Fess up! Where did you get that cheap copy of Obscure? Tell me or I'll throw you off of a building. Not one high enough to kill you either!
Hehe, for some reason Amazon.com had it on sale for $10.61, so I pounced! :)
All prices are approximate because I don't have the receipts in front of me...
Toys R' Us-

-NHL 2K7 (X360), New/Sealed, $8
-Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 (X360), $8
GameStop-
-The Guy Game (Xbox), Used/damn near mint, $12 (I couldn't believe it was there in the first place, and once I got the GS stickers cleaned off of it, it was almost pristine. I now have almost the entire Xbox smut library taken care of...not sure if I should be proud of that or not...)
Best Buy-

I've been soo eyeing that game for a long time. I just can't bring myself to get it. Especially after my daughter was looking through my library and found Dead or Alive Extreme and started questioning why I would have such a game.

Lucky me! No kids!
That said, if I did have kids, games like that, DoA:XBV, etc. would probably get their own little place with lock and key.
Oh, and if you're looking at this game for it's excellent gameplay, don't bother. I made it through one set before I got completely bored.

I'd probably tell them something awesome like "because I wanted it unlike all the junk that I buy you. Now go [insert chore here]" or something like that.

3. Call Of Duty 2: Game Of The Year Edition (15$)

Good price.

I got this batch of five games at Toys R Us.. they keep adding new games to their clearance bin.. its the sale that keeps on giving!
Pc games are really my weakest subject in collecting, but I think you did good. Lots of fun you'll have I'm sure. :DI got some new games just a few hours ago.

I might have overpaid a little on The Darkness, as I've seen it lower, but the copy was immaculate.

Even so, its worth it.
The game is pretty awesome.

gmsnpr
Yeah I was in the same boat,
It and Fatal Frame II for Xbox are games that I wanted, but not enough to fork over the 40+ bucks for a game I may or may not play just so it would look cool beside its brother on the shelf.

How is that game? I really liked the first one, but never got a chance to finish it. I never get a chance to play JRPGs anymore.
Not Bad,
Honestly didn't think I would play this one for a while, but it sucked me in.
If you have played the original and you are able to deal with the frustration of the card based battle system then generally speaking you should enjoy it. The towns and level design is top notch and worth it even if to just enjoy art gallery-esk
The story seems pretty good,
Ooh. A new thread. Er, semi-new. Not old yet.
I disappeared for a week. Yesterday I returned with a copy of Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2. I also seem to be missing $18.93 from my wallet.
I started SRTOG and liked it, so it seemed like a good idea. :)

Well, she knows I collect games, and really that's the only reason that I have it. I've never played it, other that the few minutes that I gave it when I first got it. So that's what I told her. I have it purely for collecting reasons. She's not questioned me since so I guess that satisfied her curiousity. I don't keep any of my games under lock and key, but I do use the parental controls on the PS3 and 360.Can anyone please comment on my post, a few posts above, I want to know if I wasted 53$ on nothing, because I'm pretty sure I got some good gems there, Diablo II, CoD2.Dymond7PC games don't hold their value too well, and I don't pay much attention to them but $53 seems OK. I re-bought Diablo 2 and LOD in the last year or so for $20, so take from that what you will.

Those are all quality games and getting any good boxed PC game new for $15 or less is always a good deal.

All goodies. COD and Diablo are genuine classics. Jade Empire is a personal favourite of mine, although I preferred it on XB. Not quite as good looking but less buggy.
4. Diablo II + Diablo II Expansion Set (15$)Dymond7
I'd love to have gotten this deal. I just played through the first Diablo and it's left me wanting more. As such, I'm planning on picking up the Diablo warchest, but I'm not ready to pay $40 for it just yet.
New Acquisitions Thread Format Suggestions
The CCU's most popular series of threads is, without question, New Acquisitions. Considering that we're on volume nine now, there have been a total of well over eight thousand posts created. All that activity means that you could easily get lost in forty or fifty new posts if you miss a few days. In order to alleviate such troubles, the officers provide a few recommended guidelines for posting your fabulous new purchases in a streamlined and efficient manner.
1. Be as thorough as possible.
When listing your acquisitions, please include the following data:
Title - Self explanatory.
Platform - Hardware the game runs on; PS2, 360, DS, etc.
Condition - New or used, or a grading: near mint, fair, poor, etc.
Completeness - Complete, disc or cartridge only, etc.
Source - Where you purchased the item; eBay, GameStop, Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.
Price - Self explanatory.
Rarity - *See Below
This would cut down on the need for question and answer follow-up posts, such as: Q: "Where did you get that?" A: "From here.", Q: "For how much?", A: "Five bucks.", Reply: "That's a great deal!". Instead, someone could cut straight to the reply, "That's a great deal!", eliminating four question-and-answer posts. Follow-up posts that comment on the acquisition as a whole or a specific title, the quality of the pickup, a congrats, or things of that nature are very much encouraged.
Of course, it is not mandatory to include all of this information. You may very well not know the rarity rating, or you may not want to divulge the cost. But if you don't mind sharing the information, and you know it, please do include it.
(Just to note, as you're adding games to your GameSpot collection, you can copy and paste the link to the game into a message edit window. This saves on typing, and automatically puts the title, platform and a link to the game's GameSpot main page into your post.)
* If you have one of the Digital Press Collector's Guides please include the Rarity Rating. A detailed description of the Rarity Ratings provided by aspro can be found here.
2. Try to keep images to a minimum.
In consideration of members that may be visiting the union on a slower connection, please keep images in the New Acquisition thread to a minimum, both in terms of file-size and number of images.
If you've got a lot of pictures to post, or even a few larger ones, feel free to dazzle us from the comfort of the CCU Game Collection Photo Thread. After all, that's what it's there for, so go ahead and show off! We love pictures of towering stacks of games!
-------------------------
Hopefully, these recommendations will make the New Acquisitions thread a bit more manageable to read through, and content-consistent. Good luck with your purchases!
The point is to minimize, non productive follow-up posts. Like the:
I got this,
where?
Over here,
how much? $5.
Now after the $5 comment you might want to say, oh cool, nice price for that. That's good feedback. Follow-up posts that comment on the acquisition as a whole or a specific title, the quality of the pickup, a congrats, or things of that nature are very much encouraged.
Does that make sense?
Duncanr2n, that's a very good distinction! So good, I've added it to the post. Thanks for explaining it better than I could! :)
Also, I've created a new thread here so we can discuss these recommendations further. No need to discuss it in this thread as that kind of defeats the purpose! :P
Thanks all!

Some great deals there. Especially these. I wish they were available in my area.
Picked up Godzilla: Save the Earth (Xbox) New $5 from Kmart..
I went out to get the Mrs her Masters of Horror box set and some games followed me home. I also got a few games for free by dumpster diving, but I need to organize those to see what I got.
Worst Buy
Surf's Up (X360) - New - $9.99 - They had a table full of items that were 50% off. Being so close to 40k achievement points made this hard to pass up.
PaRappa the Rapper (PSP) - New - $14.99 - Another item from the bargain table.
Amazonian
R-Type Command (PSP) - New - $16.81 - This was too hard to pass up since it came with the figure that was only supposed to be available for pre order customers.
GameSatan
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures (X360) - Used - $39.98 - Complete - I don't see this game dropping in price any time soon and I really wanted to play it.

Yeah, there are some Greatest hits versions of games, that actually offer different content then the original release. Another note-able PS2 example is the GH version of Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3. It's main difference was to play with the Japanese soundtrack/voices in game.

Really? Ooh... thanks for that little bit of info. I might have to get the GH version of that one then. :)
If there are several other examples of this, it would make a fantastic CCU feature. The only other one I know of though is the obvious Devil May Cry 3.
