@quebec946: I shall not go into that discussion, here. We can have that discussion if you would like at Ask the Mods or via PM, but not here in an Off-Topic Forum thread.

THIS!

You have to be thick skinned to live in the west. You are going to be made fun of. Your beliefs will be made fun of. At the end of the day don't worry about what has been said or done and stick to what makes you happy regardless of the jeering. These extremists can't take a joke. Their violent outbursts just adds to the stigma that many westerners attach to Muslims. At the end of the day this is really a muslim problem that muslims can't seem to curtail. So the west is left cleaning up their mess as usual. It's a damn shame they don't stand up and say that's enough.

Again comparing south park to charlie hebdo is stupid. When was the last time south park depicted Jesus nude called her mother a whore and called him a bastard? Oh wait south park didn't do that. South park respected our beliefs and yet criticized us for having those beliefs. That's what freedom of speech is about. It's not about blatant insults.

You should look into some of the black and death metal out there. It makes Jesus into a literal and figurative punching bag for every insult, degrading concept or idea people can think of.

And do Christians kill metal bands because of what they sing about?

No.

Making fun of religion is something Muslims are going to have to get used to if they want to live in a 21st century Western world.

Encourage the government to take military action for starters.

Cenk needs to go anywhere where he can be challenged, TYT cocoon might be affecting him. Maybe he can learn not to fillibuster everyone else and take 75% of talking time. "Of course!"

Making fun of mohammad via cartoons is also not nice ... imo, but killing people just for cartoons is tottaly not acceptable. These western guys should stop making fun of islam since they know it insults ones religion. Just my 2 cents :)

What's wrong with making fun of Muhammad? Nobody is free from criticism or ridicule.

Islam is not part of western culture. Why make fun of a person worshipped by muslims?Muslims not making caricatures of Jesus ya ? These cartoonists should understand posting such images will lead to only destruction, no good outcome will come from it.

I saying in best interest of all , as see 12 innocent people got killed in France just for dumbass pictures. Why bring death upon fellow citizens too ?

The only reason those images "lead to destruction" are because a lot of Muslims are entitled, violent people who think they can be free of criticism and offense. The freedom of speech protects every human beings right to say WHATEVER they want and not be punished for it so long as it does not incite violence (usually in the sense of "go out and burn down the town" or "kill all black people", not in the sense that people retaliate for finding it offensive).

These Muslim extremists are to blame. The freedom of the media to express itself satirically is something that was fought for and many millions of people died for. Muslims need to learn to take a joke, like every other Western religion has.

And these people did not die because they posted satirical imagery. They died because these extremists are hateful, murderous bastards who think the only way to "win" is by killing those who disagree with them. That is not what modern, civilized people do.

DO NOT defend the extremists by thinking it's the artists/magazines fault for publishing the images.

I hate terrorrists with a passion, and i want who killed those12 innocent french people should be punished asap.

All i'm saying is why make fun of ones religion when you know the extremists don't take to it easily? They retaliate. Why provoke ? Why endanger life of own kin also in the process.

Sacrifice freedom for nothing.

You are right respect is earned, but this is not just about respect, this is about freedom of speech, its the cornerstone in any free western world, and just because we in the west have been kind enough to say to places at war or suffering "come up here and live with us" it does not mean that we are suddenly dispectful because we don't acknowledge some backwater religion and agree to let their beliefs dictate our way of life. Infact if you want to talk about being dispectful, its those people who are showing us dispect by not accepting fundamental principals we have built our countries and systems on.

Not to mention that if we allow this group to be "special" what group is next? Because how can we say no next time and are you ok with the fact that you are telling people that if they want something done, all they have to do is pick up a gun and shoot a bunch of people, and we as a society will buggle like a branch in a hurricane.

And as someone who have done 2 tours in Afghanistan i would as the chief-editor of Charlie rather die standing than on my knees.. Because that is what freedom is about and no extremist is going to ruin my world just because they follow some insanity they created.

Horrible though the attack was, it should nonetheless be seen in the context of France's own extensive use of military action abroad.

The latter is not limited to French participation in the depredations of Afghanistan and Iraq (as part of ISAF), but also includes military activity in North Africa that was cynically presented as "humanitarian" but that really entailed killing people who stood in the way of French and/or IMF economic goals.

The attack could even be seen as a legitimate act of war ...

France joined "The War on Terror (TM)" and Terror decided to fight back.

Only a douchebag like yourself would attempt to justify the slaughter of unarmed civilians.

There has been a lot of discussion about freedom of expression and that is the core issue but what hasn't been discussed as much is the free market. These people are producing a product. No one is forcing anyone who doesn't want the product to buy it or view it. There isn't anyone getting physically hurt or abused from the production of this product and if anyone finds the topic disturbing or the style of humour offensive it is well within your rights to not purchase their product.

Hopefully they use rubber bullets and tear gas. Or get really hurt: but live. KIlling them would be getting off easy.

Saying though though: they have tried there best to live so far. Much like the Boston Bombers.

Where exactly did I mention that officer anywhere in my post? The OP talks about the suspects, and those are the people I refer to in my post. I've edited my post, to avoid further confusion.

Huh? The terrorists walked into a newspaper office and shot a bunch of unarmed people. Don't think anybody was using them as human shields.

Several years ago, terrorists shot a bunch of children in a russian school in Beslan. Horrible thing. Despite Russia's atrocities in Chechnya, nothing justifies killing innocent people. Wasn't right then, isn't right now.

Don't worry, that will happen. I'd have zero problems with a cartoon depicting jesus nude and calling his mother a whore. I would think that would be hilarious as hell. I'd let my kids watch it too. I think religious people of all faiths are hypocrites. They need a figure head to give them a moral compass. They can also clear their conscience of an immoral act by asking forgiveness from their imaginary friend. They also want to impose their dogma on others. buhh....buhhh....buhhh daddy daddy! he made fun of me....

grow a sense of humor.

Seriously ?

I don't have any fuss over any religious shit whatsoever , but c'mon .....sense of humor can be grown in a rational way ....you'd let your kids watching a show where an elder gets such an offensive treatment for the sake of them having a sense of humor.......it's just pathetic !

an elder? hmmm....didn't know him. don't give a pooh about it.

By elder i don't mean a prophet or sth , i mean someone who's older than'em ....after all respecting an elder is a good thing for kids, don't u think?

No. Not all elders are worth respecting. Respect is earned. I earn my kids respect. My parents earned mine. I earned theirs.

Bravo! Well said!

Hot woman suspected of being terrorist.

It's assumed the fellow on the right is the fellow holding the Jewish shop (as well as the one who shot the female officer) . But no one has a clue where she is or if she is possibly involved.

Flash bangs and shit going off. Seems like they are going in. (the printers).

Smoke grenades or possibly tear gas. Hope the cunts don't die: that would be giving them what they want.

It's funny how ppl regard "disrespect" as "freedom"! Yeah you're free to do anything ....but mocking and making fun of "anyone" shows how much of an asshole you are ...

This must be a bad troll attempt.

Well they're dead now. (the ones in the printers) I assume the others are dead as well. The police assaulted both sites simultaneously using what seemed like distraction grenades and tear gas.

Maybe there should some sort of Muslim registry system and psychiatric test for immigrants.

We could also make radical Islam a mental illness. Not like this any different from a schizophrenic going a shooting spree at a school.

Gotta make a topic outta "Respect" , dunno ....can't argue with that ..u can say elders can be evil so they shouldn't care....but the thing is u gotta learn them the concept of "respect" ...this approach of yours may make them bewildered ...

@Jebus213 Took that back, my bad.
