I believe that some of the models are just the cars from Gran Turismo 4 but have their details made higher resolution rather than actually modeling the cars for the new game. I can see why that would be the case but I dont understand why they have delayed the game as often as it has been if they were not making this game from the ground up.Garfield360UK
Possible causes of delays:
Premium Cars
Damage Rendering
Weather Effects
Day Time/Night Time
New Circuits
Addition Of New Features
Economic Crisis (?)
Attention To Detail
Number Of Cars
Etc.
Real causes of delay: Meetings Working slower than anticipated Overzealous with initial goals Meetings to determine the goals they can removeXSamFisherX
That doesn't sound very organised.
Remember, Polyphony is Japanese.

It showed the Stig in it!
I've got the Collector's Edition preordered and looking for a place to get the DFGT wheel.
The sad thing is I'll be really busy in November/December :(

DFGT?
I've pre-oredered the Signature Edition ;)
Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. It's the best wheel if you can't afford the G25/G27.janti_hakouz
I got the G25 over the G27 because the G25 is discontinued, harder to find and cheaper.

I wish I could find the G25 :(
All I could find is the wireless wheel from Logitech, which everyone knows is awful.Â

I got mine from eBay for £90, but it's much cheaper now.
OPMUK have a review next month, I bet it'll get 10 or at least 9.sambob530
Is that the Official Playstation Magazine? (I am not sure as there are others with similar titles, very confusing ammount of Playstation magazines back in the day) but at any rate I think it got 9 out of 10 as it was on the F1 game cover on the Playstation edition if my memory is right (which it could be not).

Seriously?
This is Gran Turismo 5 that we are talking about right?
They get access to GT5 a month before it's released???

My mistake, I was talking about F1 as I have seen both covers at work (for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3) but I have not seen Gran Turismo 5. Sorry for mixing up a bit.
I actually remember reading GT4 review(s) saying they docked it points cause of how long it took to come out. SchumiF1
What do you mean by "docked it points"?
On their score of the game.SchumiF1
Oh!
You mean they deducted points because of how long it tool?
How many points?
I honestly don't remember. This was like 5 years ago when GT4 just came out :lol:SchumiF1
Scored pretty highly anyways :D
Ya, and well deserved. I played a boat load of hours on GT4. SchumiF1
Same, managed to buy all the cars :D
If Gran Turismo 5 doesn't get a 10 out of 10 after 4 years of development, then I don't know what will...dabest2500A better game? Zing.

It got 9/10 in the Official PlayStation 2 magazine. The last Gran Turismo to come out on time was GT3 A spec, 9 years ago, which, unlike GT PSP and GT5, actually came out early enough to be regarded as a release game for their respective consoles.
Bad news...
"We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game's release will be coming this holiday season.
We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.
We'll have more information for you in the near future."

For some reason, this hasn't even been mentioned on the official GB Gran Turismo website, but has been on the Japanese one:
""PlayStation 3" (PS3 ®) only オンラインカーライフシミュレーター Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) regarding the release date of production, due on the date to November 03, 2010 **** original guide (Wed.) from postponed, we decided to launch the 2010 holiday season.

If its not on the GB website, it might just be for them putting it back a few days, We're due down for the 5th of November, and if they've not directly said anything to us, then why should we be worrying?
kipi19
Because they are witholding information
But seriously, at least Polyphony are testing there games extensively.
Its really not that I'd say, Its quite often than not licensing issues with the car, track and country people, that it wants an exclusive release day where no other good racing games are due out near it, so it gets exclusive attention.
kipi19
I think that's a good idea, place it a few months away from games such as F1 2010 and WRC so people can devote hours to that one game and not worry about any others.
Some car manufacturers have even asked Polyphony to put their cars in the game which shows how great they are :D
Not sure if yo've seen this yet but:
"Sony Computer Entertainment today announced a unique partnership between Gran Turismo® and Red Bull Racing to create a virtual car which will push the boundaries of motorsports. The Gran Turismo development team at Polyphony Digital posed the simple question, "If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform and how would it feel to drive?" With the assistance of Red Bull Racing's technology, Polyphony Digital were able to produce the answer in the form of the "X1 Prototype" which will be playable in Gran Turismo 5.
Red Bull's aerodynamics expert, Adrian Newey, performed the role of technical advisor on the X1 Prototype project. Newey is renowned in the motorsports world for designing championship winning cars. Throughout the X1 design process by Polyphony, Newey contributed his vast experience, as well as a pure, child-like technical curiosity. As a result, the completed X1 Prototype became an extreme car, having a unique form and mechanism unlike any other racing car in history.
Performing the shakedown test and settings for this Gran Turismo 5 car was the world famous driver Sebastian Vettel. On his first virtual lap, Vettel achieved an unbelievable time on the Suzuka circuit, beating the course record by over 20 seconds."
Every race in the world today conforms to some sort of regulations, and every racing car is built to fit within those various regulations. However the X1 is something new, created from a "what-if" dream we have long held at Polyphony. We want to inspire racing fans and the industry alike by exploring the realm of possibilities for the future of motorsports.
Earn your chance to drive the X1 Prototype when Gran Turismo 5 goes on sale in November 2010.Comment from Kazunori Yamauchi - President of Polyphony Digital Incoporated
We all have a dream about pushing the boundaries, where the performance of the car and the experience of the driver take precedence over the rules. Only with the technology of PlayStation®3 and the virtual environment of Gran Turismo 5 could that dream become a reality that millions can explore. This is the inspiration that brought the Red Bull team and Polyphony together. And as a result the X1 Prototype is dynamite to drive.

Like I said, its only licensing issues to contend with atm, The game date has not changed for us in the UK atm, its still november 5th until Polyphony come to us and say otherwise.
The whole X1 thing sounds immense
kipi19
I hope it's not licensing issues, I hope that it's a bug of some sort.
Shows that they are properly testing the game :)
The X1 thing is quite epic, go to the link and you'll also see a video of it.
I would post a video but I'm not even sure that's possible.
A Suzuka circuit lap time under 1 minute 10 seconds is going to be quite mind blowing :D
You'd rather hope its licencing that bugs, Bugs can end up taking weeks to solve if it proves a huge problem, While licensing is needless to say, a phone call, a meeting and a signing of a contract. Soooo, I'd rather it be a licensing issue, Without a doubt GT5 is being tested day in and day out, the game is finished, its ready, its licensing thats causing headaches more than anything, I can assure you.kipi19
Calm down, seriously, depending on what the problem is, what it'll take to solve it etc, Codies will still be another week or two with their workload, so yea.
Polyphony are ready to release this game, have been for a long time now if you look at it closely.
kipi19
I got a quick question:
Why can't companies just assign a lot of people to one bug, as the more people that work on it, the quicker it will be resolved?

Too many cooks spoil the broth. Throwing people at a problem like that won't necessarily speed up resolution!
Because you might be taking people off another area of something you're working on. Simple.kipi19

Atleast they said we'll still got it this holiday season. I'm still enjoying the heck out of F1 2010. So my racing itch is still scratched.SchumiF1
