It isn't about whether homosexuality is good or bad, but whether its natural or unnatural.

I think the point is more of a counter to people saying it's un-natural and therefore wrong.

We should legalize gay marriage so that the "gay gene" can be removed via natural selection within one generation. There, problem solved.

I never quite understood how some people think that same sex relationships actually personally affect them in some way.

But of course, what other people are doing with their lives is far more important that what's happening in our own...

No, it's brought up when people say homosexuality is unnatural, as in, "not in nature". It IS in nature. BTW, a little clarification here.

First of all: This isn't an anti gay thread, anti gay rights or something like that.

This is specifically against that specific "counter argument".

So a lot of anti gay people say that being gay is bad because it aint natural, pro-gay answer with "some animals are gay, so its cool".

I just dont see the weight of the argument...why are they implying that something is good because it happens amonst animals?

lightleggy

let me stop you right there. When people respond to "Being gay isn't natural!" with, "It happens to other animals.", they are not passing judgement on the nature of homosexuaity itself. They simply pointing out that the argument "Being gay ain't natural" is incorrect and that you look like a stupid asshole for saying it in the first place.

First of all, it isn't "Well animals do it too, so it is ok"

It's "being gay is unnatural!" to which they respond "If it is unnatural, how is it found in nature?"

Being gay is ok because adults are allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies and are allowed to associate with other adults how they want to.

There's nothing to disagree with. Homosexuality is found in nature. That's a stone fact whether you like it or not.

And where did I ever say that straight people should be doing it either? But if we must get into the nature debate, I have a Labrador who used to screw a stuffed Santa Bear until I had his nuts snipped four days ago.

I'm asking that because Murderstyle75 failed to mention why something like the vagina could be considered something intended for sexual pleasure.

Well for one, anal sex cannot ever result in child birth even for a female. Its also an unnatural high-risk sexual practice because of the vulnerability of the anus and rectum. The anal and rectal tissues are delicate and do not provide natural lubrication so they can easily tear and permit disease transmission. the lining of the rectum is not as heavy as the lining of the vagina so it is more susceptible to tears. If the anus or rectum does get torn, it does not heal as quickly. Because feces that pass through the rectum contain bacteria, any tear in the lining is at risk of getting infected. Lining tears may lead to other problems such as an anal abscess, which can make transmission of STIs and HIV more likely. A tear in the lining can develop into a fissure and may extend outside of the bowel. This is called a fistula and it is a significant medical issue because it allows feces to pass outside of the bowel, and requires major surgery to repair.

My apologies for not being clear. I understand why you asked it, I was trying to sort of answer it with my own "proof" against him. Probably not the best time to do it.

because assloads of people claim being gay is both a choice and unnatural. Animals being gay, over 1,500 documented species so far, blows this away.  The only excuses people have left to be anti-gay is religious reasons or "it's icky", both of which are unacceptable reasons

They don't have to shove their faith aside, they shouldn't shove it in other people's lives. that's the problem.

Religious reasons are fine for whatever decisions you make with your own life. Religious reasons are not acceptable when you use them to try to dictate what others can do with their lives.

1. So you're saying that one reason anal sex isn't intended for sexual pleasure is that it never leads to impregnation? By that reasoning, infertile women who find vaginal sex pleasurable don't exist. Moreover, it's a complete non-sequitur; what does the possibility of pregnancy have to do with whether a particular sexual activity is intended for sexual pleasure? Nothing. 2. The risks of anal sex don't establish that anal sex isn't intended for sexual pleasure. That's another non-sequitur. And on another note, anal sex isn't high-risk when the people involved are responsible and know what they're doing. At the end of the day, anal sex is pleasurable for many people. Whether it's riskier, doesn't result in pregnancy, etc. is entirely irrelevant. Moreover, your use of the word "intend" in this context is nebulous. I take it that it means that a particular sex act is suitable for sexual pleasure. In that case, you're making a purely subjective judgment. The criterion for whether a sex act can be pleasurable is only whether it can lead to sexual pleasure. That's it.

So I take it you're religious? That explains your poor use of the word "intend," as though sexual pleasure was something intended by an intelligent designer.

They are unacceptable in that they're full of shit, not because they should be forbidden from being expressed.

If people are truly born gay and it isn't a choice, then there's probably a genetic reason for it right? Legalize gay marriage so they won't be able to reproduce and pass down their gay genes. What's wrong with my logic here?

We should legalize gay marriage so that the "gay gene" can be removed via natural selection within one generation. There, problem solved.

Sarcastic, trolling or just stupid?

If people are truly born gay and it isn't a choice, then there's probably a genetic reason for it right? Legalize gay marriage so they won't be able to reproduce and pass down their gay genes. What's wrong with my logic here?

that's the funny thing.  If gayness is genetic, forcing gay people into straight marriages creates more gay people.

I had a gay roommate, who had 2 gay siblings, after his Mormon parents were marred 35 years, his dad left his mother and moved in with a guy named Ben.

I am pretty sure all gay people are born out of a heterosexual relationship....

Before gay people were forced into straight marriages. If we legalize gay marriage then they can do whatever they want.

There are other factors, though. Gay people who decide that they want to have kids and use surrogates. Bisexual people. Also indications that there is a correlation between homosexuality and birth order.

Actually you didn't. Anecdotes aren't proof, but if you want to use them then I'll add that every gay person I've known (and I've known quite a bit) had straight parents. And every person I've known who was raised by gay parents (again, I've known a few) turned out to be straight.

because assloads of people claim being gay is both a choice and unnatural. Animals being gay, over 1,500 documented species so far, blows this away.  The only excuses people have left to be anti-gay is religious reasons or "it's icky", both of which are unacceptable reasons

Murderstyle75

Religious reasons are unacceptable now.  Ok then.. moving along.

Yep because people are supposed to shove their faith aside in the name of being politically correct.

Can their not be a middle ground between "shoving their faith aside" and "shoving their faith on everyone else through the law"?? Why does it absolutely always have to be one or the other?

[QUOTE="Murderstyle75"] And where did I ever say that straight people should be doing it either? But if we must get into the nature debate, I have a Labrador who used to screw a stuffed Santa Bear until I had his nuts snipped four days ago.Murderstyle75

Can you prove that your dogs testicles were intended to be cut off?

Not the point. But really now. The anus was never intended for sex no matter how you try and spin it.

The mouth is also not "intended" for sexual pleasure, doesn't stop oral sex from being eyes rolling in the back of my head fantastic, does it?

That's actually something I've noticed in my own life as well. So much for the gays wanting to brainwash our kids into being gay because they can't reproduce shit I was raised on down here.

Don't tell me you're stupid enough to believe that only gay people carry the "gay gene" (assuming that it is in fact genetic).

What are recessive traits?
