Under what authority do you have to make that statement?
You can't really control what you think. But you can control what you do.

As do I. Sexual sin is probably the hardest sin to defeat for males. (OMG Sexist!) Even I fail when I try to beat it. But that doesn't mean it's right and that's what I was trying to prove the whole time. :P
battlefront23
Well, that's where our views differ. The way I see it, I wasn't given an attraction towards other males just to ignore it.

So you think if you have a desire that doesn't affect or hurt anyone else, that it is ok to act on that desire.

The way you think is often similar to what you do. And actually you can control what you think.
Have you ever told a lie? Yes, I try to talk around the topic than actually lying most of the times though.
Have you ever stolen anything? Yes
Have you ever looked with lust? Yes
Have you ever hated anyone? Yes, and no words will ever be able to change my opinion on the matter.
Have you ever used God's name in vain? Like as a swear word? Yes, all the time. I don't think he minds that much though since people seem to be asking selfish things all the time.
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged" (Matthew 7:1)

Am I hurting someone by thinking about having sex their wife? How does my thoughts infringe on the rights of others and/harm them?
So you think if you have a desire that doesn't affect or hurt anyone else, that it is ok to act on that desire.
battlefront23
Well, yeah. Under those circumstances, I don't see why I can't act on it.
Am I hurting someone by thinking about having sex their wife? How does my thoughts infringe on the rights of others and/harm them?
peppersfan2
Thinking about it is the root of the action. Just thinking about it won't, but if you continue thinking about it where it becomes an obsession, then you'll eventually perform the action, so yes it can lead to doing wrong, eventually.

Exactly. Which is why Jesus says to take every thought captive.

I'd be upset with myself for hurting someone else, if something like that were to happen.
[QUOTE="peppersfan2"]Am I hurting someone by thinking about having sex their wife? How does my thoughts infringe on the rights of others and/harm them?

No, because it's only a thought. Thinking does not equal acting.
But thinking leads to action. Not always, but the fact that it might makes me try my hardest to not have any lustful thoughts about girls.

The sex wouldn't have been wrong. When you said "hurt someone" I assumed you meant emotionally. And If I lead someone to be confused, upset, or conflicted, then I'd feel bad. More than anything, it would have been bad timing.

Evangelist A: "Why thank you, Evangelist B! Why, all this talk about the Bible is giving me a major hard-on right now. I'm going to take a break. Could you Evangelize for me while I pray to God that my hard-on will go away? I'll be back in 2 minutes."
Evangelist B: "Sure Evangelist A. God Bless."

Evangelist B: "To all the non-believers on here: Do you consider yourself a good person?"
(Evangelist C enters the fray...out of nowhere)
Evangelist C: "Hello Evangelist B. According to God's word, all of us fall short of his glory. No one is righteous, not one. But since I have a personal relationship with God, I hope to become a good person someday and enter his kingdom."
Evangelist B: "Hi Evangelist C!Good job! Evangelism for the win! Praise the Lord!"

Also, yes I do consider myself a good person. Not by your god's standards obviously, but that doesn't particularly bother me as he probably doesn't exist.

that described this thread perfectly
A thought may have been part of the process of me doing the nieghbors hot wife but it did not make me. I chose to do that.
When we start trying to repress the human thought process we need to examine our society. Take homosexuality for example. It hurts nobody but its a "sin" according to some people worthy of punishment by death.
You know I am of that rare breed that considers selfishness to be a virtue. I also consider self sacrifice to be a virtue but I don't belive that a somewhat self centered outlook on life as long as you don't hurt anyone else is "bad"

if you have a weak mind sure that can happen, but most people are capable of seperating what just thoughts are and actions
I don't get why following the bible would make you a good person, as alot of it contradicts itself and the fact its not proven to be solid evidence on how to live your life the way 'god' would want you to.
I'd say im in between, as though ive never really done anything terrible, though im guilty of looking down at peopleanDy-PeNGuiN

The Bible says, "Ye have heard it said of men of old to not commit adultery. But I say unto you, whoever looks upon a woman, to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart."
When we look with lust, Pwnzz, we are committing adultery according to the Bible.
The Bible says, "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer."
When we hate, Pwnzz, we are committing murder according to the Bible.

I already did Crush, back when you first made the thread, but I'll be happy to answer again, here you go:
I used to lie a lot to get people off my back, it's pretty much solved now, though.
I haven't stolen anything since I was in elementary school.
I like women, what can I say? That doesn't mean I go about staring at every pair of bewbs and drooling over every butt I see, though, I know how to control myself.
I always use God's name in vain, I don't see a problem with it, surely he can handle an insignificant ant like myself calling him names?
And I do consider myself a good person, things aren't as black and white as you put them.
I always lie. (The previous statement is true) Blood-Scribe

I don't get that. To commit adultery, you have to be committed to someone. If you aren't, then there shouldn't be a problem.
