I thought hormones created cancer :|..or made you more susceptible to it...the hormones your talking about at least..i don't know..maybe i'm confusing it with something else..

Xx_Hopeless_xX
Pills are not very good for our livers considering how much pills we'll have to take in, and we're more susceptible to prostate cancer, so yes, we'll need to be screened medically quite often. Injections fix the liver bit, but are more expensive as you often have to do those with doctor supervision.

I got one. Would I (a guy) be able to ethically fight a transgendered person or is that still generally frowned upon?hamstergeddon
In today's society, I think it would vary. In some places, it wouldn't be frowned upon. In some places it would. I would prefer you didn't, really. Unless the transgendered person attacked you first physically, but even then, self defense plz. :( Too many transgendered people experience serious violence against them in their lives.

Nope. If Fubar appears female(which I would imagine would be the case) and you find her attractive, you're attracted to a female appearance, you're not gay in the least.

I mean, technically the pills we take are no better or worse for the liver than any other pills the liver needs to take. :P It's just that pills do hurt the liver. And due to the hormones our already large odd of prostate cancer could increase, but medical advances and proper medication routines have helped with that. For the most part, our hormones are safe, we just need to monitor our health a lot.

I don't really have a question, but I think it's really cool you're willing to use your life and experiences to better educate others and perhaps change some people's outdated viewpoints on transgender people.

Born with male genitalia due to a hormonal mishap while developing in the womb. Most transfolk just want to fix that. We've always been the gender we are in our head, our body just didn't match. And our sexual preference is absolutely independent of our gender, however the same ratios would likely be present in that of a regular person of the gender we identify with. So I would have the same chance of being homosexual as any other woman.

I personally am minutely attracted to guys. I have issues finding myself attracted to the male body as it reminds me of what I was given at birth. I've gotten better about it in recent years, especially as my transition has progressed. I'm sure I'll have enough attraction to guys when I'm fully transitioned as I'll be able to put my past image behind me, but right now it's at a lesser stage. No dating for me right now. :P Be be real concise, I've never been a male, I've only had the body of one. I've always had the mind of a heterosexual female.

This. It's nice to see a thread like this to help people understand. It's sad how many people have a negative view and take it out on others for no good reason.

thats a huge misconception, there is a scientifically proven hormone imbalance in our heads. i mean to say its nothing more than dressing up would be like saying people suffering from depression are just over reacting and drama queens

Wrong. A better analogy would be justifying violent mood through depression. The depression can influence actions, but it doesn't have to. Depends how the imbalance is addressed. You dress up because it's how you handle your horomone imbalance. When it comes down to it, you're playing dress up.

 • "Of, relating to, or designating a person whose identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender roles, but combines or moves between these."
 • "People who were assigned a sex, usually at birth and based on their genitals, but who feel that this is a false or incomplete description of themselves."
 • "Non-identification with, or non-presentation as, the sex (and assumed gender) one was assigned at birth."

Wikipedia

It even says there is no fully precise defenition. I don't think you are precise with the concept.

Wikipedia is hardly a solid literal reference. I meant literally trans+gender. A male dressed as a woman is still male. A male with fake breasts is still male. A hermpahrodite actually has both organs naturally.
How & when did you begin to recognize that you felt different in regards to your gender? Did you immediately decide to begin identifying better with the gender you felt more comfortable with? If not, what gave you the confidence to finally do it? What type of issues do you deal with as a transgender? Any are there any other things would you like to discuss. The reason I ask is because of all the things in the world transgenders are one of the few things that make me uncomfortable, and I would like to become informed about transgender so that I can get the hell over my own prejudice. Lockedge
I If you have any other questions, or feel I haven't answered one well enough, please, ask away. Anything to spread knowledge.

I don't want to sound condescending, and I'm sure you've heard it before, but that's awesome that you are willing to go out there and be who you want to be, even in this horribly bigoted and ignorant world.

One question I do have is: How do you go about finding people you're attracted to and are willing to date someone who is at least at one point biologically speaking a man? Because, to be completely honest, if I found out that I was dating a transgendered I would not feel comfortable and probably would be fairly upset. This would be nothing against the person, more that I am a straight male and as such naturally am a little homophobic to the extent that I would never be attracted to them.

I'm sorry if the question came across as a little rude, especially after my opening paragraph.

Hmmm depression is many times caused by chemical imbalance. A better analogy would be someone suffering from depression just giving in and not fighting their urges. You're likening your wants to be a woman to depression. Depression is a negative thing that people fight through medication. It's very real. However, it's different. It's not about people trying to be something they aren't.

Heh. Well, "transgender" is a vast umbrella term containing a lot of "labels". Gender-queer, transvestite, etc. It's why I try to keep transsexualism related, but rather detached from the term transgender, as transsexualism is more related to the intersexed birth condition(or as you put it, hermaphroditic)..basically to the physical condition of one's body. There's vast scientific proof behind transsexualism being a biological condition caused in utero by a malfunction in hormones during the development of the brain and body. Surgery, technically, doesn't change anything for a transsexual aside from a letter on our personal ID. We've always been the gender we identify with and (in my words, not speaking for all transsexuals) it's simply fixing a birth defect with our sex.

If it's a birth defect, it can't be "fixed" by simply putting down the letter of the sex you'd prefer to be. There are many other birth defects and they cannot be cured by just wishing them away. You're a male who wishes they were female due to a hormone imbalance. You can't always get or be what you want.

You know sometimes the dictionary is the definition of your true heart. Plus, don't always put your trust inside that. You don't know what it's like in someone else's shoes. :?

This is theoretical...

Even if they were delusional...why bother putting them down..it's kind of pointless..

Well, I've always wanted to be a woman until recently. I just accepted who I am, because I can't change it and I don't want to undergo surgery, because I'll still be the same person.Genetic_Code
Some transition, some don't It all comes down to gender dysphoria. If you're uncomfortable in your own skin, then I'd recommend transition. Same person? Arguable. I'll have the same personality and everything in ten years, but I'll look different, I'll be happier and less depressed, and I'll feel comfortable with my body. In the end, it's your choice, your life. if you can live as is and find happiness, and be able to ignore the gender dysphoria, then all the power to you. It's your life and you make your own decisions. :)

Why would I want to know anything about a transgendered person? All I need to know is that they are weird.

Assassin1349

Well, why post on the topic then? :| Just asking...

Because I can.

 Says the person who wastes his own time. I've noticed you do that a lot.

Sadly, though this is a good idea, I do not have any questions other than, what age did you make the change? I'm sure this has been asked but there's like 5 pages to scroll through on this thread.

The dictionary disagrees. Lesbians are female.

You know sometimes the dictionary is the definition of your true heart. Plus, don't always put your trust inside that. You don't know what it's like in someone else's shoes. :?

So I should shut down my brain and pretend it's a world where we can magically be whatever we say? If I want to be an astronaut, can I go around telling people I'm one? I'm a grown man. I realize human's have limitations. This seems nothing more than people not accepting who and what they are. I can buy the space suit, but I'm no astronaut.

You, just, don't get it. And astronauts =/= transgender whether you're giving an example or not.

And being grown doesn't mean you can never be what you want to be. Just trust your gut and follow your heart and you'll get there.

I'm all for following your heart..and ima let you finish n all...but i have the biggest heart of all time..of ALL TIME!!...
kidding...:P..i'm tired..night peoples..
