Maybe there should some sort of Muslim registry system and psychiatric test for immigrants.

We could also make radical Islam a mental illness. Not like this any different from a schizophrenic going a shooting spree at a school.

But we defeated the Nazi's.

You do realize a Muslim gave his life attempting to defend the very people mocking his religion?

If you ask me: he's the hero. Very definition of selfless.

Dont waste your breath on trolls like that.

You will just get drawn down and debate serves no purpose.

Yes.

lol I go back and edit my original post to avoid further confusion, only to have you ignore it and call me a troll. If anyone's "drawing down" this "debate" it's you, with your lackluster reading comprehension. There's a certain irony in you two calling ME a troll.

Don't worry, that will happen. I'd have zero problems with a cartoon depicting jesus nude and calling his mother a whore. I would think that would be hilarious as hell. I'd let my kids watch it too. I think religious people of all faiths are hypocrites. They need a figure head to give them a moral compass. They can also clear their conscience of an immoral act by asking forgiveness from their imaginary friend. They also want to impose their dogma on others. buhh....buhhh....buhhh daddy daddy! he made fun of me....

grow a sense of humor.

Seriously ?

I don't have any fuss over any religious shit whatsoever , but c'mon .....sense of humor can be grown in a rational way ....you'd let your kids watching a show where an elder gets such an offensive treatment for the sake of them having a sense of humor.......it's just pathetic !

an elder? hmmm....didn't know him. don't give a pooh about it.

By elder i don't mean a prophet or sth , i mean someone who's older than'em ....after all respecting an elder is a good thing for kids, don't u think?

No. Not all elders are worth respecting. Respect is earned. I earn my kids respect. My parents earned mine. I earned theirs.

Gotta make a topic outta "Respect" , dunno ....can't argue with that ..u can say elders can be evil so they shouldn't care....but the thing is u gotta learn them the concept of "respect" ...this approach of yours may make them bewildered ...

@Jebus213 Took that back, my bad.

straight A students. good kids with big hearts. think i'm doing alright. thanx for the parenting advice tho. lolololol....

But whatever. I've read your post: and yes I acknowledge you where not talking about all of them. Reading all the reactionary hate: I assumed you where.

@Jebus213 I haven't read the news correctly, I'm studying and not the ''follow the news everyday'' type of person. Anyways france shouldn't have mocked anything about our religion or about our prophet and these muslims shouldn't have killed anyone or held hostages (and I just knew minutes ago that they held hostages as well) and they don't represent every other muslim of course.

It wasn't France, it was a specific publication in Charlie Hebdo. And why should your religion be exempt from mockery? Don't you believe in freedom of expression?

First off, France didn't mock anything. A group of satirists did.

Second, just because somebody mocks something that's important to you doesn't mean you go out and kill them for it.

@Master_Live: How would you love it if someone started to publicly insult your mother, making obscene pictures of her and putting it up online? No I don't support what the terrorists did but I don't support the publications either. They were outright disgusting and offensive. Ok freedom of expression is fine but that's just pushing the line. Out Prophet forbade mocking even the disbelievers so I guess our idea of freedom of expression is different.

Btw did you know that France banned all pro Palestinian demonstrations? So much for freedom of expression.

Apples and oranges. You're comparing slander to satire. The prophet isn't alive. He's not your mother. Or your father. Or your uncle.

You need thicker skin. The world will not change for you, no matter how many people you blow up or murder. In fact, it makes us want to fight against your beliefs even more.

@airshocker: We love the Prophet more than we love our own mother. This the protective jealousy that we feel when people insult someone dear to us. Something that you clearly lack. To see the leader of mankind, the last and final messenger of God who was sent as a mercy to makind, ridiculed is downright hurtful. But I will react in accordance to God's word.

"When ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme." [Qur'an 4:140]

"And when they hear vain talk, they turn away therefrom and say: "to us our deeds and to you yours; peace be to you." [Qur'an 28: 55]

"Hold to forgiveness, command what is right; but turn away from the ignorant." [Qur'an 7:199]

"Have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity)." [Qur'an 73:10]

"And the servants of Allah . . . are those who walked on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say 'Peace'" [Qur'an 25:63]

"Allah is with those who restrain themselves." [Qur'an 16: 128]

". . . But they uttered blasphemy . . . if they repent, it will be best for them, but if they turn back, Allah will punish them." [Qur'an 9:47]

These terrorists did not act in accordance to the commandments of God.

@toast_burner: Hmm what you say is indeed true. Perhaps I should rephrase my wording. What I want to say is that the actions of the magazine are immoral. But is it illegal? No. Does the law in France allow it? Yes. Do I agree with that law? No. That is all there is to it.

Now that I think of it a better approach to tackle this situation would have been to organize peaceful protests against the people of these magazines to stop making such drawings because that would also fall under our freedom of expression so I think I get your point in a way.

People make fun of me and my loved ones all the time. Don't pretend that Muslims are the only group in the world that receives any kind of hate.

Yes being laughed at sucks, but tough shit, you just have to get used to it. Just because you don't like it that doesn't mean people shouldn't be allowed to do it. If you want to defend him in a debate do so, but don't start protesting that they shouldn't be allowed to say something you don't like. Would you like it when people start protesting outside Mosques and government saying that Muslims should be either deported or converted?

It seems to me that your disagreement is that the journalist were allowed to do what they did. What else would you be protesting about? Like I said you can just not read the paper, they can only keep making it if people keep buying it.

It's amazing that you can't see the stupidity in protesting to get freedom of expression banned.

These Are The Charlie Hebdo Cartoons That Terrorists Thought Were Worth Killing Over

Making fun of mohammad via cartoons is also not nice ... imo, but killing people just for cartoons is tottaly not acceptable. These western guys should stop making fun of islam also since they know it insults ones religion and they retaliate. Why provoke ? Just my 2 cents :)

Eh... Mohammad is no more immune to satire and parody than any other religious figure, nationality, ethnicity, etc. Either it's all OK or none of it's OK. That's why I like South Park. Everyone gets its.

And well, if they stop doing comics because of attacks, then "the terrorists win". But yes, I do agree that the actions of the terrorists were reprehensible.

See pictures were offensive i agree, they could've protested to ministry / consulates or hold a rally (many people'd have agreed or joined to the cause). And thats how protests are done. But killing for pictures? How insane was that ? And what good was done for that ? More dirty pictures incoming , people hating more on extremists and the offenders dead.

Example say toast_burner regularly insults my religion on OT, should i need to kill for that or complain to mods or community manager? Still if i see no action taken, i'd leave. Killing him will do me what good? I'll end up in prison myself.

All i'm saying is why kill ( no matter how insulted you get ) ? Insult him back in same words or complain.

I admire your religious knowledge ...

You gotta accept the fact that cultures are different , and everyone should respect whatever the culture of a community or society is ...the act of extremists is utterly unacceptable , there is no excuse for that whatsoever....

@toast_burner: I am only stating my disagreement to what the authors did. I have the right to protest and disagree with what they draw. And if people protested saying that Muslims should be deported I would protest to their protests. Freedom of expression mate.

It seems to me that your disagreement is that the journalist were allowed to do what they did. What else would you be protesting about? Like I said you can just not read the paper, they can only keep making it if people keep buying it.

It's amazing that you can't see the stupidity in protesting to get freedom of expression banned.

He has the right to protest. By telling him he shouldn't, you are essentially doing the same thing you're not wanting him to do. How about this? How about the paper ignore his protest? They have that right, too. If they decide to pull the comics, that's on THEM. No law forced that publication to withdraw their content; they merely listened to the protester, which also is their right.

Sorry, but the hypocrisy in your statement needs to be highlighted.

Where did I say he shouldn't be allowed to protest? What I'm saying is that protesting against a private company can't achieve anything, so only an idiot would do so. If he wants to waste his time he can.

I really wish they could have taken them alive, as to not martyr them. But oh well, bastards are dead and we all need to learn from this (that our freedoms are not to be given up in the face of threat of violence).

At this point, I think the only way to respond to the violent extremists is through violence. They will not ever listen to reason or come to a diplomatic solution. We cannot stay in denial any longer.

Your religion is should be completely open to ridicule and criticism. If it cannot defend itself with words and debates against outside criticism, then it is doomed to disappear. Violence is not a solution to defending one's religion, especially when it propounds to be one of "peace".

If you personally cannot stand the ridicule and criticism of your religion, then you are obviously insecure in your faith.

I'll let you think on that for a minute. If you can't come up with a single example of how protesting a private company has worked, then I'll concede.

Well how could it achieve anything? A company survives through sales, it doesn't matter how many people hate them as long as people keep buying their stuff. Everybody who reads the magazine already know it contains "offensive" pictures, so why would they stop buying it because a bunch of idiots said it was offensive? All that could come from it is that it would bring more attention to it and therefore increase sales, the exact opposite of what the protesters would want.

The people who wanted GTA 5 removed from K-Mart and Target in Australia is the most recent example I can think of. Did it really "achieve anything"? No. You can still buy the game at other places, but those self-righteous consumers can shop at their favorites stores a little more comfortably knowing they were listened to.

Who knows? If enough Islamic people protest the publication, then it might stop printing those comics. It may work. It may not. Let them try. So, if a group feels wrong by any other group, they definitely SHOULD speak out against it. That's how the world works. Voices need to be heard, on BOTH sides.

Like I said they are free to protest if they want to. I'm also free to call them idiots for attempting something so childish and futile.

So who won? Cause not really seeing, as it has been for oh so many years, anything that isn't going to repeat itself over and over and over again. These kind of consequences aren't even surprising which I find myself loathing mostly about if anything at all. Not acceptable regardless but eh... this is normal.

Seems like it, the ball is on Europe's court. Lets see what their respond is. Rallying on Sunday is important as a sign of unity, defying against those that to terrorize. But after what? After all the hashtags and the hoopla dies down, then what?

This is an important moment for Europe.

What can we really do besides trying our hardest to prevent the terrorist attacks and not give in to their demands by censoring our freedom of speech?

The way you worded your point might be why it seems so dissonant.

The message I am getting:

A fact: Microsoft's Xbox One pre-release DRM policy was changed due to critics and consumers objecting to it, making it quite possibly the greatest backtrack in gaming history.
