[QUOTE="Godly_Cure"]It's not considered cool, but it's a style. Like some people who only worship classic rock. That gets old also.Mercenary848

So what? Classic Rock songs actually had some meaning, not people bragging about money, drugs, and violence.

Now you're generalizing. Not all classic rock songs had wonderful meanings: just as not all songs of other genres are about money, drugs, and violence.:|

There were plenty of classic rock songs about drugs sex and money. :|

Yah but at least they don't all go "I f***** my *** then I made her suck my ****." these are the lyrics to baisicly every rap song and it's disgusting and un called for.

God tell me you aren't serious, it is safe to assume you have a very limited experience when it comes to rap and don't know what your talking about.

Ahahaha youre telling me you never heard rap songs with similar lyrics. I don;t know if your joking or plain ignorant. Just becuase they use salng terms we all know what theyre taling about for instance i'm not a rap fan but how about lolipop- little wayne, or cany shop- 50 cent.

Is that still considered cool? Most people here in the UK don't act like that anymore....

I'm starting to gain more respect for the UK. But ya, this "GHAnSZTA!!" fad has gotta be on its way soon.

Don't let tv and movies turn you into an idiot, there is no cool type of gangster or however you say it. They are just people who found it easier commiting crimes instead of getting a job and finishing school like the rest of society.

I guess sarcasm doesnt travel across this here series of tubes im using.

When you qouted the other guy you said, said basically every rap song. And you make it seem like rap is the only genre that does this. People are going to put out whatever they want if you don't agree with it don't listen to them. Also most of the people who listen to 50 are kid that don't understand the genre.

So its considered cool to say "yo", "homie", andthe N wordevery other word, wear a rag on your head, wear a crooked hat on top of that, wear pants falling off your butt, a shirt thats big enough to keep 10 people warm, and say things like "I iz da man G skillet".

jimmygrace

saying Yo, homie, and using the N word is considered acting gangsta? Since when?! Stop watching MTV and playing GTA games. Look up the real definition of a gangster and how a gangster carries themselves.

I don't care what ethnicity someone is. Acting and dressing like a gangsta makes one look like a fool. Pull your pants up, put your hat on straight, walk upright and be an individual instead of aping a vain, violent and unhealthy lifestyle.

No I think it is ridiculouse especially when some come back and say they have the upmost respect for them, I am just saying that there is nothing we can do. And if you don't like it don't listen to that particular rappers songs.

The thing about rap is that the rappers are so hypocritical. You said it yourself... There are some out there who will rap about drugs, violence, and beating women, and then turn around and say, "Peace," as if to make up for the messages they convey. While it is tru that not all rappers are that way, sadly there are too many 'popular' rappers that are.

In my humble opinion, rap isn't even music. Where's the talent? Can they play instruments? Can they actually sing (and I mean carry a melody... not speak in rhythm and time to a beat)? Can I rap, no, but then again not everyone can tie their own shoes. Flame me if you want, but the day rap became cool and propogated the, "gangsta," idea was the day I questioned my faith in humanity.

Alright I can't change your opinion, but these things have been argued to death. There is a difference between glorifying that kind of stuff and describing it. Some rappers like Ice T try to show gang life for what it really is, but due to human nature some of the people who listen lose sight of that and want to ive that lifestyle. Really it is up to the pople who listen to it to decide, the same can go for whatever genre of music you listen to. And peace doesn't really mean anything just a way of saying have a "good day bye".

Indeed all the gangsters in the world didn't decide on a certain dress code. It isn't about style they are individuals too they can where whatever thet want.

I find the whole "gangsta" and hip hop culture to be the #1 most F'ed up thing with todays youth (and some not so young). *disclaimer* Its not the only causal factor *disclaimer*

It just seems to encourage so many negative habits, (violence, ignorance, promiscuity, Bad taste, disrespect for authority, you name it). Its stupidity trancensds the boundries of race, nationality and social class.

Almost everything about it screams of blatant Ignorance that is voluntarly and proudly displayed, by milions of mindless individuals who chose to follow this 'pseudo culture'.

Like many "cultural phenomenons" there are some outstanding embassadors of the movement. but their merit is overwhemled by the many others who are just utterly appaling.

[QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]Im concluding that in the past 2 weeks GS has been very IGNORANT. Mercenary848

Your not alone these race, religion, and homophobe threads are getting ridiculous.

How is this thread a racial attack? It was meant to incite debate over a cultural phenomenon that some may or may not like or understand. Sure, it may be a sensitive subject for some, but most have made it a point not to specifically pin down any race, religion, or sexual orientation. I don't see what the fuss is about.

When the hell did I say anything about a racial attack in this thread I was talking about OT in general learn to read man.

Ignorant? About what? Read my post previous to this one. This is a perfectly legitimate topic that was meant to incite debate about a cultural phenomenon. No race was targeted, no religion was target, nor any sexual orientation. So I ask again, "Why is GS being ignorant when it comes to this particular topic?" You want them to lock it because we are talking about something, and people are saying things that you may not agree with or want to hear? Most (although not all) have kept it fairly clean. However, some opinions may be strong (like mine), but there's nothing wrong with that.

When you qouted the other guy you said, said basically every rap song. And you make it seem like rap is the only genre that does this. People are going to put out whatever they want if you don't agree with it don't listen to them. Also most of the people who listen to 50 are kid that don't understand the genre.

So you think it's ok the way rappers disrespect women?

So you believe rap takes no talent? Have you EVER even tried to make a beat(digitally). It just shows how narrow minded you are if you believe that you need live instruments to create music.

I'll show you how hard Kanye west had to work to get the beat for his song stronger, it takes just s much talent to do this http://youtube.com/watch?v=a-ZhIgJbsuY as it does to so something with live instruments.

And you contradict yourself to make a point.

"Can rap, no, but then again not everyone can tie their own shoes." Not everyone can play instruments, see your hate for the music has clouded your judgement, but we all know hwy you hate the music.

I apologize. I assumed you were blanketing this thread under the category of, "Bigotry." when in fact you were not. I stand corrected.

I don't think acting "gangsta" is cool. It creates a negative stereotype.

Being in a gang =/= "cool".

It is obvious the TC and from the looks of it you to don't know anything about rap, but you still feel the need to talk about it like you do that is ignorant.

[QUOTE="WildstarGoethe"]I don't care what ethnicity someone is. Acting and dressing like a gangsta makes one look like a fool. Pull your pants up, put your hat on straight, walk upright and be an individual instead of aping a vain, violent and unhealthy lifestyle.Mercenary848

so because one has their pants low, hat not straight and doesnt walk upright is acting/dressing like a gangster?

Indeed all the gangsters in the world didn't decide on a certain dress code. It isn't about style they are individuals too they can where whatever thet want.

They didn't decide on a specific dress code. The media exploited a certain look of rappers that claimed to be gangsters and made it fashionable.

And you guys are defending the gangster lifestyle? Or the look of wearing pants below your butt cheeks and behaving like a punk? Where are you coming from, specifically?

I am not speaking for him because I don't know his opinion, but I am not defending the lifestyle just saying it is dumb to assume they do or don't dress a certain way.

Is it fine to wear a Metal Gear Solid shirt, old waggy shorts, and a pair of dirty shoes?

Most people that dress like a "gangsta" as you put it, only dress that. They dont act like thugs. And using slang is fine when used in the right setting.

But every thug or wanna be thug that I've seen on the streets, does dress a certain way. Maybe it's different in other cities. I can only speak for LA and Seattle.
