But if you want to dwell on the Native Americans....many were killed by....EUROPEANS.

double_decker

That made me smile, that was good

....Of course they were killed by Europeans.......only a fool would say such a thing. With that logic, we should blame the Iraq war on the Europeanssince the American's are from Europe (yes, Britain participated but it was Bush's plan).

I'm not here to debate specifics, I was just reading through and that made me laugh, settle down tiger, bad stuff happens everywhere, and there are bad people everywhere. To me specifics doesn't matter or specific events, atleast in the sense of who is worse. Because of course it matters because they are bad, just not in deciding what country is the worse. Show me the quote were I said that the US are (was? ......) much worse then Europe....

LJS9502_basic

Saying you can think of nothing Europe did that was worse than what the US did...does, in fact, mean you feel the US is much wose than Europe. It's how the language works....

....you're using the same logic you used when you called me anti-american...

I can't think of any thing that is FAR (far, understand what it means? good) worse than what the US did...

Far, in this case, is an adjective and THAT is how language works....

I agree, we have to account for bias. However, it shouldn't be an excuse to ignore what is being said, because even the most biased of opinions hold some water.

Furthermore, with the increased pace towards globalization, loose forms of world government are becoming a reality. In many ways, they already are a reality. When it comes down to it, collectively, every member of the current UN board controls the world to a large extent. Economically, politically, socially, etc. As a member and as arguably the most influential country in the world, we have to consider our world opinion; just as our president should consider his own domestic opinion.

rimnet00

I didn't say to disregard it....just don't take it at face value. If you think you're on the right path it wouldn't be prudent to change course just to be liked. And for the record, I'm not a fan of the current administration.

Come with some examples of actions Europeans has done that's FAR worse than any of America's...

LJS9502_basic

Holocaust....hands down.

Not to mention the suppression of African culture to the point where the vast majority of the continent is in economic, and as a result, political, turmoil.

Yes...that is another...plus a part in the Armenian genocide of WW1.

That were the Ottomans...Turkey is Asia for the most part; They can hardly be considered Europeans.

Now is the US worse than Europe or vice versa?

None is better. they both did horrible things.

Do I hate America? No.

Do I like America? no, I'm neutral against them.

I don't see any utility in blaming he majority of the population for the stupid things their chimp of a president is doing.

I don't blame the majority of the people for the medieval mentality of baptists (let's face it, those are typically American).

There's good people there, and there's bad people there.

Like always in such cases, outside of the country in question, one hears only the bad stuff.

I hardly see Christian nations helping Muslims in a genocide of Christians...because christians in those days were way to fanatic to do that.

you see, the reason Armenians and Arameans were murdered en masse, was religion. And the Europeans knew that.

No..there were others but they left. The Holocaust is much worse than waging a war. Japan was attacked because they attacked us. The Holocaust was the genocide of a people that were NOT at war. And what does Hitler have to do with the Aramean/armenian genocide? Nothing. Those were two different genocides for two different reasons. You're comparing apples to oranges there.

I mean, if we take your logic about allies, we get: The USA were the allies of Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war...so the USA are partly to blame for the persecution of minorities in Iraq during that time...

The Americans killed the indians....This comes up on equal ground with the holocaust.....Yes we call them Americans, since it wasn't just the first European settlers who killed indians....It went on for generations..

I don't mean the atomic bombs, I mean the blockade the Americans initiated when the Japanese refused to trade with them in the 1800s edo japan....

I'm still saying that the Americans and Europeans was equally cruel....

That is a stupid comparison.. The reason why people had so much animosity for those two governments is because the iron heel they had at so many peoples throats... They conquered multiple nations, thats not jealous, thats hate for not getting the hell out of their own country..

I think our politics and history leave us open to criticism. I don't think being criticised is a bad thing at all. But when people start bashing the American people I take it personally. My sister spent a year working in a Guatemalan orphanage, and my Mom runs a charity for a Hatian orphanage, and helps the Mexican workers at the local grocery market learn English. Its ok to be biased when there is good cause, but I hate it when people generalize all Americans in a negative way.

[QUOTE="hair001"]There's a reason for most of the America bashing and it's called jealousy. The most powerful nation in the world will allways inspire some level of hatred. Just like Britain and Rome had it.sSubZerOo

That is a stupid comparison.. The reason why people had so much animosity for those two governments is because the iron heel they had at so many peoples throats... They conquered multiple nations, thats not jealous, thats hate for not getting the hell out of their own country..

Okay, so you are telling me that all of that hate was based on purley what nations had done and not their power? If that's the case then why is America receiving the most hate now when it is far from doing the worst things?

The Americans killed the indians....This comes up on equal ground with the holocaust.....Yes we call them Americans, since it wasn't just the first European settlers who killed indians....It went on for generations..

I don't mean the atomic bombs, I mean the blockade the Americans initiated when the Japanese refused to trade with them in the 1800s edo japan....

I'm still saying that the Americans and Europeans was equally cruel....jointed

Nope....try as you might....that was not your initial statement. Native Americans were killed from the start...yes, by Europeans. I thought you said you knew history? The first thing that killed them was diseases the Europeans brought to the country that they hadn't been exposed to in which to build up an immunity. They also killed them with guns.

1800's...are you talking Russian Japanese War?

Somebody is completely blind, most of the world bashes America for good reason. It's like if the Nazi's said "Why does the world hate us?" The question should be, do you buy into the American propaganda?

Buddy if we had that kind of "Jealousy" as it were every RICH person in every nation would be dead. American's are recieving hate as of now due to the politics as it stands.. Why the hell should any one care about us, they don't what so ever.. And I think it utter 5th grade retardation that people want to come and kill us, or at least berate us because they are "jealous".. That is a excuse.

No it clearly has nothing to do with our poor political policies we have had for the past 30 years of supporting every dictator in power in the middle east! No it clearly has nothing to do with the fact we have backed out and broken tons of national laws in the past few years from the missle defense program, nuclear weapons devolpment, to the issue of torture! No clearly it has nothing to do with the fact we go against any kind of economical change enviromental wise, or the fact that our government is controled by business and lobbiests!.

Its hilarious really, are poeple this stupid to believe all this animosity towards a person or a nation has to do with jealousy? Even if a person is jealous of some one, do they go out of their way to punch them in the face.. NO. The reason why people critize us is because we are suppose to be the best and most times we are not. They see its the US responsibility on multiple matters to be the role model and in the past years we have failed miserably.

I know very well that the Indians was killed by diseases.....but it wasn't only the diseases.

The European settlers back then was as European as you are today....You can call them what you want, they're still the peoplethat founded the US. It's a complicated arguement.....when did they change from being Europeans to being Americans?

And is I said before, it wasnt just the first European settlers who killed indians......it went on for generations.

I'm talking about the American blockade of Edo Japan in the 1800s....before The First Japanese Miracle

When they were no longer under the control of another country....which was a few centuries from creation. Many times it was a fight between the two.

It's called scapegoating. Contrary to popular belief, most of the major problems in the world are not caused by the US.

The U.S. does have it's share of problems, as does every country, but if you truely deny this, then you are completely blind.

The only question I have here is why do"certain" Americans think everyone is jealous of them? :? What could we be jealous of, Canada/Europe has everything that America does, sure there are some unique differences but it's nothing that would cause jealousy.

I highly doubt that Canada and Europe (especially Europe) has everything that the USA has. At least not at the same price!

The USA has the #1 economy in the world. Unemployment is currently very low (LOL @ France).

Did you know that Americans actually work longer than most other people in other countries? We're not just a bunch of arrogant fat cats that think that we're better than everyone else. We're great because of our freedom and our capitalism.
