As I have said earlier, I don't agree with all of our foreign policy, but I think that the US has gotten unfair scrutiny. It's very hypocritical for the rest of the world to point the finger at the US when their own history is full of horrific policy. The US is a free society and has a free press that can openly criticize the governments policies and show video and footage of incidents. Other nations such as China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, Nicaragua, etc. suppress dissent and government criticism. Human rights violations and atrocities are common place in many of those countries but it never makes the headlines. Most bad events in the US is sensationalized by the press for all to see. That's a good thing because it allows the people of the country the truth, but it also airs your bad laundry for the world to see.

But I refuse to take criticism from certain regions of the world that have oppressed, enslaved, colonized, exploited, and basically eradicated many cultures and societies throughout the world. After hundres upon hundreds of years of practice, suddenly they're the moral authority in the world? What a load of crap.

First, i agree with both of you. The US does receive tons of unnecessary hate, but on the other hand, we have SO MANY IDIOTS. Sometimes i wish the South just seceded, it would really make us look better. However, other countries have plenty of idiots, but since we are the world power, is just magnified by our media and other countries alike. Still, our president is an idiot. I didn't think was that bad until 2006, but now i just can't stand him. I'd chose (almost) anyone over him now. I can't stand all of his religious motivations, horrible speaches, and bad policies.

But on the other hand, every country has a few bad leaders, so it's not like we're the only one. It really is unfortunate that so many Europeans stereotype all Americans off of him, when really we had to choose the lesser of two evils (a common problem during elections here).

Also, exactly why do you think China will be the next world power? They have MANY social and economical problems. Over 80% of the country is STILL in agriculture as a job, and there are so many people that they can't control them all. Not to mention that in some places they speak entirely different languages. China has a LONG way to go before they reach the top.

They are ahead of most countrys with considerable size and also they are the closest to America in terms of the military (although they are still very far behind)

The UK are the ones closest to the US when It comes to military.....The only things China's got going for themare their numbers...and that's close to useless in modern warfare..

Are people forgetting the fact that US fields more than 100 high level bombers capable of dropping hundreds of nuclear warheads all at once? They can't, the Chinese airforce is made up of operation aircraft from the Vietnam era. Meanwhile,the US is about to sqeeze out the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning 2 is on the way.

China imports almost nothing at all from foreign nations so embargoes wouldnt be a problem for them at all....They're the worlds no.1 exporter though.

And the US earns China a HUGE amount of money (The debt has added up over time) and if China was to take it back, the US economy would suffer drasticly. This is why most people (including experts) are worried....

The other problem with China is that all they do is saving their money.....they have a massive surplus and no one knows what they'll use it on.

EDIT: It's not as if a carrier has unlimited fuel and food....this is were nations like Japan comes into play

But give China another 10 years and unless there is a major crisis or something they will be able to take on the US head to head and would it would be very hard to determine who is winning.

So now, you're going to tell me exactly what 700 million people are going to do against several hundred billion dollars worth of Naval Equipment and Air Power. Ok lets say China has no infantry and there are going completly on man power they would have 700 million more soliders...you seem to think that China has no jets or nukes either..they have many and money to get even more....so just leave if your going to think that America can win on nukes alone.

China is in no way in condition to take on the US military...sorry. And I can assure you that all 700 million of the population is in no way able to fight. How about sticking to reality.

China is slowly taking on the role of the Soviet Union in my opinion. China has more than enough military and economic might to take on the US. They might lose if the war would take place now. But give China another 10 years and unless there is a major crisis or something they will be able to take on the US head to head and would it would be very hard to determine who is winning.

About the 700 millions people more in China, well they don't all have to fight, if they work in industry they would be able to fabricate alot more vehicles, planes, etc than the US.

I am saying that they are growing extremely fast and many people agree that China is the next super power. I really doubt that would go to war anyway... they might not like each other that much but on the economic level they both are too close to do anything stupid.

China's growth is going to end in 20 years and follow up with one of the worst economic downturns in history. Peak Oil and the upcoming energy crisis will completely bumb**** the increasinly oil reliant Chinese society. Not to mention the MASSIVE senior boom they are about to encounter.

Hell yes it will. You can expect 30s era Depression standards in the first world. The second and third world are going to be completely wiped off the map. To put it simply, any place in the world that isn't the US, Canada, the European Union, and Japan is going to look like Darfur.

Just something to add to the argument: In a US China war initiated by China, do you think the US would fight alone? It would have the support of most of the world. Like with Nazi Germany, they did not declare war on Britian and France but it was the other way around, out of fears that they would be next.
