If only the commie cars were reliable :(

I do. I have different favorite cars from different regions. But that band aid you refer to is a bandaid for a reason. If the American Car Manufacturers actually catered to what society needs then no one would have to resort to buying European or Japanese.
And thats great for Ford based on your link (See I knew you were a one car brand guy) but keyword there is INITIAL. If you think about the logic of the statistics of that article then - buyers remorse aside - it is logical to think that if a person buys a certain brand of car - they would be initially happy with it. I would like to see a study of how happy these owners are after they pass 50,000 miles.

WTF, Im not a one brand car guy..I love cars period. I just have a perference. But yeah, I would like to see those test done also but how hard is it to take care of your car to were it will last you? I think most people complain about cars, yet they don't wanna take care of them..specifically Americans.

lol my family actually owns a small fleet of hondas, My dad has an 05 Ridgeline, my mom has an '03 Oddessy, and we just bought my grandparents '03 Accord. My sister is planning on getting a used Civic this summer and one of the cars on my dream list is the S2000 CR
Yup. I've got a Honda Accord. It is 13 years old. Aside from regular maintenance it has NEVER broken. I must have saved a ton of money because of that car.
ya before we had the accord we had a 98 ford contour and it lived up to the name of Fix or Repair Daily. I mean i loved the damn thing cause everyone loves their first car but i hated the thing sooo much at the same time

Yes I saw him and it...would seem like the charger would be as easy since it weighs as much as 2x Nissans 240Sx  I think theres a Falken lexus thats pretty cool.
I wonder if we will see the GT-R drifting even though its AWD.
European Cars > Japanese Cars > American Cars I'd take a BMW M3 & Nissan Skyline over a Corvette any day. C_BozkurT_C
Dont you mean American Cars > Japanese Cars > European Cars then?
[QUOTE="Pro_wrestler"][QUOTE="Robertoey"]I'd probably say Europe.kruesader
Sure, if you like cars that practically drive themselves.
Internationally, American cars are almost a joke because of their build quality and simpleton design.
agreed id say european cars>***>american
What a joke! How dare you say such a thing?
FYI te right order is, European cars especially Germans and Italians, Japanese then American. European cars are way better than Japanses and American cars because they've been around for too long to know how to make a great car and the safety measures they offer as well as options you get with the car are worth a whole American or a Japanese car. The best cars are Mercedes and BMWs because they're still at the top when it comes to saftey measures and luxury besides their prices are affordable unlike Aston Martins and Bentlys.
I see cars from the movie Dirty Harry and cars from movies todays and their design are basically the same. Americans seem to dislike round edges and aerodinamic style.
If its having suck a problem with 1st gear, then why dont they use a higher gear? Or a higher final drive? If you cant use 1st gear, then its just a waste. Meaning wasted weight, and 1 less gear thet they could have had to help boost its top speed.
2008 BMW M3 Coupe
Engine: 4.0 L V8
0-60 in 4.5 seconds
Tq: 295.00 Ft-Lbs (400 NM) @ 3900.00 RPM
HP: 420.00 BHP (309.1 KW) @ 8300.00 RPM (200 less, yet its 0-60 is only .1 second more)
1/4th mile: 12.5 seconds @ 114.8mph (184.8km/h) (Same time as that pony car)
Skid Pad: 0.98g (You mixed up the Slalom with the Skid Pad btw)
Slalom: 71.4mph (114.9km/h)
Weight: 3650 lbs
And because of all the less weight, it will handle by far better through the turns (It is also designed for handling, and through all my experience with BMW, they can really handle as if they are on rails), but can still keep up on the straight-a-ways. And this is if it is stock too....put a super charger on this and get it up past 500-600 hp, and there is no way that pony will ever keep up, not on the drag strip or on the autocross road track.
Its just an all around better car, it faster, looks cooler, and you can get it in a Coupe, Sedan, or Convertable. It also gets better fuel economy, since it weighs less and has a smaller engine, meaning it would also beat that car in the Canonball Run or the Gumdrop Run easily.....

Yeah, most of the people who buy them are getting 4.10's in replace of the 3.73 ratios. Yep, BWMs are one of my favorite European cars because theres not much need to make them a corner carver. Anyone like the Ferrari 599GTB, probably my favorite European car. Its basically an Enzo :o but much cheaper and heavier.

Yeah and theres still probably a waiting list though.
Preference aside, this is a damn sexy car:o The only thing I would hate about a car of this caliber is that no one in this country will know how to fix it if something goes wrong.
Oh and 599GTB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nissan GTR :P

Hey, at least you're not choosen to own one! And repairs would definitely cause a bomb, no doubt.
Well, both the 599 and GTR are great cars, in their own cIass :D

I've heard of that, thats pretty stupid if you ask me. Descrimination to the FULLEST! I think poor people have an equal chance of owning an Enzo as the super rich. But yeah, they're pretty even as far as performance goes. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds for such fat cars :o
I'm a fan of European cars myself. It's not just about speed with those guys.kingdre
*cough*autobauhn*cough&
My dad used to work for a road help/towing company. The cars with the lowest failure rates were Toyata, Honda and another one that I can't remember the name of (it's on the tip of my brain!!!). The cars with the higest failure rate were Renault, Crysler and Landrover or Range Rover (I always get those two mixed up).
Matter of fact, my uncle used to have a Crysler, and the engine was completely worn out by the time it reached 100,000k (63,000 miles). When he went back to the dealer, he was told that that was considered normal for those cars. That's just plain ridiculous. I still think they're great looking cars, and for the asthetic quality I'd buy one, but knowing how poor the actual quality of the car is, no thanks.
Edit: The one thing that I do hate about Japanes (or any cars of asian make actually) is that while the quality is usually pretty high, the repair cost if something does break is generally speaking far higher than for its American or European counterparts.

well considering they already have the old R34s drifting along with evos and STis its possible but i think the 80,000 dollar price tag will turn teams away
Performance doesn't mean **** to the average driver, that is one of the major problems with the car industry these days and one of the main reasons Japanese cars hold their value for so much longer, they are built to last more than three years unlike American cars which are resold for the newest piece shiny of car-ass that comes along and has 13 extra hp.foxhound_fox
Exactly! How about Honda? How reliable are they? Very reliable. They are way too advanced as well!

More like:
European cars > Japanese cars > American cars
American cars have muscle, but that's about it. Outside of America, those cars are not very good. Main issues would be poor construction and generally an inability to turn well.
donwoogie
I agree, also I don't know exactly how it is in the states, but it would be a really bad move to have a huge car in european cities like Paris or London since streets (and parking) are not fit for them.

I have a feeling American cars are not so good at turning on the whole for the same reason.
The lines between what is considered american vs. european vs. japanese are starting to blur. Many of the big companies are multinational and have plants and employees the world over.
That being said Japanese cars > (ameican + european).

I don't know how people can support American car companies when they (at least Ford and GM) reserve their best cars for European/Australian markets. As for Chrysler, I think they make their interiors out of re-ground toothbrush handles.
