Does not change the lax immigration policy coupled with an ever growing anti immigration movement given an ever louder voice. Europe is an easier target than the U.S. for the type of thing that happened in France.

The "type of thing" that happened in France was due to repeated goading. It wasn't new: they had been firebombed before: received death threats and had security to guard them. They made themselfs a target with a big bull-eyes on there heads.

In the case of the unsuspecting public getting being shot and held hostage.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Marathon_bombings#Dias_Kadyrbayev.2C_Azamat_Tazhayakov_and_Robel_Phillipos

Kalashnikov's, body armor and rocket launchers are not needed. Neither is traveling abroad for military training.

Chances are the brothers who committed the bombing had an easier time access weapons than the terrorists in France. Ultimately though: they opted for a simplstic bomb you could look up in 2 minutes on the internet.

We already have our problems and Europe is escalating in a very violent new one. So instead of it being added to the U.S. it's going elsewhere. Enjoy?

Depends exactly on what part of Europe you are taking about and specifically what type of terrorism. Places like Russia have generally always been a hot-spot. In the case of my home (Scotland) you (as in Americans) are a far more hot target than me: regardless of difficultly. I am significantly safer in multitude of regards.

@pie-junior: Well actually from what I know, it is completely forbidden to make fun of others religions, making obscene drawings of their religious symbols etc. As for people like Bush and the state of Israel, I honestly cannot say because in this case they are openly at war against the Muslims. But we still should not make fun of Judaism, Bush's family etc. In this case perhaps it is necessary to expose the evils of the Bush regime, for example making it known to people the argument of fake WMDs used to justify the war.

Well, will say an islamophobe, Islam is openly at war against westerners. therefore we should mock Its founder relentlessly. also, perhaps it is necessary to expose the evils of the Muhammad regime and religion; for example making it known to people the argument of muhammad having been an imperialistic warlord advancing his cause and influence through oppression and very bloody tactics (or something a little less objective like you would find in one of those islam-is-bad factoid sites online).

also, the distinction you're making between 'religion' and everything else is without reason (aside form the obvious fact that muslims very much like to make fun of other religions, just not parts of the religion they also find sacred (like judeo-christian prophets)). Millions of people support Israel and millions of people are zionists. insulting zionism, then, by your own standards, will hurt their feelings and should be prohibited. the same thing goes with the american administration. But public mockery and insults of both are very very common in the muslim world.

As for the image-making thing, I admit that now I am officially confused. I am not sure anymore but that could probably mean I should stop watching TV haha. You win here.

'I win this'? does this mean you have no remaining rationalization to the mentioned Muslim hypocrisy?

Anyways I think I have derailed the thread for long enough. We can discuss further through PMs :)

lol

who gives a ****

I'm not using this site's PM system.

Like I said they are free to protest if they want to. I'm also free to call them idiots for attempting something so childish and futile.

The way you worded your point might be why it seems so dissonant.

The message I am getting:

A fact: Microsoft's Xbox One pre-release DRM policy was changed due to critics and consumers objecting to it, making it quite possibly the greatest backtrack in gaming history.

Your view:

Microsoft didn't change the policy because people asked them to, they changed it because it was negatively effecting their sales. Which further backs my point.

The only thing a company listens to is money. If people keep buying their stuff they won't change. It's when people stop buying their stuff that they change.

Uh FYI some of those policies were reversed pre launch. Back to your regularly scheduled arguing now.

Ever heard of pre-orders?

My primary guess would be the the right to bear arms (which is intrinsically part of American culture) or something inherently specifically to do with America since it disproportionally dwarfs other countries by an almost incomprehensible margin.

Poor attempts to be condescending as well as obnoxious wont change that graph.

A country having many cultures: doesn't stop a country having a culture. It appears you didn't appear to comprehend that: opting for a poor attempt at character sniping to 1+ me, than substance.

Try not to do adopt that stye like the proceeding posts; or they will just be ignored.

Ad Hominem attacks over actual substance, sprinkled with massive amounts of condescending hypocrisy. Change your style if you want to be taken seriously, right now you given me nothing to work with.

Oh and the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with school shooting or crime in this country, would be the same if it was taken out. The rest is just an obvious troll attempt, since I have a strong don't feed the trolls policy this is the last time I will feed you.

I guess you have been holding your NRA membership card abit to hard. Because that is utter nonsense.

Of course the gun control in the US have a direct impact on school shootings not to mention that peoples relaxed behaviour towards owning a gun have.

Go back to Columbine or take the recent major school shooting at the little school, and you will find that in both cases there were parents who allowed their kids to handle gun from a young age, not to mention that it was possible for them to purchase more quite easy.

Is the relaxed gun control the only cause of course not, the main reason is healthcare and that mentally ill kids does not get treatment in time or is even diagnosed. Particular in the last few cases its clear that you disturbed kids and because they had parents who neglected them, they were allowed to go untreated until they chose their path.

Because having the right to bear arms means control isn't possible. I guess you have been listening to NPR a little too much because this is utter nonsense and mostly unrelated.

The last paragraph is the real cause of shootings, not the 2nd amendment. I still find it funny how people like you think having the right to own a gun automatically means we gonz shoots puplz. I am not even an NRA member or a republican, but over simplifying a problem won't solve it.

@uninspiredcup Yep, more ad hominem attacks and condescending hypocrisy. More interested in attacking the poster then responding to the actual content. Unlike you I gave something to work with, instead of going with it you chose to attack.., again. Funny how you took a joke and tried to use it as some sort of evidence in an unrelated discussion. Again, if you want to be taken seriously, change your style.

Well, you are right the 2nd amendment is something that you just can't bypass. But you don´t actually need to. All you need is for better control, more strict control and then a rewrite of what actually is in a militia because i doubt the founding fathers´s idea in the 1800 is something that needs to be upheld today.

And while the mental issue is the biggest cause, you cannot ever hide the fact that something is wrong when you have 9 year old kids learning to shoot with uzi´s and other semi-automatic weapons. And that the super relaxed attuide towards owning guns even as a kid and lastly just how insanely easy it is to get a gun. Is also a major reason why we see school shootings.

Exactly, the 2nd amendment isn't as big of a roadblock as it is made out to be. Just because you have the right to own a gun a gun, doesn't mean all guns and everybody. Like with a car, different classes for different types of cars. The militia was however defined as separate from the rest a while back.

The real problem that needs fixing first is the root cause. Nine year olds should not have guns or be allowed to use them. Without dealing with the root cause shootings will continue. Poverty, poor integration of minorities, education and health care problems are all more important. The elephant in the room most ignore is how many guns are brought into the US illegally across the US-Mexico border causing a huge black market. Gun violence isn't a simple issue, it is a broad problem that needs addressing. Is it too much to ask for a single payer health care system and better monitoring of people with mental issues?

It's disgraceful that Obama didn't attend the "Terrorism Rally" in Paris today.

He should have been there to lock arms with the other perpetrators and financiers of state terror.

This is a serious thread about world problems, lets not talk about crappy children's toys that can't even do 1080p60fps on high end games.

We aren't. The subject there was can protest change a companies ethics. Someone used Xbox as an example of a company changing it's views because of peoples views, but I still think it's because they realised changing would help sales.

It's relevant because some people here seem to think the magazine should drastically change or go out of business simply because some people want them to. It's a completely unrealistic demand that ignores both how business work and morality.

Microsoft changed Xbox one as no one was interested in buying a Xbox one in beginning for strict restrictions on the console ( always have to be online ETC ), if they didn't changed Xbox one policies they'd suffer a big loss also customer dissatisfaction. Buisness it all about getting a customer to buy the product , so they had to change or suffer losses. It was all good from both side. In regard to Charlie hebdo, if it changes or stop publishing the magazines minority islamic community in france 'd be grateful, but majority'd (french people as highest consumers ) be dissatisfied as they will take it as infringement of freedom of speech and stop buying the magazines altogether. Don't think Charlie hebdo gonna lose sales what minority islamic community in france thinks otherwise. Now their sales gonna skyrocket also from before. In buisness sense, they won't stop and morality wise they shouldn't.The extrimists should take the magazine publications with a salt of water or demonstrate peaceful protest/rally/ complain if it really hurts thier sense of religion at most.

Don't blame them. Some Muslims openly support the ISIS. They believe it to be the next caliphacy. The Islamic democracy we cherished so much during the time of our first four caliphs turned into a monarchy because of the umayyads. It's sad to see people supporting the umayyad type of caliphacy instead of the rashidun type.

Cartoons sucks but it a challenge to extrimists now lol. I sincerely hope these asshats don't try anything again like go on a murdering rampage, but ignore or protest at best :)

They'll keep murdering people. I've stated my opinion on freedom of speech in this thread but I still do believe in one thing. Freedom has a price.

....and the west will continue to fight tooth and nail for that freedom, and rightfully so.

There's courage for ya! that is as close to stupidity as possible. Take my advice, there are better ways of fighting the terrorists.

To defeat your enemies, make war not cartoons, fight not jester, say words of courage not words of satire.

Though, I do support their Freedom of Speech. But still, just an advice, there are better ways to face your opponents than acting like assholes.

fighting for the right to express how you truly feel is as close to stupidity as possible? please explain.

make war not cartoons? nah, that's exactly how the terrorists look at it (and maybe even you lol), i'd much rather speak out against my enemies with hopes of knowledge and open mindedness to win them over. it may be a losing battle at times, but it's a battle i'm more than willing to fight. so no, i will not take your "advice" my friend, i will continue to stand up for the right to free expression. satire is a absolutely beautiful thing.

What a glorious farce!

Snap out of your delusions. "Fighting for the right to express", well how about fighting those who suppress your right to express? Instead of cutting off the tree stem by stem, isn't cutting it straight outta the roots more efficient?

What's your point? You can fight "those who suppress your right to express" and express yourself too.

You just don't want them to print the cartoons, admit it.

have we not been trying to do that? yet we still have tragedies like this. what is your point? what are you trying to convey here? instead of screaming "FARCE!", explain yourself.

I for one have absolutely no problem with them printing the cartoons. What concerns me is how the whole world has now focused on just printing the cartoons rather fighting an actual war against the oppressors. While you people are making fun of Muhammad (pbuh), we here in Pakistan are in a constant state of war. Snipers sit on the rooftops of the schools, army convoys patrol the city 24/7, a police mobile is standing at every 1km of distance, the agents of ISI are everywhere without anyone realizing. Now this is a real effort to break the terrorists' back. After the constant threats of Taliban, they still couldn't do anything because of how united the nation stood against them.

On the contrary, we have you. Whose enemy is Islam not terrorists....

I don't know who the **** you mean by you since if you read on previous pages I was the one who expressly stated that once all hoopla and the "moment" passes then what? What is Europe actually prepare to do?

And again but can be done and should done. Protect free speech and exercise free speech.

@Master_Live: How would you love it if someone started to publicly insult your mother, making obscene pictures of her and putting it up online? No I don't support what the terrorists did but I don't support the publications either. They were outright disgusting and offensive. Ok freedom of expression is fine but that's just pushing the line. Out Prophet forbade mocking even the disbelievers so I guess our idea of freedom of expression is different.

Btw did you know that France banned all pro Palestinian demonstrations? So much for freedom of expression.

You claim you don't support the terrorist but you basically try to justify their actions. Other religions get made fun of all the time and you don't see them trying to murder everything in sight. You guys need to join the modern age. If Islam is truly a religion of peace and you don't support these terrorist than take action and ostracize them from the community. Europe is getting fed up with crap especially since you immigrate to their countries and cause trouble. It seems nearly everyone European I've seen complains about how muslims and middle easterners are ruining neighborhoods becoming violent.

These idiotic terrorist don't seem to realize that first world nations are holding back on them. 1st world nations are trying to be nice to middle east by trying to eliminate individual threats that are the root of this problem it seems they're like cockroaches, you squish one and 5 more come out. If we truly wanted terrorist attacks to stop we could do to the Middle East the same thing America did to Japan in WW2 to put them in their place, they're really lucky that their land is full of resources otherwise the Middle East would be nothing but a mirror to aliens in space.

This entire situation reminds me of that scene in Star Wars: A New Hope where Obi-wan tells Vader "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" and that is exactly what has happened. Prior to the attack they were an obscure magazine very few people heard of and now even people who actually do live under a rock know about the magazine. The dark side never learns...

I'm sure it's unintentional. It's just their artstyle that looks like penis. I'm sure even if you were to tell them to draw a serious picture of some landscape that too would look like a penis. They really shouldn't have skipped those art lessons back in high school imo.

@NoodleFighter: You know you are supporting mass genocide right. It's like in assassins creed where you have the ideology of the Templars. Ridding evil with a greater evil.

Also I hope you understand that I do not support the terrorists. If I came off as justifying their actions then I apologize. Realize also that the greatest enemy of the Muslims are not the Americans nor the Europeans, etc. the greatest enemy of Muslims are Muslims.

@BboyStatix:

Don't be too hard on him. Nukes in both fiction and real life are often the solution to Americas problems. How many Shinto extremists are there these days? Not many thanks to nukes and that isn't even counting all the times nukes have saved the world in fiction. Armageddon, The Core to name a few. Many people would be scared and frightened if they ever discovered there are some problems that can't be solved with nukes.

Personally I'm terrified of an ideology that nukes or the use of force in general only makes stronger but at the moment the use of force making something stronger seems more like an Islamic extremist problem than a western one.
