Very narrow-minded generalization there.. An atheist doesnt always want to disprove everything ..

All Athiesm wants is truth

Most of human kind would like there to be a GOD.. An atheist forms his beliefs on whats based in front of him, not from a series of proverbs written by men

LJS9502_basic

Do you know what the term atheist means? An atheist in no way admits to the existence of God...or else they aren't an atheist.:|

So how could they understand faith? Answer...they can't.

I know what it means to be an Athiest .. I just said its narrowminded of you to think an "athiest only wants to disbelieve GOD's existance ".. which isnt true...

Athiesm isnt a full stop towards faith at all ...

Actually Atheism is built on the foundations to "question everything"

Atheists ask "Why?"......... how very narrowminded that is ....:P

He's too narrow-minded to understand that being open-minded isn't narrow-minded.

And somehow burying your nose in a book of fables isn't narrow-minded? Ignoring the world around you and settling for certain on one pre-determined path? Sheesh.

Well to be honest....I don't think all atheists question much. They take what science says and only attribute reality to that. Science requires questions...yet if you have read any posts in OT regarding science you see stagnant minds that don't wish to question science.

That doesn't describe me at all.

You assume all atheists are of like mind, and even of like thought process. Now THAT is narrow-minded.

I don't give a crap about science beyond what it has already proven to be undeniably true. That's all I care about. Truth.

Cop out. I haven't insulted you, you just can't win an arguement and it drives you nuts.

Besides, all I've ever tried to do was open your mind. But if you don't reply to any of my posts ever again, I guess I could live with it. You insult just as much as anyone, but just because you do it in a subtlely cloaked kind of way, you think no one notices. Get real. You're only pulling the wool over your own eyes. Many people here would agree with me on that.

That is pretty ignorant to say.

After doing a lot of research on this forum I've come to the conclusion that all religious people are blind believers. (sarcasm)

If you can't conceive of what you don't know for fact...that is the very definition of what is narrow minded. Whether you agree or not...it's true. Open minded means open to other things...not rigid in thinking. How come someone that denies possibilities in anything...be open minded?

Let me rephrase my last reply and turn it into a question to make things more clear to you.

After reading some replies from a random gaming forum which is mostly populated by ignorant kids, you believe that you can draw such a complex conclusion based on those replies? How much research did you really do? Did you travel the world? Did you do multiple polls in many different countries? I've seen many religious blind believers throughout my life but you don't see me calling you all ignorant because of a few ignorant religious people.

I'm not using the forum to come to my decisions. I'm using the fact they ONLY believe what can be proven to them. If evolution wasn't proven....they wouldn't believe that either. It's the inability to say...anything is possible that I am using. Why do you take narrow minded as a bad thing? It's not.

First post today where you didn't try an insult. So I shall answer.....it depends entirely on the context of the word. Being a bigot is narrow minded...not in a good way. Excelling at an area of expertise because one is narrow minded is in a good way. In regard to this topic.....I'm using narrow minded merely to underscore the inability to conceive that mankind does not have all the answers and the supernatural is possilbe. Thus, an agnostic would not be narrow minded. On the opposite side...a fundamentalist is narrow minded in that they can't conceive that science can answer questions about life.

Comprehende?

But with that explanation/logic you can also slap the "narrow minded tag" onto the religious people.

Ignorant is your word...in the sense I described then yes...some atheists would be narrow minded. Unless you can show me how they aren't in the sense I'm specifically referring to here.

Atheists can balance science and religion as well but you are still calling atheists narrow minded. Your logic goes both ways.

Infact, it's pretty pointless to call atheists inferior to theists or vice versa because whatever logic you apply to atheists, you can also apply to theists.

Wait... I don't believe in God because I don't understand it?swizz-the-gamer
No...that's not exactly it. I said they are narrow minded in this specific case because they can't conceive of something they don't see/have proof for. Understanding was never mentioned.

So why did you call atheists narrow minded?

BlackAlpha666
In that specific area....they are narrow minded because they require physical proof. And again...narrow minded is not necessarily a bad thing.

What physical proof? Let me speed this one up a bit. There is no physical proof, for evolution that is. Your argument fails miserably.

It all comes back to this:

... You just fail to see how atheists are the same as theists. You deny such a possibility, which is narrow minded. In your mind theists are somehow superior.

If you don't accept some of the fossils then...and again...I never used the words superior or inferior. I have disagreements with the mentality of some theist...yes. And I don't agree with them.

Why is that many in OT feel the need to edit their own interpretation and words into posts that don't exist. Rather annoying. I use my words carefully. Don't change them dude. K?

If you wish to argue what you accept as evolution proof then do so elsewhere. I'm not discussing whether fossils are physical proof or not. Science does claim fossils to prove part of their theories...unless you are now telling me science requires NOTHING AS PROOF...before creating a theory. Are you?

The belief dude...the belief. Atheist's can't conceive of it...thus, in this area they are narrow minded. And I applied it to those theists that can't conceive of science. I'm always fair....always.

Edit....no where in my posts did I call atheists inferior. Please stick to my words or make your own post if you wish to call them inferior. Thanks.

I'm more referring to those that don't entertain any ideas other than what they are told...and before you misread that...I include fundamentalists and those that don't understand nature/science as well.

That's not what I meant. The fossils are indirect evidence of evolution because we don't know for 100% that the fossils actually played a part of evolution. In other words, they are not solid proof. Similar to religion, you have to make a leap of faith to believe in it. This shows you how atheists can have faith too. This is indirect evidence which shows atheists CAN understand religion. That's the best I can do to show you that atheists are the same as theists because you can't really prove that an atheist truly understands religion, as much as you can't really prove that a theists understands his own religion, because it all happens in your brain or your soul and we can't look inside of those.

This also means that you can't proof that atheists cannot understand or conceive religion. You simply choose to deny it, which is narrow minded. Which brings me back to what I posted earlier.

Ah, yes, I understand. It recalls the quote from Aristotle I posted before: "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain an idea without having to accept it." Since most of your debates center around that concept, it could serve well in your signature.

Uh no. Fossils are concrete proof. That's not what I'm talking about. You are stating that science pulls theory out from the nether regions dude.

I've never seen that quote before.....and I've read some Aristotle. Good one though I don't know how I missed it.

And for the record Black Alpha....I'm not putting atheists down. Just those that do no research and follow the status quo...and I do the same with smiilar theists. I've gotten into arguments against them as well....though not so much here.
