Fortunately, the teacher felt ill so the lesson after school was cancelled.

I walked into Game to my pleasant surprise, there was no long queue (all six customers including me were buying  GT5 Signature Edition. Game thanked us all for buying it as it took up too much space. They only had 2 left by the time we left all left.)and GT5 Signature Edition was £130 instead of £150!

I travelled home and was very paranoid about getting robbed.
I got home, gathered the family together and open it up very carefully.
The, I redeemed the codes and put everything back where it was after having a look.
I even put it back into the Game bag!

I'm now currently installing the 8GB to my HDD.

Nice, I got it from work at my lunch break. I installed it as well before giving it a quick go. I have done the National B license and a couple of Jeff Gordon practice sessions and a couple of arcade races. Seems good so far.

Wow had a look at the reviews on Metacritic. Man, some of these guys are nasty. One scored it down because he couldn't take photos of non-premium cars in photo mode, only in race mode. That is very picky if you ask me. I think it looks great. Can't wait till Christmas!!!

Yup, the game is being nit picked to all hell, but that isn't unexpected. I think that is definitely an opinion skewing his score. I can careless about photo mode. I just care about gameplay, fun factor, how inclined I am to play. Everything else is secondary. My copy shipped yesterday so I can't comment.

If only they were this bad about generic FPS #593 that scores all the rave.... -_-

So disappointed in GT5.
Loading times are ridiculously long.
Play for 2 and a half hours and only managed 3 races.

The gameplay has been great so far, car physics is fantastic along with the graphics.
I can't describe anything else as I've only done 3 races.
The replays are great.
I haven't tried tuning the car or anything else so far.

I think that problem is due to how much Polophony Digital have made this game out to be more to it than there perhaps is. Like the standard cars apparently being less visual quality than the premium cars, lack of onboard camera etc.

That said I like the game anyway, it has some issues so far but I can not fairly say if thats the game or myself not being that good due to lack of time with the game.

Only 3 races? Did you do longer races as I had about 2 hours with the game including the install and got a few more than that done.

I did 1 3 lap race and 2 2 lap races in the Sunday cup.

The rest of the time was spent installing, changing options in the options menu and just having a look around the menus of the game.

I would say a dgood 35 minutes was loading times.

Even though I haven't played it yet, that sounds about right. They seem to be trying to do everything.

I think that they should look at the" less is more" philosophy. Like boasting 1k+ cars is nice but when a bunch of them are stupid, or nearly the same thing with a slight difference, and you'll never ever use it's time wasted that could be better put else where.

For the cars, no.
GT5's cars are incredibly stunning, but it's the massive wait that you need to go through to drive the cars.

The waiting times are because every time you load up the game it tries to connect to the server even during single player. It will take some time to sort out server issues but a quick fix is to disconnect your PS3 from the internet.

Don't know but it should be noticeable. Yesterday I was lagging for a long time on the menu screens but it was much quicker with the internet off. Sony should sort the problem soon.

Take Modern Warfare 2 for an example. People who got this on the day of release (quite a few since this was the biggest game launch of all time when it was released, may still be) were plagued by, well, the game simply not working online. They released 2 patches on release day. Give GT5 a week or so, PD will sort it out.

I have not really had that bad times in load times, certainly nothing along the 25 minute time appart from my install which was expected. I did have my game disconnect when playing a race online but that may be my internet rather than the game.

Who else here has given B Spec a go?

I've given B-Spec a go today, about 3 hours of it!
I played for 8 hours today.
Not healthy I know but I didn't have school :D

Gran Turismo also released a patch one day before the game came out, it was the 133 MB update.

It seems like Gran Turismo 5 was trying to connect to a server, even whilst offline.
This caused high traffic which resulted in the extended loading.
Sony have said that a quick fix for this would be to disconnect from the Internet.

There is a big patch coming tomorrow

The newly released racer is going to get an update shortly that will, as GT5 designer Kazunori Yamauchi tells Eurogamer, "refine the usability of the game to make it a better experience".

The update will hit on November 27 and, as Yamauchi points out, include more regulations for online play like max power and weight restrictions. About Gran Turismo 5, Yamauchi said, "It's like a living creature, dynamically growing as we speak."

Earlier this week, "extreme online traffic congestion" pounded Gran Turismo 5's online, affecting the singleplayer. Sony offered a temp solution: unplug your PS3. Yamauchi says the traffic onslaught put the game's online service in "kind of a critical state". The reason for this is that GT5's data center was configured to deal with 500,000. "But the number of connections we received greatly exceeded that amount and there was a high chance of experiencing problems as a result," Yamauchi adds.

"The design of the GT game really integrates the online and offline parts. So the problems online actually affected the offline play as well," he says. "Right now we've changed the number of simultaneous connections that are possible to one million, doubling the number, and we're trying to gauge what will happen, but we don't know at this point in time."

Future updates will include leaderboards and matchmaking as they are "all planned in the process of evolution." Yamauchi tells Eurogamer that his studio will be upgrading the game "every week, every month".

So we can expect the patch to actually come out some time in December then? ;)

I am glad though as I went online and got destroyed by people using a wide range of cars such as the Ford GT, Nascar racing cars, a Volkswagen Golf GTI suped up and there was me in my Honda Civic Type R about 10 seconds a sector off the pace if not more. It makes online not enjoyable for those who have not got the top cars so quickly.

Wow
This is just amazing progress from Polyphony, they are still working with the game.
They didn't just sell it and that's that.
A massive contrast to Polyphony would be Code Masters.

Well some studios do such as Valve with Left 4 Dead free DLC two years after the game came out on the PC and charged on the Xbox 360. Also Team Fortress 2 gets near weekly patches, some offering big content updates and they do seasonal maps like they had a Halloween one last month which was quite fun to play as it had a randomly spawning boss that takes out anybody near it making it a laugh.

Codemasters are working on more patches for F1 probably but they cant really add more DLC other than say old F1 cars and tracks and it depends on the license. I do agree though more work on the games when they are out is good. I mean Fallout 3 even did well to get 6 DLC packs (or was it 4, I cant honestly remember) over the course of a few months. Good times.

F1 2010 has numerous bugs.
During this time, CM were on holiday (seriously) and spent 1 month working on the patch.
This resulted in them being half fixed and a few more bugs occurred.
And now CM have said that they cannot confirm the release of another patch.

Well in fairness they cant, Microsoft and Sony have to approve the content before it is posted online so if they announce a date and Microsoft and/or Sony say no give it another go then that will disapoint people.

One month of work is pretty good seeing as we arent actually paying for the patch but the game needed fixing.

You have to take in to consideration though - how many years is GT5 going to last until GT6 comes along? The Formula One series is a game every year - they'll already be working on 2011 as it is - it's not like they don't care about the 2010 game, but if they don't work on 2011 then the issues in 2010 can't be improved on.

There was no F1 in 2008.
Also, they can have a group of people working on different games.
They can't just sell us half a game, we are basically beta testers.

Not to mention CM aren't as highly staffed so they can't devote too much resources to a patch for 2010 when they are working on 2011.

Ah. Now we are just sounding like a spoiled and entitled brat, now aren't we? You bought the product as-is, anything more is just sugar.

They promised us several things such as unrivalled realism.
Is it realsitic to be able to warp through walls, get stuck in the pit lane and have the Prime tyres become the Option tyres?
No, very disappointing.
When they announced the first patch, I was thrilled, but then there were still problems and some new ones.
It seems like they've given up with the release of GT5.

patch 1.02 is released @ 133Mb.

Anyone know how online car sharing works ? Do you still get to keep your car if you give it to someone. If anyone is feeling generous my PSN is mjk_0 :P

I don't think you will keep the car if you gift it as it is esentially the same as gifting on Steam, actual physical gifts etc. You will have the car taken from your garage and it goes as a delivery to the other user and will either appear on their community section as a gift or arrive like a car you win for completing licenses or events I think.

Thats my understanding so I may be incorrect though.

What would be the point of gifting cars?
There should be a trade option instead.

To help other players? You can trade as well by just sending a car to each other. It is optional rather than forced so its not like you have to use it but its nice that its there if you want to use it.

Garfield360UK

Why would you want to help other players?
They need to earn the cars themselves.

Just got all Golds in National A License.
I got National B Golds yesterday.
National B took 30 minutes.
National A took an hour.

Well if you have friends with the game you can give them a helping hand. You are not forced to so its a none issue in my eyes as you dont have to use it but the option is there if you want to. There are probably several reasons it is in the game just I am thinking of the ones off the top of my head.

Not all people have time to spend hours and hours on one game so some people will send them cars like if I had a friend who got this game and was struggling for a decent car and I had a few I would send them a car if I thought I had no use for it and it would help them.

I won't mind helping out friends. like Garfield said some people don't have the time to spend to get some awesome cars. I think that's what friends are for right?

I spent 2 hours on the International C License today.

I got Gold in everything apart from the last one in which I kept on getting Silver.
It was a 2 lap race in which you drive the horrid Ferrari 512BB.
I can comfortably get second but I can't seem to get first.
I will try again tomorrow as I got a massive headache afterwards.
