He was a good President. Sure, MAYBE he might have made some mistakes. He seems to be a family man, a nice guy. And yet psycho lefties kept trying to destroy him, calling him all sorts of vlie crap. He was just doing his job. I'd like to see one of those hippy freaks run the country for a day. We'd probably be at record unemployment or something.

Anyone have any ideas?

A lot of the criticism against him was valid, and a lot of it wasn't. I respect him too much to pity him.

He is definitely a guy I would want to have a beer with. And I acknowledge him for sticking to his ideals even though things weren't going well that does take guts. However I don't think he was a particularly great president. His handling of the war and lack of preparation for it kind of ruined that.

He was president of the USA and now probably has enough money to live in luxury peacefully for the rest of his life.

I'm sure he's doing quite well...

I don't think I would call him a good president, but I do feel bad for him. I feel bad for Obama too whenever he gets harsh criticism, because I know they are doing what they think is best for the country even if it isn't best for the country.

He brought back dignity to the Office of the President - he was faithful to his wife.

He didn't waffle after New York City was attacked...he sent two Carrier Task Groups to protect the city.

His approval rating soared to 90% after 9/11...the 10% were far-left.

No one disliked him at his first visit to the WTC. The first thing said to him from the crowd was, "Go get 'em, George!".

George also had a good heart. A soldier had lost both legs in the war. George phoned him every month to see how he was doing.

He invited him to run with him at the White House when he was ready (the guy had a goal to run again).

There was only one picture taken, as Bush barred the press from making a show of it.

No, I don't feel bad for him at all. Even though a lot of the criticisms against him were unfair, petty, and just irritated the crap out of me, this is a man who made his entire political career off of smearing his opponents and political rivals with his good friend Karl Rove.

GWB was an idiot who's mistakes are still being felt to this day in the form of all the ridiculous legislation his administration pushed through that limits the liberties of Americans, his administration's insistence on using torture as an interrogation tool, and the Iraq War. This is to say nothing of the damage he did to the US's international reputation by all the crap he did which is a topic in and of itself.

No. Most of his criticism is well desreved. On a personal level I'm sure he's a nice guy. He even seems like he'd be fun to hang out with. I, however, do not need the President to be someone I can have a beer with. Half the problem with this country is that people support politicians for entirely superficial reasons.

He invaded a sovern nation under false pretenses. He continued deregulating the stock market which caused it to bomb. He let Osama Bin Laden get away when he was trapped in the mountains of Tora Bora. His administration revealed the identity of a CIA agent (Valery Plame) in the field risking her life to get back at her husband. He handed out no bid contracts to his buddies (Chenney)for work (Haliburton)in Afgahnistan and Iraq.

GWB was a spioled brat from the time he was born and his arrogancein office proved it. He was pamperd and groomed from the day he was born. He had no clue as to how common people live.

I'm no liberal leftist nut job I'm just as critical of the left but they don't F- things up like he did. GWB set this country back 100 years.

Then Bush started another war on pretenses that he knew were false because he wanted to do what daddy couldn't do. Suddenly he didn't care about all the soldiers who were dying and getting mutilated in an unnecessary war that he started. He also exploited Americans' insecurity after 9/11 by passing stuff like the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act of 2006. He sanctioned the use of torture on "terrorism suspects" which created a ****storm in the rest of the world because of its flagrant violation of the Geneva Convention. He backed out of the Kyoto Protocol which was taken by the rest of the world as another middle finger by America. He disrespected other world leaders which did nothing to help our already mangled international reputation. Do we even need to get started on Karl Rove?

Sorry, but unless you wore the uniform and served, you really don't have anything to prove your point. Partisan rhetoric doesn't cut it.

I was in the military during Desert Storm, and I know why Bush Sr. ended it. I read the intelligence reports, which were not available to you.

I don't care if the president is doing a donkey as long as he does a good job. He had Binladencornerdin the moutains of Tora Bora. The CIA director asked for 100 troops to cut him off from Pakastan. The white house denied his reqeust leaving it to 25 troops and tribal leaders to cut off his escape into Pakastan. The tribal leaders escorted him over the border. 5 months later we invaded Iraq. November of 2001 I watched it on tv when they had him cornerd. The CIA director went public a few years back on National Geografic channel. If they captured Bin Laden we had no excuse to go into Iraq.

I don't think GWB is an idoit he knew what he was doing.

GB1 was warned by his generals not totake bagdad and we didn't. We stopped and the war was considerd a succsess because Sadam was driven out of Kwait.Hussain was not a threat after 911. We found no WMD's. I watched Colan Powels speach to the UN saying he had mobil Anthrax labs and they had the testamony of a defective nulcear scientist. All turned out to be untrue.

No, he was not a "good president." In fact, somebody (I can't find a link at this moment) just came out with a ranking of all the Presidents, and he was very near the bottom. Bush is the one who lead this country into 2 wars in the Middle East that we can't win, and he also lead the economy into near ruin. He barely did anything right. I'm not a democrat either.

Bush Sr. did it right.

He got UN approval.

Then he made many other nations pony up. Saudi Arabia gave free fuel to our troops for the duration.

Bush told Japan to cough up some cash since they wouldn't send troops. Japan balked at first, until Bush told them the U.S. Navy would stop protecting their oil tankers when they passed by Vietnam. Japan ponied up the money for the war then.

He also kept the war from a possible expansion into another Middle East conflict, by keeping Israel from counterattacking for the Scud missile strikes.

No. He and his administration made their decisions, and his presidency is criticized because of it. He was an atrocious president. I have nothing against the man personally, but he was an awful president and deserves to be called such.

I kinda feel sorry for him cause I don't actually think he meant any harm. He just got in w/ a bad crowd which got him elected, and convinced him to make choices that were better for certain individuals instead of what was good/fair for everybody.

Check this story out its a good read. It shows how Obama did have some forewarning about what could happen in the gulf, he had the ability to change what was going on and enforce the safety regulations and he did not choose to do so. Other people were to blame as well it is not entirely on Obama but he does have blame that can be put on him.

Not at all. He divided the US from the rest of the world with the "with us or against us" mentality. Countries like Canada and France became small "enemies" with the US until the whole war propaganda slowly died down and with the election of Obama.

Yeah I'm just glad he is gone. It's much better having a president that does absolutely nothing to help his country. Also, it's great having a president that goes on vacation every 3 months. I mean he's doing such a great job.

Bush went on more vacations than any other president in history.

Why does everyone keep talking about Bush? Leave the poor man alone, we should be focussing on the most underqualified president in history that just happens to be in office right now.

Whenever people bash Obama the defenders always bring up Bush. Its like a natural defense for them

Whenever people bash Obama they usually blame him for problems that Bush is responsible for. You can't blame a man for arson when he walks into a burning house.

Given the alternative presidential candidates at the time (Gore & Kerry), I not sure they are any better than him. But his response to the Katrina just made me lost my faith in him and any notion that he was a good president

Handled it better than Obama the BP spill...

Just saying.

I would contest that. I don't think Obama has as much power over the operations of a giant oil company as Bush had over the US government's response to a natural disaster. What could Obama really have done?

Have the coast guard/other organization in charge of the oil spill(not BP), and just have BP foot the bill (that would likely be steeper).

BP's incompetence/greed got us into this after all, why have them direct the clean up.

Obama has had plenty of time to take credit for his own failings. Though no matter what happens it will always be Bush's fault. Likely will be hearing that for the next 10 years anytime anything goes wrong. Obama gets blamed for alot and not all of it is his fault but hes not the saint that people pretend he is. No need to bring Bush up everytime anyone puts down the Democrats savior.

I don't like Obama one bit, but to say he's worse than Bush because of the vacations Obama takes is absurd, considering no president in history took more vacations than Bush. Be consistent.

It doesn't matter who created the problem. It's Obamas job to fix it, he is the president now. So he needs to get off his ass and actually do something to fix those problems. If your house was burning would you call 911 or run away like a little girl? Well Obama is running and I don't think he is going to stop anytime soon.

Why did you quote me when I never said anything about the vacations. How am I being inconsistent

Bush was a great president because he didn't cheat on his wife and is cool to hang out with?... Seriously?
