Hope I don't get in trouble for not being off-topic enough, but I didn't think this needed to be a topic on the main board...
My Wii and I have been together for one year now. So for our anniversary I got us Okami... I hope we like it!

Hey, same here, sort of. I forget exactly when I got my wii, but it was around this time last year and I just got Okami today. It wasn't for the anniversary it was for my birthday though. I can't wait to try it.
Is anyone else on summer break and currently jobless with no prospective opportunities? Booooo._BlueDuck_
Yea I'm on summer break but i start school again next monday (summer school) and i just had an interview last week wednesday and they're doing a background check and i should hear from them tomorrow morning. you should start looking for a job now lol.
Is anyone else on summer break and currently jobless with no prospective opportunities? Booooo._BlueDuck_
I'm not jobless, but I've been looking for a better job for a year now. Four applications, zero interviews. And that's with internal connections on my part. It seems that a lot of the places I'm going for have been hiring internally. The library I waited about two months to hear back from was actually laying off people at the time. I wish I'd known that then....
I'm currently working for a guy I know who owns several businesses. I drive for his auto auction, do landscaping and other random work around his house, and help with some of the calls from the houses he rents out. I'll be a lot busier during the summer. If I can find another job, I can still do some of this stuff on the side for extra money. It's just a matter of finding something better in this area.

What kind of job is it?
Speaking of jobs, I'm off to mine now.
As I mentioned on my blog, I'll be on one of the Vancouver Islands for the week. I'll be back late Thursday or possibly early Friday.
In any event, here's to hoping that they have internet, otherwise I'll see you guys when I get back.
What kind of job is it?
JordanElek
Sales-associate for Macy's. worked for them before but seasonal (not at the same one though).

Did you try local want ads in the newspaper?? What about websites??
Man I wish I still had summer vacation. I normally take a week off from my job in July but this year I am waiting until the end of August or early September because that's when the baby's due.
Very exciting times!
So, anyone see Iron Man yet?
I was lucky enough to see it opening day at 11:20. Wasn't as good as I'd hoped... The story was great and the humor was spot one, but the action left a lot to be desired. Mostly in the form of that pathetic final fight... What a joke that was...
It's funny cause in the same weekend, my friend and I saw The Forbidden Kingdom and found the fight scenes in that movie to destroy anything in Iron man... To bad the story was pure garbage...
So, anyone see Iron Man yet?Niff_T
I saw it Sunday night. I thought the previews looked pretty dull, so I wasn't expecting much even though I had heard nothing but good things about it. I was pretty impressed.
The movie had strange pacing, though. The "introduction" was over half the movie. It didn't really feel bad; it was just different. You couldn't really tell what the main conflict was until well into it, though it was hinted at early on.
I did enjoy how it was made relevant to our times. The scene in the Middle East right before Ironman makes his first real appearance is extremely powerful.

yeah yeah yeah! my thoughts exactly. it felt a little short to me (even though it was long) because of the little time that you actually got to see iron man.
on a side note... did anyone notice how tony starks nipples were ALWAYS so pointy!? seriously, they should named this movie iron nipples. :P

I haven't seen it yet but from the way the first movie was made I'd suspect they're making more then just 2 of them.
These franchises can really go on forever. I mean Iron Man is over 40 years old and still going strong in print. There's no reason the character can't go the James Bond route with decades of movies.
Hey I am Mike, I am 24 and have been a Avid Nintendo fan all my life, I currently have a lame job at Jack in the Box, which I hope to get outta soon, as I plan on going back to school next year.znator

The after-the-credits ending pretty much explains what the next movie is going to be.

Those are M & M's. These big-budget movies always have some kind of advertising in them.

Anyone else here who's homeschooled?Snyder_Trigger
I was never home schooled but I always had questions about home-schooling. Do your parents just teach you everything alone?? Are there a bunch of other kids in your community, church, etc. that come and learn from your parents or a group of parents and the parents will take turns every day?? How do the parents know what to teach? Do they get text books or acedemic programs or do they just teach what they want??
I'm curious that's all.
So im pretty happy guys. I got 2 offers for universities -- i've 'made it' after a full year of stress to make it. :|
Anyway, about ironman. I thought it was a cool movie, i didnt really like the middle eastern parts ... because im from the middle east. I found it kind of dumb they stereotyped the terrorists as being brown or arabic -- and i fully understood what they were saying in my language, and it made me laugh. I dont know, maybe im too sensitive about the whole thing, i just found it some what offensive.
As for the ending, i loved, LOVED it (i mean the extra scene after the credits). It was epic, they based the character from the ultimate spiderman comics off of the actor who plays the character (i dont want to spoil anything..)
Haziqonfire
isnt he white though? seriously.... samuel L? lol

Speaking of Iron Man, who celebrated free comic book day?
I only got 19 free books this year (thanks to a miscommunication lol) so this year's total was lower then usual but I did get this...
It's the best looking Abomination figure I've ever seen. Only ten bucks too!
Eh i havent been to a free comic book day thingy in like 4 years. I stopped collecting usm before issue #100. lol.Haziqonfire
I go with someone and she and I visit a bunch of stores. We make a day of it. We also check out the newest games at all the big stores.
I also get subscriptions in the mail from a company and they throw them in too so I'll see how many doubles I get.
It's comics and it's free so honestly it's really hard for me to stay away lol

I have a fair share of Archie comics as well, although I never read them anymore.
I missed comic book day this year. Those things are pretty amusing. I always get some entertaining comics, even though I've only ever been to 2 of them.
And Haz, I didn't know you were from the middle east. What part? (I'm also from there, from Pakistan). I moved to Canada when I was about 5 years old.

Hah, that's pretty neat. I was born in Multan.
Apart from that, what's new in everyone's lives?
Oh man today has been great... I just moved into a house that is about double the size of my apartment... I got cable (which I havent had in a couple years) and I got a 42" LCD TV.... it is stinkin crazy how good everything looks... I got the upgraded cables for both the wii and my dvd player and an HDMI cable for our cable and they look so much better... and now Im watching the Astros in HD and I feel like im watching an IMAX movie or somethin.
going from a 27" tv with rabbit ears to a 42" Vizio with HD Cable is like an overload on awesomness....

Congrats dude; moving into your first house is amazing especially when coming from an apartment.
How are the Astros doing this year? My Tigers are off to a SLOW start. Too many DH type players and starting pitching has been attrocious.
Good luck in the house.

I saw Prince Caspian yesterday evening, and I have to say, it was definitely one of the better films I've seen this year. I don't know if I'd put it ahead of the first Narnia film (which I adored), but it's definitely worth seeing.
Dutch_Mix
I hated the first one. So did my girlfriend, who is a fan of the books.
The acting bothered me, and the Harry-Potter-esque formula bothered me.
That's just me though.

I'm just not into that genre of movie.
I'm not a fan of the Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings/Narnia stuff.
I'm a guy that comes to Gamespot for gaming previews, news, reviews, and gaming discussion on the forums. I own all of last gens consoles and a Wii from this generation, and probably a 360 owner in the near future. I really like to come on here and write reviews. I have written a good bit of them and I can see that my writing skills are improving a bit. My earlier reviews are pretty crappy, and my new ones aren't top notch I know, but I am getting better.
I'm 18, high school grad, Christian, who isn't sure what he wants to do next in life. I have a full time job as a janitor at my high school, and hope to get started in college as soon as I figure out what I am going to do there.
Also, I think my posts are ignored. I can't remember getting a single reply since joining....Anyways, check out my profile and latest reviews. I would like that.
The_Deepblue
you dont need to find out what you want to do in college before you get there. your first 2 years is spent taking prerequisites. Within that time you can work with advisors to help you selesct a major. I was pretty undecided my first 1 1/2 years of college. i thought i wanted business then i thought i wanted crimonology then I realized how much I love politics to I changed to political science with a minor in philosophy. Got 1 more year until I graduate.
So the Lakers won their series last night and we dont get game 7 of the spurs/hornets until monday night. that sucks. Whats scares me is that its a home game and the hornets have been very dominant at home. I seriously hope Spurs can pull though on monday because I hate Chris Paul. Cavs/Celtics tomorrow and celtics already gonna win so I dont even need to worry about that game.

Interesting. I thought The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was a very faithful followup to the book. That said, I don't know if I can say the same thing about Prince Caspian since I haven't read the book in almost a decade. :P
So I read this entire post today, consuming most of the evening in the process. I'm not technically a regular to the Wii board, but I'm probably a regular to this site.
I joined because of Guild Wars, and to this day I feel that Egonga is the best poster on the site. I stayed because I always found something to talk about here, so that I could talk about normal things with my family. I'm certainly not "e-famous," but I've done two things to get my name around. 1st, I was one of those that made Kevin Van-Ord cry after the Odin Sphere review. I didn't mean to make him cry, but as soon as I heard about it on "The Hotspot" I felt guilty about being harsh. I read Jaysonguy's own critiques lately against Kevin, I'm glad he has thicker skin.
The second thing I did.... I called myself Jaysonguy's #1 fan. Process that for a second....
I'm 22, and I look and sound like Radar from M.A.S.H., only a little heavier. I even use the phrase "Hey you guys" and laugh in the same chuckle pattern. My spanish teacher pointed it out years ago, and when I saw an episode I was like "that's me." I go to IPFW right now, so I'm like an hour south of JordanElek. I used to live with a Vietamese roomate named Chris, and I would play all of his rare PS1/PS2 games while he played my N64/Wii collection, but now I'm back at home until next term.
I write in broken paragraphs because people complained they couldn't read my posts, then I started linking so that people would stop arguing and just go read things that they haven't before. Based on the sheer number of topics that end with my comment. I call it a success. The coolest thing I own is a 3 foot 3D puzzle of R2D2 with 4 sayings, while my most expensive valuable is probably my boxed copy of Ogre Battle 64. I used to read comics, but then Marvel started killing off all my monthly heroes. Now that Silver Surfer is dead...I don't even have a reason to pick one up.
Finally, I'm weird, very weird. I'll try to post one or two things here every time I post from now on.

You went to Huntington College. To think, I've probably actually seen you....
Collector's Box, joke or massive ripoff? Todd is kind and all, but wow he has no idea what things cost. I helped him open the store when it was a comic book/card shop, which was about 12 years ago(close enough to facts about me).
Coffee D'vine, coffee, atmosphere, or because you don't get to see 95% of Huntington's population?
 It's 20 minutes if you don't go all the way to town.
Collector's Box, joke or massive ripoff?SirSpudly
Never been in there, actually. I always went to Walmart for my games, until they built the new Walmart where you have to walk a mile to get to the games section. You know you've made your store too big when you have to put benches every fifty feet for people too tired to go on. But I guess, the bigger the store, the lower the chance of seeing Huntington North students loitering around there. ;)
Coffee D'vine, coffee, atmosphere, or because you don't get to see 95% of Huntington's population? SirSpudly
I was never a big fan of Coffee D'vine. Too many HU students there for my taste. Now the liquor store behind it, on the other hand.... :P
