[QUOTE="m25105"][QUOTE="toast_burner"]Yes but you saying they aren't adding anything to the thread, isn't exactly adding much either. You're just as bad if not worse than them.

toast_burner

If you say so, maybe it just bugs me that any thread that has anything to do with religion, will always get visited by the usual suspects jumping on anyone that posts they believe in God, and this is my response to them, hoping they will see for themselves that they're acting like dumb dicks.

by acting like an even dumber dick you're going to make them feel like dumb dicks? All you're doing is making them look like saints in comparison to you.

And how exactly am I doing that?

So let me get this straight, in your world, it's wrong for me to call people out that do nothing, but insult those that confirm they believe in God, by telling them they don't contribute to the thread? And I'm the dumb dick, for not shutting the hell up and letting them just post their crap? I ain't got nothing more to say to you.

erase that definition that one dude said. God is. God is everything and is nothing, the alpha and omega. That's it, there's no mystery. Why is it so bad to believe possibly their is a fire breathing dragon right behind you? Oh I get it. There needs to be mathematical proof before you believe in something. Sounds like a barrier to me because nothing is real unless it is proven. A barrier as in no imagination since that stuff can't be real

Since you can never prove a negative the burden of proof lies on those making the positive claim that any God or Gods exist. And right now, there is no evidence of the existence of any Gods.

If you want to believe in the existence of nerve-gas-farting pink dragons because no one has yet proved that they DON'T exist, then go right ahead. Knock yourself out. But it would be foolish to presume that other people should assume this - or even respect this opinion about it - absent rational, objective proof or argument.

Yes. There is no way that our life is essentially meaningless. Life is too beautiful of a thing to be meaningless.

Yes I do believe in God. My spiritual beliefs are very important to me, and to be honest I find athesim to be the most illogical view. I am reminded by this picture I saw once, it had two twins in a womb and they were having a conversation that went something like this:

Baby 1: "Hey brother, do you believe in life after birth?"

Baby 2: "No I don't, there is no evidence for it. I have to see it to believe it"

Baby 1: "Do you believe in Mom?"

Baby 2: "No, of course not, that's just silly. I'm an atheist. There is no such thing as Mom"

Lol it's pretty funny and clever and makes a good point. I think I found it: Unborn Atheists: Do You Believe in Mom?

Like a Big Bang where random particles and molecules appeared from nothing to collide together haphazardly and miraculously form the Universe, Planets, and Life? That's perfectly logical.

The big bang theory doesn't attempt to explain where the matter came from. Try to understand the basic principles of a theory before you try and dismiss it you fvcking shlt head.

Whats that got to do with atheism?

Besides the big bang has a lot of evidence supporting it, you'd have to be pretty dumb to think it's illogical. However it's not a theory to say what created the universe, it the reason why it is the way it is.

Yes that life and the universe just appeared out of nowhere magically and eventually lead to complex life all on it's own is completely logical. Ya that makes so much more sense.

Think of it like game design, a video game has a designer, a creator. It clearly did not just pop into existence on it's own, someone took the time to program and design it. They built the engine, they built the mechanics, they built the world and everything else in that game.

Life is the same way, God desinged the universe and it's mechanics, and used them to create life and make human beings. Things like evolution are just one of the many design tools God designed and guided in this world to create life.

Gravity, atoms, DNA, the Big Bang and all the other things are just the many mechanics and foudnations God used to design the world with. It certainly makes more logical sense than your idea.

Did he even try to refute Shadowmoses' beliefs with the Big Bang theory?

Are you dumb?

Also I doubt the BB theory states that there was a collision before the expansion.

ShadowMoses900

Were a child at a level of cognition capable of asking such questions, the first conclusion is reasonable. If all you know is what's around you, then it's perfectly reasonable to believe that's all there is. The second scenario is a bit of a false analogy. It is impossible not to believe in mom in a sense as mom is the world around them, it would be like us denying there is a world around us (which some Christian philophers have done). However, to say that this world around them is a sentient being is a conclusion based on zero evidence. That's not rational, to believe something despite all the evidence contradicting it. It doesn't matter if the unfounded conclusion ends up being true, logic means a conclusion that derives its validity from the truth of its premises. If the premises are true and they logically lead to an untrue conclusion then it is still a rational conclusion, the problem is with the truth value of the premises.

Yes that life and the universe just appeared out of nowhere magically and eventually lead to complex life all on it's own is completely logical. Ya that makes so much more sense.

ShadowMoses900

Honestly, why can't anyone just read up on a certain theory before opening their big dumb mouths. The big bang theory doesn't say it just appeared out of no where and that it magically came to be. In fact the BBT doesn't address where everything came from AT ALL, get this through your big stupid thick skull. Quit misrepresenting a theory you know nothing about.

There is no 'magic' happening here at all. Everything in the universe is governed by laws, they follow a strict set of rules that will lead to eventual outcomes. The tricky part is understanding theses rules and using them to predict the outcomes.

Whats that got to do with atheism?

Besides the big bang has a lot of evidence supporting it, you'd have to be pretty dumb to think it's illogical. However it's not a theory to say what created the universe, it the reason why it is the way it is.

So you bring up a theory that has nothing to do with atheism when discussing atheism. You then describe that theory so poorly that even a 10 year old could do better.I then correct you and it's me who's missing the point?

You my friend, is the one who's missing the point.

*Calls someone else a third grader while have the scientific knowledge of a third grader I have no qualms over calling out a scientific illiterate on his bullshlt. If you're feelings are hurt I understand, if you'd like to actually represent a theory correctly let me know. I'd love to bury you.

Resorting to personal attacks just makes you look juvenile. In a debate that is a sign of someone who doesn't know what they are arguing about or against, and they resort to personal attacks to try and escape the argument. In other words you lose. Come back when you grow up some.

And I understand the big bang theory just fine and believe in it. I just believe God caused it to happen.

I don't mind making juvenile attacks on juveniles like you. You obviously don't understand the theory since you're not representing it correctly, you've made this painfully obvious, which also makes you a liar now.

Because the post you initially quoted had to do with theistic versus atheistic opinion on how life came to be.

Just read the convos you're butting in ffs.
