[QUOTE="SirSpudly"]Seemings how I kinda AM the one responsible for half the hard drive talk, I am glad to announce that I just bought this.JordanElek
I literally just skimmed over that hard drive on NewEgg while I was looking over average hard drive prices for my response in Jason's thread. Weird.
That would be because they're having a free 3-day UPS shipping on it this weekend, and because you get 40GB more for an extra $10 over the 80GB model. I've actually had it in my favorites for 2 weeks, but this drive cost $69.99 TOTAL, which means NO extra fees. Thats like the omega rarity of internet business.
The main difference between 5400 and 7200 is how fast data is transferred. When you're transferring short bits of data, the 7200 is recommended; but when transferring large bits of data there is little difference. 5400 drives are much more consistent, but 7200 are quicker at things like save states and picture swapping.
Oh, and 5400 is the native PS3 speed, and the one recommended. The 7200 drives work (sometimes better), but in the end a lot of time will be spent downloading data, versus the 20-30 times you'd be creating/uploading a save file.
Just don't invest in a 10400 drive, those things will eat up your budget and your warranty.
