If I accidentally step on a bug, why should I be charged for manslaughter? That's ridiculous.

If you accidentally kill a human you are not charged for manslaughter either.

What?

Killing animals is no more right than killing humans;human life is no more valuable than any other life. Of course I find human life more valuable than any other life, but that's because I'm human, I'm biased and Will obviously feel more bad about harming someone of my own kind moreso than another being.

The key part is "accidentally." An accident is not slaughter or murder.

Well I agree that somewhere we have to draw the line, though in principle maybe it's another question. But if you're killing a human without knowing or any way to prevent it, it's manslaughter?

Um. Either you were reckless or negligent, and caused a death. You'd get involuntary manslaughter, bro.

It's simple. We are at the top of the food chain, and we know it's not right to kill ourselves. (some do it anyway)

But yeah, the food chain man we are at the top.

Manslaughter: The crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought.

You killed someone you didn't mean to. That's manslaughter.

Ok, if that is the definition of "slaughter" in English I admit my mistake. The German translation of that word implies an intention.

Oh yeah, this has nothing to do with the language/definition. It's actually just the law (here in the US, at least).

That's part of nature. Just as when we eat meat as I said in my OP. Ants doesn't kill or torture other ants for fun. I think.

Sure is. Killing is always a bad move if it doesn't have a purpose, like providing food or protecting something from harm. Edit: Thanks for improving my English and letting me learn something jnew guys.

After the male drone has served its purpse (sex) the female workers rip off its wings and hold it underground with them where it dies a slow death.

Or, I think that's how it works.

Actually this is like cars. We could go around with magnifying glass to make sure we're not involved in any accidents causing deaths of insects. But we sacrifice those insects to have more comfortable lives. In the same way we have now cars which causes many accidents. We could just walk and there would be no accidents. But we sacrifice people to have more comfortable lives.

Nature is allowing you to protect your life. Just like the bee only wants to sting you to protect the swarm.

No, it's not like cars. Without cars, we would still be able to move. If we were to go out of our to not harm any insects, we wouldn't be able to go anywhere at all.

As humans we place more value on the lifes of organisms that are closer to us, that's why we place more value to a family member than a stranger and that's why the nazis insisted on calling jews dogs since that way they stripped them from their "human nature" and it was easier to be cruel to them that way. For other cultures they chose to bring animals closer to humans instead. For example animistic tribes gave human-like and god-like attributes to animals like bears for example and that allowed them to respect them equally or even more than a human life. I think that, given what we know now about nature and ourselves, a excuse like "we can do whatever we want because we are at the top of the food chain" is no longer valid. Furthermore we know what our behavior has done to nature and it isn't a good thing. Maybe it is time we should learn to appreciate and respect nature more.

Any bee could sting me...I usually swat them or kill them before they have a chance. The same cannot be said for humans. I can't just start macing people on the street because they could harm me. This entire thread is based on some flimsy logic.

Depends. Drones don't have any other purpose so they'd just eat away the food of the other bees. Bees are just thinking more practical than humans. They don't lower the swarm prosperity for the sake of a useless individual.

Great job ignoring the rest of my post.

No I do not feel remorse for killing insects. That is because they are not human. That doesn't mean humans are more valuable than other animals, that'sjust my bias as a human kicking in.

Humans are only the most valuable beings to other humans, and cats and dogs or other pets owned by humans.

[QUOTE="spazzx625"][QUOTE="themajormayor"][QUOTE="spazzx625"] So since I'm allergic to bee stings I should just get stung and throw up my hands and say 'OH WELL, THAT'S NATURE'?

What you mean. You can protect yourself in self defense. I mean you can protect yourself against humans trying to harm you too

Any bee could sting me...I usually swat them or kill them before they have a chance. The same cannot be said for humans. I can't just start macing people on the street because they could harm me. This entire thread is based on some flimsy logic.

You could, but the rules of human society wouldn't agree with you.

Bees doesn't do anything if you leave them alone. I never been stung by a bee. Just leave them alone. Anyway this is really not what I'm getting at. You're at least are doing it because you feel some kind of threat and not just for "fun". Like for example some kids recently put a firecracker in the mouth of a dog and closed the mouth. What is the punishment they can get? Maybe some months. They should get the same treatment fuсking a*******.

Because human is worth inifnitely more to society than animal. And it's for the sake of society that we set up law. Another example: we can own animal, while slavery is forbidden in most of the world.

Because while most sensible people have realised by now that we are just another species of animal, in our minds we still often make the distinction between 'man' and 'beast', with the former obviously considered superior. Why? Well, I guess because bias toward oneself is one of the most elemental characteristics of human nature (and perhaps not just human nature; you could consider it a survival instinct).

So you've never killed an insect? What about germs? Or plants?

You've got to be a troll...
