To me the definition of god is one of retraction. The further science progresses, the further god retracts.
Now we are at a point that God has to exist in a reality beyond our own, because we have mapped out our physical reality and god is not in it.
If we can somehow reach beyond our physical reality (if that even exists) in the future, god's definition will retract even more.
It's always a step ahead so it can never be disproven....quite clever, you must give 'em that :)

To be fair the Christian God, quote from the Bible, "existed before time," so the definition has never retracted since from that knowledge you can conclude that he is outside of time aka eternal.

Playing devil's advocate here: According to religious people, god exists outside of the physical realm and therefore doesn't need a creator since physics don't apply to it. And since there's not even a blimp of evidence that anything outside our physical reality actually exists, it's the perfect habitat for their god to live in since it cannot be proven wrong. To me, it's just a cop out answer.TheFlush
Christianity also says that God is both outside and within our universe. So assuming we are going for an objectively real God (rather than the more appropriate mystical one), then God would most certainly require a creator if it is "within" our universe.

Cute video, and its why Im an agnostic when it comes to the issue of creationism. Neither the theist nor the atheist can prove their side.

People however should really look at the issue of creationism and the issue of religion separately because even if you could prove that a higher being started the universe that doesn't prove that your religion is right, nor that the higher being has any religious dogma for us to follow.

Stupid video. The argument: "You can't prove it doesn't exist" can be applied to an unlimited number of things. It's not proof of a God, and it's certainly not proof of any particular God out of the thousands humans have invented over our history. I can't believe there are people in this thread who are taking this video seriously - Wake up people!

In terms of the start of everything, maybe. But creationism? We can say at least in terms of life that it was NOT, for a fact, created all at once by God, and that humans were not created as they are now in his image.

Christians at least, in my experience, tend to be easy to impress. My stepmother is big into Ray Comfort. (ugh...) It all reminds me of that comic where a guy tells an atheist he has a baseball and the atheist asks him to prove it. So he shows the atheist his baseball. Simple. Then a christian makes the same claim, and the atheist asks him to prove he has a baseball. The Christian screams "YOU CAN'T PROVE I DON'T HAVE ONE!!!!!!" and runs away.

I probably used the term creationism a bit to loosely and should have picked a better term. What I meant was the issue of whats the first thing ever that started it all.

The big bang didn't create the universe, it formed it.

To prove an atheist wrong you have to prove there's a god, not disprove a theory (and they couldn't even do that)

There is no such thing as "before" the BB... time and space were compactified within whatever singularity or "object" the BB would expand out of. In the absence of any dimensionality, including time, there is no before. You can believe all you want, but it's still faith, not proof by any standard a functional mind would accept.

That's faith aswell. Faith you have on the absence of dimensionality and time before the Big Bang. There is not a single living being on this planet that can prove that right or wrong.

I don't believe in god because there's no evidence that he exists, not because of the big bang. Same reason I don't believe in unicorns.

You don't have to believe in the bang bang to be an atheists.

alright tough guy. Lets assume God is an affect? What caused that? Huh?

Theists love the idea of God because it (by its nature) is immune to logical reasonsing. The idea of God is just a way to delegate answers to something that does not need to be answered itself (God). If you believe God had always been there and yada yada, then why cant the universe always have been there? huh?

Or is it because God is not subject to logical reasoning but non- theist concepts of the universe are?

It's impossible to get evidence to proof the non-existance of something, it's the lack of evidence that proves they don't exist.

Think about it, our universe is expanding. What is it expanding into?
It's quite possible that there is a plane of space much larger than our universe, something that houses several universes inside of it.

Besides, saying God did it, is the same as saying something was made out nothing. BB theory only states what happened.

I don't know why Christians try to argue science. Just admit that you believe everything by faith and inner intuition and not by observeable means and lets all move on. Also, quit trying to make society brainwash our children with these beliefs. Thank you.

You could argue the very nature of the universe we observe is seen as God's work and proof to theists.

Big Bang is such an irrational theory.....All of existance came from a super tiny ball of matter that was just there? How could it just be there? Was it on soild ground or floating in absolute nothing? It doesn't make sense. But this is all just my opinion.

IMO God made everything. He made existance.

And who made god exist

God is God. That is all.

You have no problem with the absolute notion of "god is god", but make it, "the universe is the universe," and suddenly you're filling your pampers.

Cool, let's internet argument. All we have to do is repost the same crap we already posted, just worded slightly differently, and whoever gets the last word in wins.

The big bang didn't create the universe, it formed it.

To prove an atheist wrong you have to prove there's a god, not disprove a theory (and they couldn't even do that)

The big bang didn't create the universe, god did. Nothing + Nothing =/= Something

To prove a religious person wrong you have to prove your theories that make you not believe in Him.

I don't believe in god because there's no evidence that he exists, not because of the big bang. Same reason I don't believe in unicorns.

You don't have to believe in the bang bang to be an atheists.

[QUOTE="dangamit"]Random events end in CHAOS. If the big bang, revolution etc were random, we would not be here. You can believe whatever you want though, I couldn't care less.

where did you get the idea that randomness ends in chaos? Within chaos, orderly system develop.
