[QUOTE="-Jiggles-"][QUOTE="Crushmaster"][QUOTE="Blood-Scribe"][QUOTE="Crushmaster"][QUOTE="Blood-Scribe"][QUOTE="Crushmaster"][QUOTE="Blood-Scribe"] [QUOTE="Crushmaster"][QUOTE="Blood-Scribe"]I always lie. (The previous statement is true) Crushmaster
So since you've told a lie, what does that make you?
Just because I borrowed without returning doesn't mean I was stealing. Blood-Scribe
Since you've stolen something, what does that make you?
No, I was merely taking notice of certain anatomical features for taxonomic purposes. Blood-Scribe
The Bible says, "Ye have heard it said of men of old to not commit adultery. But I say unto you, whoever looks upon a woman, to lust after, has committed adultery already with her in his heart."
When we look with lust, Scribe, the Bible says we are committing adultery.
I am a terrible person. Blood-Scribe
The Bible tells us to honor God's name, Scribe. When we dishonor it, we are committing blasphemy.Okay, I guess I'll go repent now.
Just saying we're sorry won't save us, Scribe. Christ is all that can.Jesus said he's cool with it.
Am I a good person now?
...He never said that, Scribe. Look at these three verses:
(Rom 10:8 KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; (Rom 10:9 KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Rom 10:10 KJV) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Those three verses, Scribe, contain the way of salvation.:) What gives? I told him I was sorry, he said he'd put in a good word for me, and all I get is a blob of text over the internet.
Is he a liar, or something?
No, He is not a liar. But saying you're sorry is not what saves you. Let's do a quick story:
Let's say there's a man convicted of grand theft. He's standing in front of the judge.
"You know, judge," he says, "I know what I did was wrong, but...I'm really, really sorry. Can I go free? Please?"
If the judge is a just man, he obviously cannot let him go free! Someone has to pay the penalty of the crime.
Scribe, Christ has paid the penalty of the crime. He paid it when He died two thousand years ago on the Cross of Calvary. However...unless we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, and repent of our sins, our fine will be left unpaid, and we will still be on our way to a devil's hell. You're comparing stealing a car and going to jail for 6 months with lying to a person and burning in a lake of fire for eternity. That doesn't sound just to me.
The point is not that. The point is that a crime has a penalty. Unless we have been saved, we will be paying that penalty. You missed the point I was getting at myself--the penalty you speak of is way too extreme for the action the man did. If you steal a car and are proven guilty, you will probably spend 6 months in jail. However, the logic you're presenting me is that such a simple negative action, such as lying, is substantial reason for an all-powerful deity to condemn a person for eternity to inhumane, abominable torture.
Again, lying to somebody is enough for God to send your soul into eternal damnation? Why is that?
