His birth cirtificate has been publically displayed. The Governor and the Secretary of Health of the state he was born in have confirmed it. There are even newspapers from the time he was born confirming it.

Not that it matters at this point, but when people argue against the Birthers, all too often they are factually incorrect. What has been flying around the internet is a "certificate of live birth" which, from my understanding, is a document that basically certifies that a child was born, but doesn't meet the same standards of scrutiny of an actual birth certificate.

Before people claim to have seen the actual birth certificate, I would suggest they read some of the articles written about Gov. Ambercrombie's (Hawaii) attempts to find the actual birth certificate. As of yet, he has been unable to locate it, and his is supposedly a close personal friends of the Obama's and Barack's parents. I'm not bothering to find a link, you guys/gals can read it if you like.

As for my personal opinion, I'm not really a fan of Obama's presidency so far, and I guess at times I wonder about the whole birth place thing, but it doesn't really mean anything right now. He's already in so it's not like anything would change the laws that have thus far been enacted.

If you asked me to produce my original birth cirtificate guess what - I couldn't do it. The original was destroyed in a fire 30 years ago. And at this point neither the hospital nor the state have photocopies on the original still on file. A couple of years ago I had to get a copy of my birth certificate. What I recieved from the state of Kentucky looked much like what Obama has there, and was considered unquestional proof of my birth in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky, United States of America. But it wasn't the original birth cirtificate, only a cirtificate of live birth, so I guess this means I'm not really a natural born US citizen afterall. :(

His birth certificate, for all legal intents and purposes, has been produced. That was my point. Doesn't matter if it's the original or not. It's all good, legal, and as far as the courts, the government, and everybody, except for Tea Baggers and followers of Alex Jones, are concerned proof of his birth in the United States.

The document is a "certification of birth," also known as a short-form birth certificate. The long form is drawn up by the hospital and includes additional information such as birth weight and parents' hometowns. The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. The Hawaii Department of Health's birth record request form does not give the option to request a photocopy of your long-form birth certificate, but their short form has enough information to be acceptable to the State Department... He also confirmed that the information in the short form birth certificate is sufficient to prove citizenship for "all reasonable purposes."
