:) Let's discuss! Anything from prog/doom/thrash/death/black/core/melodic/power/etc. I know from my own personal experience, no other genre makes me feel so alive, so I'd like to hear input from other metal heads as well; because we all know metal and video games go hand in hand. Also, any other genres of choice?? Jazz and classical for this guy!

Iron Maiden is my favorite band. Nothing like some heavy metal. I also like Dream Theater, but not nearly as much.

Back in middle and high school I was huge into metal. Now I can't stand most of it. Pantera is the only metal band I'll occasionally listen to.

I listen to a decent amount of sludge and death metal. Right now my favorite metal is Devin Townsend. Overall though I don't know maybe Mastodon or Neurosis. As far as heavy music goes Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge are my favorite bands

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Septic Flesh, Obscura, Enslaved, Alcest, Cynic, and Nevermore( been blasting This Godless Endeavor on repeat in my car)

Anselmo of Pantera popped my growl cherry... and now I'm moving into Sepultura. "Chaos A.D." is an astounding album. I've been into metal for quite a while (listened to Black Sabbath and Metallica growing up; however, mostly mixed in with "classic" rock) but have only really started appreciating it recently after going through the whole Metallica discography. Then I did Pantera's and fell in love with their style. I only discovered Sepultura a few days ago, but they are already my new favourite band.

I'd list the metal bands I like, but I'd be here for a while. A LONG while.

I like power, progressive power, thrash, groove, and speed metal. I'll occasionally throw in some death or doom, but very rarely (in the case of death metal, I listen to exactly one band, only because I saw them live).

I listen to it a bit. Pretty much only Insomnium, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Eluveitie, Equilibrium, and some of Avanged Sevenfold's older songs (I know...).
Been listening to a bit of Augury.

I keep meaning to make a thread in order to gather more symphonic and avant-garde metal.

Well I listen to a lot of types of metal, but my favorite are symphonic, power, and gothic. Notable bands include Epica, Sonata Arctica, Sirenia, Tristania (yes, even with the new singer), Leaves' Eyes, Amorphis, Theatre of Tragedy (more the old stuff, but the new is still ok), Visions of Atlantis, Edenbridge, My Dying Bride, Autumn, The Gathering, Within Temptation, Elis, Xandria, and many more. Granted, I'm also partial to the heavier stuff, but symphonic metal will always be my favorite type of metal mainly because my first metal album was Leaves' Eyes "Vinland Sage" and it just blew me away (and it still does).

Other genres I listen to are pop (all types, just saw kesha and lmfao live it was great, but am currently partial to natalia kills), electronic, trip-hop, art rock, whatever tori amos is, pop punk, punk, rap, some country, classics along the lines of frank sinatra, rockabilly (thanks to imelda may), some theatre, and really anything that sounds good. I used to be one of those metal elitists (no offense if that's anyone here) that didn't accept any other type of music, but then I realized there's a lot of good music out there in every genre (well not crunkcore).

Metal is awesome. Love thrash, power, heavy, speed and some prog metal.

Can't stand "growling" or what not.

My favorite metal bands are:

Iron Maiden, Helloween, Dio, Gamma Ray, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Metallica, Manowar, Iced Earth and Blind Guardian.

"Rebellion in Dreamland" is one of the best metal songs ever. Oh and I'm also getting into Stratovarius :D great band.

Iron Maiden are the favorite, but I also enjoy listening to:

Megadeth
Metallica
Saxon
Motorhead
Black Sabbath
Brocas Helm
Sabaton
Judas Priest

other than the various metal genres I also enjoy blues rock, hard rock, progressive rock and some jazz infusion.

I'd say I'm a fairly large metal aficionado.

My favorite bands include: Down, The Absence, Hail of Bullets, Unearth, Misery Index, Revolting, Skeletonwitch, Rob Zombie, Death, Crowbar, Amon Amarth, Corrosion of Conformity, Nightrage, Nominon, Evocation, and Napalm Death.

Respect a band for trying new things is what I say. I've liked a few song off albums like Load and ReLoad even when they were panned cause Metallica did something different. I liked a few songs off St.Anger too and that album was one of Lars Ulrich's more fiercer albums which I commend him for..... for once I am commending Lars, never again.

As for me my favourite band would have to be Opeth. Akerfeldt has some of the best clean and harsh vocals I've ever heard, they can play some truly emotional music.

Also I'm gonna list Septic Flesh as another favourite and leave it at that because I would be here forever.

Motorhead
Anthrax
Nuclear Assault
Slayer
Suicidal Tendancies
Megadeth
Sepultura (early stuff with Max)
Early Metallica

Disturbed
Slipknot
Nirvana
Queens Of The Stone Age
Kyuss
Foo Fighters
Faith No More
Wolfsbane

I wouldn't say I'm a metal head since I listen to almost anything, but Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Godsmack are some of my favorite bands! I've always been more into Punk Rock though.
