Sony teases "the future" of Playstation - countdown to 2/20/13

If playstation 4 gets announced, day one purchase for me at launch! once the pre-order option becomes available.

What this whole hoopla is to announce the new PSP Vita : oPedro

Sony just registered a site called Playstation Cloud.  Obviously Gaikai related.  On an related note, I really do wonder if they'll have a streaming client on the PS3 that would let you play PS4 demos.  That was one of the first things I thought of when they bought Gaikai.  The best marketing tool they could have for the PS4 is if you got to try it out on your PS3.

"Besides, it would be laggy and I am not sure the streaming quality would be sufficient enough to show off the graphics jump."

How would it be redundant if you don't think the PS3 could do it justice?  Obviously the tech works at least somewhat competently, or they wouldn't be pushing it.  If this thing wouldn't be able to stream a 10 minute PS4 demo, what the hell good is it?

Its redundant because most people on this forum cant tell if a game has framerate issues....the casuals will be content with playing it on the ps3 on a mediocre stream.

Oh and rag, BF3 is on sale for $10 on origin. Best looking game this gen... Your pc should easily be able to run it on the highest settings.

Will be interested to see what SOny has planned for PS4, assuming this is what the event is for. If things look good enough I may go back to Sony for next gen.

Gran Turismo featured pretty heavily in the 'Evolution of Playstation' video they released today.  I'm hoping that is a hint.

Yeah, Gran Turismo trailer is a lock IMO. They are the only first party dev who hasn't worked on a new game for nearly 2 and a half years.

Anyway, Gamestop CEO was shown a sneak peak of Battlefield 4. 

What are the chacnes we see it unveiled tomorrow? We know that MW4 will definitely be revealed at the MS meeting. I would imagine EA showing BF4 off at the biggest stage possible tomorrow instead of waiting for their own little unveiling a few weeks from now. 

Tekken has featured in their reveals before. It might be time to show off Tekken X Street Fighter. For that matter, I could see Sony wanting Namco to bring Dark Souls 2 along as we discussed earlier. It is good exposure for From and Namco, and Sony probably has some interest in getting the Demon's Souls/Dark Souls fanbase hyped for the PS4. I think there is a good chance that we'll see something from Avalanche, the Just Cause team. They've been open about how they are working on next-gen development for a while now, and I think they'd be happy to show what they've got. I have a feeling Final Fantasy Versus XIII will make an appearance.rragnaar

I totally forgot about Avalanche Studios. They've been hinting at their new games for a while now. They haven't released anything in around 2 years. They are techincal wizards too so they might have somethign awesome to show.

I was surprised to see so many Japanese trailers when i rewatched the E3 2005 conference last night. Capcom hates Sony, but the other publishers wouldn't miss a chance to be there. 

And dont forget Ready At Dawn's new IP. They are due as well. Ghost of Sparta came out in 2010 and they've only done an HD port since.

A game from Housemarque (who made Super Stardust HD for the PS3 at launch) might make an appearance.

It's tricky to tie all these threads together, but given Pulkkinen's near-exclusive experience with Finnish developers, it seems likely all three of his projects in progress are for studios he's worked with before. Beyond that it's very speculative, although it's certainly possible his PSN project is Dead Nation 2. In terms of his PS4 project, another outside bet is Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment. While he's not provided original soundtracks for the Finnish studio, Pulkkinen has worked with Remedy before. In addition, Remedy stated last year it's working on a "next-generation project." Again, it's highly speculative, but with Sony expected to reveal the PS3's successor later this week, we could learn more about Pulkkinen's next-gen project in the very near future.

Their stock price is in the sh*tter. I think they've reached rock bottom, they can only go up from here.

It feels like yesterday GT5 came out, I don't think we will see anything from PD until next E3 (14) followed by a holiday launch. 

I should buy some stock, I have absolutely no investments :(.

Yeah I'm planning on including roundup of all the rumors we've heard so far, and then after the conference is over I'll update the first post with the new info.

I've been loving the mockups on GAF, and think it would be awesome to see a system modeled after the PS2's design, but sleeker:

I don't mind the George Foreman, but I felt like the PS3 hardware and packaging was lacking when it came to aesthetics.

PS3 hardware.... fat launch PS3s were the sexiest console Sony's put out. PS2 looked terrible. PS2 Slim was cute as buttons though. 

I agree on the packaging. Vita's packaging is hideous.

At the show? Wow. :shock:

I'm going to miss part of the show because one of my daughters has her girl scout meeting tonight. I am tempted to tell her she can miss a night (meetings happen every two weeks, this is an event that happens every several years) but she really loves scouting and I'd feel like a complete jerk.
