with Halo 3, ps3 had a spike with ANOTHER price drop and ANOTHER model (called desperation my PS3 fanboys). It is good to see PS3 doing good, what's interesting is no one brought up the fact that the ps3 sold more than the week the week before, they have had two good weeks of dominating sales in EU after the drop. But the increase is leveling off, and don't forget that xbox 360 was beating the ps3 handedly in EU before that drop. The fact that the ps3 was released a year after the 360 and was being outsold this whole time by the 360 is a testament to Sony's desperation. They are selling ps3's waaaaaay below the cost of making them, and i'm sure the sony fanboys were all over microsoft for A. selling the xbox at a good lost.....B. selling more than one version............PS3 has came out with two different versions in 4 months along with price drops. But look at it from a year to year basis. 360 started off with a 2 million console lead on the ps3 and now the ps3 is JUST starting to bring that lead back down to 2 million, they have made ZERO progress in Europe. In the US, the Wii JUST took it's top spot back from the 360 which no one posted. The ps3 is still getting curb stomped and it's worst, i believe the week of 10/20 360 sold 135k vs PS3's 26k. Bad. They haven't gained at all in a year, the gap has widened my friends. And last week, the Wii is now back on top but ps3 is still getting curb stomped. Year 2 Date...........360 originally had a 3 million lead on Ps3 and now they have almost a 6 million console lead. NOT GOOD AT ALL!!!!!! RESEARCH HELPS PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

Looking at last week compared to this week, the Wii actually increased its lead against the PS3.

Wii: 24,932 last week, 27,502 this week, increase of 3,570. PS3: 17,130 last week, 18,785 this week, increase of 1,655.

@carljohnson3456 metc123 never called the xbox or n64 a failure but they weren't as successful so he is right there, even though he types like an idiot. there really is no killer app on the ps3 YET. not to say there havent been good games (despite how short some can be). but NO KILLER APP. take your head out of your a$$ and look at the game selection and you tell me which one is the killer app. it's definitely not resistance, just because it was the only game worth playing at launch does not make it a killer app, none of the other launch titles were that good, heavenly sword was sweet, but only lasted 6 hours, motorstorm was really lacking in features, don't even get me started on LAIR, and the list goes on. honestly, where is that killer app you were talking about? i'm excited for uncharted though, so we'll see how that goes and ratchet and clank is good too, but still not a killer app. so you can go ahead and close your eyes and turn your head as well because you're just like the other sony fanboys.

Lol, worst article EVER. This isn't even close to what i'd call a gain on Nintendo. It barely increases their paltry sales in Japan. Sony will need a couple more price drops at least to catch up and even then it'd only sell cause of Blu-Ray. What a joke of a system, I hope FF13 and MGS4 get ported because those are the only games I want on the system.

Take two minutes out of your time and read the same article written by a non-gamespot employee.. "The Nintendo Wii is still outselling the PlayStation 3 by 2-to-1 in Japan, although the gap between the rival formats has closed for the fourth consecutive month. The latest figures released by Enterbrain and reported by Reuters show that Nintendo shifted 110,415 units in the four weeks to October 28, while Sony sold 47,183 PlayStation 3 units."

I actually regret not purchasing an Xbox alongside my PS2 last gen. All of those games are great, but you can close your eyes and turn your head away from those games if you want. I dont have a problem with saying the title of this article is deceiving, but I think it's talking about week to week sells, and the PS3 is getting a couple thousand closer to the Wii this week. You people keep talking about X360 systems braking down, but when I bought mine it was when that whole fiasco started. My system did, however, have the rings of death a couple of times....but I unplugged it and it worked. Its works fine now. Maybe you guys should of tried unplugging your xboxs' and turning them back on??

Honestly these numbers don't mean a whole lot to me right now, even with my being a Nintendo fanboy and huge supporter of the Wii. Let's check out some numbers after the holiday season and then we can have a serious discussion about who is doing what and why some consoles just aren't selling as much as others. The big games of the year haven't come out yet so things can easily change, especially with the huge lineup happening starting right off in 2008. So right now I'm not too concerned with how well the Wii is still doing and how the PS3 is still attempting to try and close the gap on a console that really isn't a console. @ Chirico_Cuvie What's wrong? Do you think that mindset of the Wii not being a real game console is going to change the fact that the PS3 can't even come close to touching an over powered GameCube with a completely new controller setup? Its amazing some of the games coming to the Wii in the next year or so, especially with it not being a real game machine. Things like Tales of Symphonia 2 and Spore must not be real games. I guess real games take forever to come out and get pushed back time and time again (lolMGS4). Whatever you say, and whatever you think won't change the fact that the PS3 can't even come close to the 360 or the Wii in terms of sales. People knocking the Wii because it doesn't have the same motives as the PS3 need to grow up and realize that just because its not a game that has blood, guts, violence, and swearing, doesn't mean its not a game. I can promise you that Super Smash Bros. and Super Mario Galaxy will crush any game the PS3 has or will have in over all sales. Metal Gear Solid 4 or Grand Theft Auto 4 might come close, but they won't beat either of those 2 games out. Oh yea, another thing, if the DS and Wii are a child's system, why is the DS still crushing not only the PSP, but the PS3 as well? You'd think a console as powerful as the PS3 could easily beat that second rate piece of junk DS Nintendo is doing so well with. The new PSP model only got 3 weeks of beating the DS Lite which has been out for awhile now, so where's your excuse there? Numbers don't lie, they never have, and by May or June of 2008 we'll be able to clearly see who is going to truly succeed this in this generation's console war and who is going to hang their head in shame. Well that is if developers can actually get their games for the PS3 out by then. Metal Gear Solid 4! Coming Soon! 2009! Oh I can see it now.

Why do some of you fanboys honestly believe GameSpot is bias against Sony? I just don't get it, do you only want to them post false positive news about the PS3? "PS3 is the new world leader; even though it has been outsold by the Wii and Xbox 360" I heard NONE of this when the PS2 raped the original Xbox and GameCube last generation. GameSpot is a gaming news and reviews site and it is their job to report news...even bad news about Sony's expensive toy. GameSpot would be bias if they reported it was all "Peaches and Cream" for Sony. Give me a break. But I don't hear Sony "Fannies" complaining when GameSpot reports about the 3 ROFD and the Xbox 360 (which I am affected by, as I recently sent my Xbox 360 in for repair).

gains means the ps3 sells more. The Wii is still selling more so it's increasing it's lead still. Even if the PS3 "catches" the Wii in weekly sales there's still 5 million more Wii's out there... So it can't just catch it has to outsell, which isn't likely to happen.

Watch people. When Brawl comes out, the Wii will be selling at an INSANELY higher rate than it is now. PS3 doesnt have a game of that gratitude to boost its system sales as much as SSB Brawl will boost the Wii's sales.

@metc123 - Wow dude. I'm 21 also, and I can tell you, if you ever see me make a post as childish as that one, please kill me. The PS3 is getting plenty of software, just incase you havent noticed. RFOM, HS, R&C, Warhawk, Motorstorm, and Uncharted (this month). I havent played MP3 (look forward to it though) and Galaxy, well, you havent played either. But if that's the only two titles you can tout for the Wii since it's launch last November, well, that speaks volumes of lack of games the Wii has. I like the Wii, but it's first party titles are about the ones I look forward to playing.

The headline is incorrect. 27,502 wiis sold vs. 18,785 PS3's sold gives you a difference of over 8,718 units in Wii's favor, the week before if you subtract 24932 wiis from 17130 ps3s and you get a diff of 7802. So not only is the headline wrong but its completely the opposite situation. I have all of them so I really couldn't care who sold more or less. But the headline is blatantly wrong.

@ mixmasterbru That's exactly it, in america we like to shoot things. so 360 is the console of choice for most americans. I have nothing against the 360, but I prefer adventure games and story-based games and Sony has control of both of those genres.

Kenji_Masamune do you know that a lot of older gamers grew up with Mario games and still play them. Mario games are great for anyone to play adult or child. The Japanese hold quality made products in high regard. The fact that the 360 has a very high defective rate is most like the strongest factor it does not sell well there.
