[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"][QUOTE="Spitfirer"] Where did you read this good sir?Spitfirer

In addition:

The average heart rate increases from 20 - 100% for three hours after use, inceasing risk of a heart attack dramatically. (http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/infofacts/marijuana)

Then there's anxiety, paranioa and schitzophrenia. It is known to cause panic attacks and induce the latter. There are many nonpro-marijuana sites that can confirm this.

And those who claim it's not addictive are godawfully mindnumbingly stupid.

"Mittleman noted that, as an immediate trigger for heart attack, pot smoking is nearly twice as dangerous as sex for a sedentary person, exercise for a fit male or female, a tantrum of rage, or a bout of anxiety. But it's less risky than a spurt of exercise for a couch potato or a snort of cocaine."

You mean a government site condemns the use of an illegal drug? What a shock...

ah, well most of the people i know that smoke weed don't worry about the health effects :P just like to get high. but who could blame them? not me

needled24-7

That's how it goes for a lot of people. It probably the same with alchohol. I just knew a few who cared. They were the smart ones.
[QUOTE="BranKetra"]Never had one. I heard they can be expensive.foxhound_fox
They start at $100 (for portable ones) and the good ones usually go for $250-300. It is definitely not the kind of an investment a casual smoker would make, but would be worth it in the long run (a lot of people pay that much for an elaborate bong).

That sounds about right. I don't smoke, though.

[QUOTE="poptart"]Well......... y'know - the 'wonder drug' reference to start with and little objective critique regarding recreational use. Don't get me wrong it's medicinal qualities I'm sure are well documented as per your post. It just reminded me of the HWA (hippies with attitude) kind of view that was oh-so-90s.foxhound_fox
Well, it kind of *is* a wonder drug. As the years go by, more and more studies keep coming out, showing another benefit to THC and cannaboids. It almost drives me insane that it is still illegal.

It drives me insane as well. The drug companies, alcohol companies, tobacco companies, they all want it to stay illegal because it would cut into their profits. It's honestly disgusting, and we could have a whole 'nother thread on why this sh*t is ruining the United States and the world.

It's probably not as dangerous as alcohol when you're high compared to drunk. But it can still be bad.

It's still a DUI if you get pulled over while high. I've heard of some accidents/crashes with high people.

It also causes memory loss, or short term memory or something. My friend who's been doing it a lot for a couple years now is already showing affects of forgetfulness.

I'm speaking for everyone the same way I can say when you're drunk you're reckless. That's just how weed affects you.

Yea, but some people are different when they smoke weed. Some get really hungry, some laugh a lot, some feel really tired and unmotivated. Not always all at the same time.

People react differently so, you can't really speak for everyone. And even if you drive slowly, doesn't mean you're not reckless.

is it addicting? sure, but anything can be addicting. I can be addicted to smelling my feet and farts. Its all self control, and on you to decide if you can stop. Does it lead to other drugs? like cocaine, meth, etc? Sure... then I guess milk leads me to Alcohol.

It's impossible to get addicted to marijuana. I'm not so sure about the side effects of it, but alcohol and cigarettes are much worse.

Time goes slower. You drive slower. If you're reckless, it's not because of the weed.

[QUOTE="ColdExistence"]

It causes cancer? What!?

Necrifer

Smoking it over a long period of time can cause cancer, yes.

There is no solid proof that Mj causes cancer. Everyday you see thousands of people getting cancer for cigs but how many cases of cancer pop up with MJ? None. Studies have been bouncing back and forth on this issue and there is still no definitive answer.
