I know PAL games won't work on a domestic N64, but other than that, my knowledge on the subject is limited.

I picked up some decent stuff yesterday, and one great thing today.  Can you spot it?

  1. Kid Icarus, GB, n. mint, loose, $5.39
  2. Pocket Bomberman, GBC, v. fine, loose, $7.19
  3. Monster Rancher Battle Cart, GBC, fine, loose, $4.49
  4. Monster RAncher Explorer, GBC, v. fine, $4.49
  5. Trouballs, GBC, n. mint, loose, $2.69
  6. Final Fight Guy, SNES, ex-rental with small/medium front label damage, loose, $2
  7. Road Riot, SNES, n. mint, loose, $2

aspro73

Well I know like any well-adjusted sane person you dig Final Fight so I am going to guess FFGuy.  But Trouballs is pretty uncommon too.

Was I right?

Final Fight Guy is up there with Earthbound and Ogre Battle for costly and tough to find SNES games, and complete it's worse than those two.  There's a complete copy of FF Guy on eBay for $500 right now; the last boxed one that I saw was in the $150 range.

Picked up these for $13 total.  All complete (including registration cards etc), all in great condition.  If anyone can help me identify the three in the lower row on the right I'd appreciate it.

The ones I can identify are F-Zero X, Yoshi's Story, Zelda Majora's Mask, GASP and Super Robot Spirits.

As for whether they work, they all work fine on a non-modded N64.

darn nice pickups there man! for only 13 bucks too? Awesome bargain ;)

Ok this is part two of three of my little spending spree.

I need to build up my PS2 and Xbox collection :S

-_-Nintendo-_-

It's not easy retro shopping in AUS, but you seem to do a fine job getting those classics:)

you have to use a gameshark or action replay to play imports on N64... at least without a Japanese console... kick ass buys! waflerevolution

After reading up on the subject matter (being the hardware person I am :P) I finally got to the very bottom of the subject.

Is the N64 System region free?

The answer is...yes, the system is region free.

Here's why:

1. There's nothing in the actually system, no lock-out-chip, no nothing, to prevent you from playing an imported game on your console. Nothing is built into the console t say "don't play this game from Japan, play only US distributed games. The System couldn't tell a difference between a *** game and a US game if it's powrercord depended on it. =P

2. Nothing in the US or Japanese carts to prevent you from playing it on a US system either, no lockout chip, no programming, etc.

3. What will prevent you from sometimes playing a Japanese cart on your US N64 is the way it fits. (I'll leave it at that).

So there, mystery solved for playing Japanese games on your US N64. *tips hat*

and sorry if I have any typos, stupid Gamespot spell check is messed up.

Funny story there, when I brought the NES games today, the Pawn shop had a bunch of "non-working" N64 consoles, they were non-working probably becasue they were *** systems and they were testing them with PAL games or something. Either way I could have brought about 3 N64's for about 4 bucks each. Maybe I should go back and get em?

$500 is little high for a complete one and mine is loose with a scuffed label, but it's still a $40-50 game in that condition.

The last little bit of my quest. I found a video shop going out of business so I thought I would take a look at what he had. Turns out he was not only selling PS2 and Xbox, but PS1 N65 AND SNES games :D Well each game for the SNES was cart only with the box cut up to fit into a VHS case. There must have being about 100 or so SNES games and just about the same for PS1 and N64 games.

There were a few Good PS1 games but most were pretty damaged or missing manuals been ex-rental. Some decent N64 games but most had missing boxes or manuals. So I went to the SNES section.

I tried to pick the best games but there were just so many, it's a pitty I could not ring up some members from CCU to ask which ones to get.

So they were 15 bucks each but only 12 each if i brought 10 or more. So I guess I had to buy 10 :)

All games don't have manuals and the box has been cut up to fit into a VHS case.

SNES
Sparkster
Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel
Populous
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Street Racer
Young Merlin
The Firemen
Kirby's Ghost trap
Street Fighter II Turbo
Castlevania - N64

I could have picked some other games like a few battle toads games but I think I made some nice picks.

Next Store was a Pawn shop and I picked up these.

Theme Hospital - PS1, manual + disc only $7 AUS (dupe)
The Granstream Saga - PS1, manual + disc only $10 AUS
Blast Corps - N64, complete mint $15 AUS

Mortal Kombat gold - DC, complete $8 AUS

I think that just wraps it up for a little bit :)

Lots of great work in there.  I wish we could meet back at some kind of CCU headquarters every week to look through all the games that have been picked-up.  These last few posts are a lot to take in.

I tell ya, our purchases for the last few weeks have been solid all around. Every one of us has been posting solid acquisitions, one after the other. :) It's just amazing what we all have gathered in a sort amount of time.

Lots of great work in there. I wish we could meet back at some kind of CCU headquarters every week to look through all the games that have been picked-up. These last few posts are a lot to take in.aspro73
wouldn't that be cool! we SHOULD have a headquarters... but it'd never work...

Not games per se, but game related and still (I think) notable...

I received this because I ate a bunch of Eggo waffles and had $2.99 burning a hole in my pocket.

I got this because I ate a bunch of PopTarts...

parts excerpted from me bloggy:

From Kmart Clearance sales:

Sigma Star Saga, New, GBA, $15.00

Megaman ZX, new, DS, $20.00

Point Blank DS, new, DS, $20.00

---

"My mom told me, "why don't you ask that EB games
sore if you cna look at the games they got shipped in? I don't see why
they wouldn't let you look - you're there best customer! It can't hurt
to ask Corey."

So, I went to the store, and saw workers outside. Changing the sign...the store now reads Gamestop.
So from here on out, I gotta refer to the store as...Gamestop. I can
live with that..it's just a name, doesn't change what goes on in the
inside....*Cry*

Anyway, I asked and the woman who works in the
mornings said "sure." They can't put the games out because they are in
sleeve form. If they did, people wold thieve. So I looked through and
fond.... around 38 games I wanted. OO and here's what I bought:

(to
make this short and simple, these are all PSone games, disk(s) only, in
very nce condition, and include all disks (cause some of these have 4
disks or so! Non are GH copies either.))

So, here's the list of the PSone games I bought and their prices:

Strider 2 (2 Disks), $1.05

X-Men Mutant Academy, $0.90

X-Men Mutant Academy 2, $0.75

X-files (4 disks), $0.75

Vampire Hunter D, $1.50

Vagrant Story (2 Disks), $3.00

Wipeout 3, $0.30

Vigilante 8 2nd Offense, $0.60

Wipeout XL, $0.75

Wild Arms, $1.20

Ghost In the Shell, $1.80

Wing Commander III (4 Disks), $0.60

Yanya Caballista, $2.69 (Hold the phones, this says Playstation 2 oO! a mix-up, but in my favor )

Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI, (manual and game), $1.20

Superstar Dance Club #1 Hits!!!, $0.90

Legend of Dragoon (4 Disks), $1.50

Star Ocean: The Second Story, $2.25

Soul of Samaui, $0.45

Resident Evil 2 (2 Disks), $1.05

Tekken $0.60

Threads of Fate, $1.35

Bushido Blade 2 $1.50

Iron Man/ X-0 Manowar In Heavy Metal, $0.60

The Incredible Hulk, $1.20

Gundam Battle Assault $0.90

Gundam Battle Assault 2 $1.20

Guilty Gear, $2.25

Lunar: Silver Star Story (all disks), $4.50

Countdown Vampire (2 disks) $0.60

Contra: Legacy of War

Mega Man 8: $0.60

Mega Man X4 $0.75

Mega Man 8 Anniversary Edition $0.60

Mega Man Legends $1.20

Tekken 2 $0.75

Monster Rancher Battle Card Episode II $0.45

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature $1.20

And that's it..Wow, all those games! Lots of great stuff! The total before the 75% off, was near 300; after it was only 47 bucks with tax.

Now that's a Bargain Hunter's Game haul. I'm a collector and it shows.

and no don't intend to play all these games...well I do...somewhere in my life xD

I need to take pics, the sleeves all says differnt stores, Gamespot, EB games, babges, funcoland and others. I'm in shock from the haul xD

Hey, I just got 2 games from Toysrus.com.  Today and tomororw they have a BOGOF for games under $10 (online only).  Selection is fairly limited, but I got

Second Sight - XB

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - XB

for $9.98 + $4 shipping.  I mention it incase someone else is interested and also becuase by the time I get them I will have forgotten what I paid.

Also want to bring attention to Duncan's post in the Brand New Buried Treasue thread.  I took advantage of that as well.
