Pokemon Gold and Silver will be remade, the updated versions will be named Heart Gold and Soul Silver

Here's the artwork of all three starters

We know that it's going to be running on an updated version of the Platinum engine (which is an updated version of the Diamond and Pearl engine)
There will be one new Pokemon at the end besides Lugia and Ho-Oh
Your starter will follow behind you like in Pokemon Yellow
Japanese launch will be the 11th of September
Japanese preorders start July 20th
Expanded WFC features

Great idea jayson. An official topic to lower the remake topics that are invading this forum. I don`t mind when people discuss, but when people start to create duplicates of the same topics, its start to be a problem. I was discussing this with soul already... well i would suggest requesting a stick, but maybe its not needed at all, with all the discussion that will happen anyway.

And meh, with you lookng for the info and posting here, i can sit here and relax while you do all the hard work.

Actually the majority of the new Pokemon have gender differences. They're extremely tiny details, like a smaller horn for females, or a different length/shaped tail, etc.

I heard that HeartGold and SoulSilver was being released in Japan at the tenth anniversary of the originals. If that is true, then it will be released in NorthAmerica: October 15, 2010, Austrailia: September 4, 2010 and Europe: April 6, 2011. It wouldn't be fair if everyone but Japan doesn't have to wait till its anniversary to get it and Japan is the ones making the games. :|

And as someone said here, the original were good, so i hope they not turn out to be bad remakes. Newest Pokemon games are still good, but it doesn`t have the same quality as it had on G/S/C.

And for the god sake, i wish they just stop to put 30+ trainers on every hole that you find. And on the top of that, all of them has weak pokemons, thats basically ruins explorations of ruins or caves, which was very fun back in the G/S/C. (discovering the unown secrets, discovering the cave where lapras was hidden, etc.)

You know, it's funny that about a week ago, I posted on here that they should bring back the whole pokemon following thing and now that they have released these pictures.. Now I'm sure Nintendo has stolen my ideas and is probably wire tapping me... Anyway, I doubt that your starter will only follow for the beginning.. That makes little to no sense at all... Why even bother with doing something as tedious as having a pokemon follow you until you get started? To hold your hand? Doubtful.. On a side note, I am gitty as a little girl that they are really going to remake this, however, if they decide to take out the second half (That's Kanto) I will boycott this game and all future games by Gamefreak... Who's with me??!!

Well, it's a remake... Not a new one set in Johto... So.... Remake it... And the advancements in the DS can push for all those things you wanted to see but didn't in the originals.. And keep the best parts of the original.. Besides, every single Pokemon game I get, I end up beating by the end of the night... If there are 16 badges and an elite four x 2, I will have plenty to do, not to mention all the exploring that will need to be done with two reigons...

It's probably just me, but the new girl looks much better than the older one. Also the new look for Gold is awesome.

serebii.net confirmed that the starter WILL follow you around as the scans have snapshots of it in Azalea Town and Violet City.

i hate the new look for the girl! gold looks better though, even though he's one of the best dressed male characters.

Maybe they did it because you can eat mushrooms on this version? :D Yeah, the old girl was better in my opinion.... BTW, i hope that thing on the boy wristle is not an upgraded version of the poketch....-_-

YES!!!!!!!!!! Finally, I've been waiting Years for a Gold/Silver game. Silver was the first game I ever played and this is a day 1 purchase for me

What happens when your starter pokemon evolves. Is the going to be like a Feraligatr following you? That would be awesome. I also think that they should make more badges; 10 at least. This is so you can actually try to get pokemon to Level 100 way easier than battling with that pokemon.

It's hard to imagine that it's almost been ten years since the release of the original Gold/Silver. I still remember the day when I bought my Silver. It was the best Gameboy game I've ever played. Now, these games are starting to lose their appeal to me. I think it's because I'm getting older and moving on to other things...Hail2theFreaks
