I fully support people coming here legally, learning the language, learning traffic laws, getting a social security number, and paying their fair share in taxes. What I don't support are people who jump to the front of the line and refuse to do those things. I started thinking about some easy, common-sense ways to end the illegal immigration problem that don't even beefing up border security, constructing border fences, or massive deportation. Here are my ideas.

1. Get rid of the "anchor baby" loophole: You know what I'm talking about, that legal loophole where any baby born in the US is an American citizen regardless of their parents. It should be changed to where at least one parent must be a US citizen in order for the child to automatically become one.

2. Stop giving entitlements to people with no social security number: That's right, no free housing, no free health care, no food stamps, nothing; those are for US citizens; if you want it, become a legal citizen, and if you don't want to do that, then go back where you came from.

Do you like my ideas or are you just going to call me a racist for wanting people to come here legally?

I have an even simpler plan. Create a new branch of the military called the Border Guard. Give them two bases along the border in Texas, one in AZ, one in NM, and one in CA. Use airborne personnel as response forces, and ground vehicle-borne personnel as patrols. And the major thing, give a USAF predator drone detachment to every base so we can actually locate the people. Predator drones are versatile like that, especially with FLIR.

Our border would be secure in no time.

As cool as that sounds, there's 2 problems. 1. That would cost hundreds of billions of dollars, 2. it does nothing about the ones that are already here

The Border Patrol isn't doing the job assigned to them. They don't have enough personnel, and they don't have the equipment. Making a separate branch of the military will solve all of that. I'd much rather them spend the billions on this than the billions on broken legislation.

We can use your options for the ones that are already here.

Or they could just expand the National Guard's authority to allow them to apprehend illegal border crossers and put more focus on that issue.

I could deal with that. But they have to give the national guard the resources they need. Predator drones would be a SUPERB start.

Why do you care? Obviously there are people who were born into a life much harder than you're suburban mind can comprehend. They do what they do, you do what you do. Life sucks and is 100% unfair. You don't like the rules, either kill yourself or do something about it. As of right now, you're just complaining, and predators love people who complain. They're the easiest ones to eat.Perd1t1on
I grew up in a dirty trailer park spending most nights sleeping on the ground outside because of how filthy the inside of my house was, not to mention the meth lab that my mom ran out of it; there were times when I didn't even know if I'd live to be 18, so don't you be talking crap about how I was brought up or how "easy" my life was, ass.

you don't make the laws. how are they 'your' laws? Do you see there is no right and wrong, just actions and consequences? Right now, people from mexico are coming in here at expense to the people here. This is fact. But you don't do anything, and neither do I, so why sit around on a website and argue over what 'they' should do. 'They' control your life. Go buy an icecream and then have sex with some girl on the grass.Perd1t1on

Just because he isn't physically doing anything about it doesn't mean he can't have a discussion about it. It affects the US so why can't Americans talk about it? It's "our" laws because we are citizens of the United States. We abide to these laws, it's not laws from Algeria or something.. What's with the last sentence by the way? I'm not siding with his opinion, but really now..

1. Get rid of the "anchor baby" loophole: You know what I'm talking about, that legal loophole where any baby born in the US is an American citizen regardless of their parents. It should be changed to where at least one parent must be a US citizen in order for the child to automatically become one.

UT_Wrestler

Why is this a problem? you do realize the parents can still be deported even if their child is a citizen right?

Unless Mexico fixes it self (unlikely for now) or we step in and help the country to fix it (unlikely) the only realistic thing we can do is to massively reinforce our borders as to at least not let these persons get in in such volumes.

That doesn't mean you're going to give them a harder time by taking away their citizenship you know in case they decide to stay with someone or come back some time.

The last statement was indirectly saying: go have fun, and stop self rightously worrying about human herding patterns. It probably is a problem, but then again lions are problems for gazelles. What's the use of a bunch of gazelles getting together and organizing a 'discussion' over the lion problem.

my solution is simple. president gives a speech and says "All illegals you have 48 hours to leave you are trespassing on US territory after 48 hours you will be shot oh and if you were born here from illegal parents whether from 1 illegal parent or 2 illegal parents you lose your citizenship and must leave as well now GET OUT!"

simple way and gives everyone a chance to leave without getting shot.

Though honestly the best way to solve current economy problems is to get Mexico a stable/good economy.

Here in Australia we put all the boat people on an island and never hear from them again. Yet we still pay for their accommodation, food and whatnot. Our new Prime MMinister said something about just sending them back and dealing with ports that they come from but I didn't really pay attention.

the concept of citizenship is a primitive idea. If you're human, and a society has the ability to care for you without threatening it's own existence or sustainable ecosystem, you should be provided for. It's that simple. And we do have the capacity to provide. The problem is people get this strange idea that anything they own or posses comes from themself. I'm always hearing these strange things like "my money" "my music" "my this" "my that" as if some how it actually is apart of them and that they produced it on their own. As long as people value excessive materialism, we'll continue to destroy ourselves, with silly concepts like citizenship.

In my humble opinion, the only way to truly eliminate illegal immigration to the U.S. is to: (i) do away with borders, (ii) ensure that the differences in the standard of living between neighboring countries is negligible.

As you can probably tell, it is impossible.

What's the use of a bunch of gazelles getting together and organizing a 'discussion' over the lion problem.

So are you saying the US is like gazelles, and illegal immigrants are lions? We're not different species here you know.. You're coming off as trolling now. If you're wondering why people are worrying about the immigration problem then you don't know much about it.

i would prefer that all law enforcement be able to deport,as well as strict laws on employers.

i would rather have any method other than the rfid chip or national id card.

the concept of citizenship is a primitive idea. As long as people value excessive materialism, we'll continue to destroy ourselves, with silly concepts like citizenship.EMOEVOLUTION
It's funny when people say crap like this to circumvent the whole idea of personal responsibility. Everyone who lives in the US needs to have a social security number (both for law enforcement and tax purposes) and everyone should know a country's national language. I can't figure out what the hell this guy is even talking about.

How about we start killing those monkeys and actually doing something about this? Every time someone gets close to the border we should open fire on them. Set an example. Stanley09

You Americans and your fear of Southern immigrants. You're all forgetting up North. The Canada people.

In my humble opinion, the only way to truly eliminate illegal immigration to the U.S. is to: (i) do away with borders, (ii) ensure that the differences in the standard of living between neighboring countries is negligible.

As you can probably tell, it is impossible.

My main issue is security, if nothing else. It's hard for law enforcement to track people down who don't even have a social security number, and it makes it easy for terrorists to infiltrate the U.S. when all you have to do is call everyone racist who asks for ID.

We don't really have an illegal immigration issue with Canadians; the majority of them who move to American come here legally; that's why nobody really pays attention to it.
