For me it's more meaningful. But in the Bible, it doesn't necessarily say that. Do you understand me now?

I don't understand this line of thinking. If a religion requires less faith than atheism, than that religion is seriously flawed.

battlefront23

Why would it be flawed?

Atheism is flawed and its flaws are a result of its lack of faith. You could suggest that militiant atheists do have faith, but I find this to be the wrong sort of faith that shouldn't be attached to atheism. If there is no god, then why must they convert people to atheism? What do they have to lose? I find their atheism to resemble religion, in every wrong sense of the word.

I pray before supper every time for about 2-3 minutes to be thankful for things. And before I go to bed, I pray for about 5-8 minutes repenting and forgiving my sins and asking to watch over others.

Yup.

what about fossile evidence that we share a common ancestor with apes and carbon dating that proves the world is older that 5000 years old

1. What about Buddah? He lived almost 500 years before Jesus and made similar claims. Like what? And was he as impactful as Jesus

2. Rabbits do not chew their cud Lev (11-16.) (I have more if you want them) More. Not everything is menat literally btw. Also due to micro-evoltion, rabbits behavior traits may have changed since Leviticus was written.

3. The author describes a "circle" not a sphere. You used that vagueness to interpret the passage as being scientifically accurate. In other parts of Job, the earth is interpreted as being flat with a dome or vault over it and resting on pillars. I'm sure you would interpret that as a metaphor though. What's the reference?

4.Consider the suicide bomber or the other examples of martyrdom in countless other religions and sects. Doespeople'swillingness to die for their religions make them all true? You should also consider Galileoand, to a lesser extent, Copernicus. They were both persecuted for making claims about the nature of the solar system. They both chose to recant. Does the fact that Galileo chose to repent from his "evil deeds" change the nature of the solar system? Ah but that's different; they are dying for a cause. The disciples died for a person. (Who had causes but I hope you understand what I mean.)

5. It doesn't matter. If I made a claim about any being loving me, I would first have to prove that being existed. That Jesus existed on the earth?

6. I'm not using a list format to be sarcastic or snarky in any way. (I've noticed people do that on these boards.) I'm only listing everything to keep track of the points you made. It's cool. I tend to get sacastic and snarky comments from just about every Atheist on this site. :|

BTW I'm gonna go do my laundry so if I don't post in a while, you will know why.

God Bless. :)

battlefront23

1. I meant he preached tolerance towards his enemies. And it could be argued his impact was as great a Jesus, yes.

Now there's no way his impact was as great as Jesus'. Either way, people in Europe wouldn't have known about BUddha's beliefs yet. (I think, right?)

2. I am not familiar with any evidence that shows that kind of trait change in rabbits. Even if there isn't any, I don't think that passage is literal.

3. ISA 40:22 and I Sam 2-8. I thought they were in Job. My Bible says circle. (Isaiah) Circles are very similar anyway. But that didn't say the earth was flat. :| And the passage in Samuel is not meant to be literal and I don't know why anyone thought God meant that literally.

4. It is not any different. They are both dying for a cause, which is to spread their religion. Yes and no. They did die for their religion partially because of ther cause, but mainly because of Jesus's death for them.

5. That Jesus is a supernatural being that created the world. He rose from the dead.Only soemthing supernatural could have risen from the dead.

So Budha wasn't big in Europe hence he is smaller than Jesus  ok look east mate, there isa continent called asia. Most people live there. A lot of Asians are Budhist of some kind. The religion greatly influences over a billion lives and spreads the message of inner-peace all without any need for a god or violence in which to commit in god's name.

Oh yes there is an influence, and it has caused far less bloodshed than Jesus (not his real name btw but call him what you want its irrelevant - more murders were caused in his name than any other)

No you said it right. I don't see it to be a religion but I do think that it has been made out to be a religion by even its greatest propents, notably Richard Dawkins. I can see why anyone gets the impression that it is a religion.

True, because Atheists BELIEVE there's no God. Agnostics don't believe, they doubt, they wonder...

eloyc

I don't know about that. Agnostics technically can believe or disbelieve but they don't claim to know. If I were a Christian and I claimed that I know God exists, regardless if I had proof, then I would be a theist. However, if I were a Christian that believed in God but claimed to know if God exists, then I would be an agnostic Christian. I guess you could call me a true agnostic because I prefer the middle ground. I don't claim to have an opinion on the existence of god. I can only consider a god as a concept presented by various religions (but I should clarify that a god could be more than just a concept, I only prefer thinking of him in that way for the time being).

There's a lot of conflicting interest. Agnostics are often group with atheists, but I don't really see the two being very different personally. This is how I see it:

theism - believers
agnosticism - non-believers (it should be noted that this shouldn't be confused with disbelief)
atheism - disbelievers

Awesome way to make yourself look like you have no decent argument ;) I suppose I'll call it by it's general name, 'Chaotic Inflation', it's basically just multiple bubble universes stemming from a multiverse. There are multiple ways that the multiverse is brought about, each one of them would explain the Big Bang. Hopefully the LHC will let us determine which one is correct.

Either way, you can't say (or agree, since it was someone else who originally said it) that the Big Bang Theory is anymore flawed than creation is.

That's pretty devout of you. I only pray less than 5 mintues before bed, but slip in a quick one through out the day

Seriously pray meaning you take some time to pray not just make a quick sign of the cross and say a one sentence prayer.

I seriously pray every night before I sleep. It takes about 15-20 minutes. :)

never...

and i still don't understand why you would.

how religious people don't understand that the very idea of an all-knowing being granting your wishes is extremely childish defies me.

i mean honestly, have you guys ever looked up scientology? christianity, islam, hinduism, judiaism, these are no better.

Personally, it makes no sense to think there is no all-knowing being who created the universe.

BTW he doesn't grant your every wish.

I think religious people should pray for what their god intends, not for what we think is best. Most do pray for this. Some do not, but it's their loss.

Only Scientology was created within the last century. Even then, it shouldn't mean that Scientology should be looked down upon.

Every once in a while. I forget to do a lot of things, praying being one of them so on average I'd say: 3-4 times a week about 10-25 minutes on average. For what I pray about depends on the circumstances. If i'm in a bad funk I pray to get out of it, but mostly it's for the well-fare of others.

Every night, plus when I'm very stressed over something. I need to do it more often, and I need to think of something a bit more original to say.

Genetic_Code

Precisely. Scientology should be looked down upon for its Fair-Game policy and Operation Snow White.
