[QUOTE="Snipes_2"][QUOTE="doom3lv"]Well someone needs to say this. doom3lv
Most of the replies will probably be talking about the Constitution. Freedom of Religion etc...etc...

Exactly! So in their native lands, they never treat other religions equally.
Cross the Atlantic and bam! All of a sudden islam must be treated equally, if not, they are going to claim racism and what not.
Yeah I know, the constitution gives them the right and what not. Just to let you know, if it were up to me, the constitution would have a little * in there and some fine print.

Thank God and all His saints and angels that you have no control over the Constitution then.

[QUOTE="doom3lv"][QUOTE="Snipes_2"][QUOTE="scorch-62"] ^ Missed the point.

What's the point?

The point is, they will use any argument in the book to say that America should tolerate their religion. The hypocrisy is unbelievable at times. Why do the muslims want freedom of religion when they never offer any?

These are AMERICANS practicing their religion. In AMERICA we allow freedom of religion.

This is a hypothetical question, so I am going to answer it.
If it were up to me, I would have no mosques anywhere in the western hemisphere. At this point you are going to call me a racist, bigot and other mean things.
So let me clarify a little bit. The reason I don't want them is because mosques represent an oppressive culture (in my mind). Places like Dubai and so on (which are supposedly west friendly), constantly issue warnings to westerners saying "Please respect our culture and do not wear short clothes.". I know this because I have been to Dubai.
So when they constantly remind us that we are in their land and that we must obey their rules, why don't we return the same favor?
The reason this does not happen is because taking pride in American way of life automatically turns into a racist. So be it. I can live with that. I know I am not a racist. I welcome muslims in this country, as long as they are willing to live by our rules, one of which includes not having a Sharia Law. doom3lv

What "rule" is being disobeyed by building a mosque in America?

The rule against being a Muslim in America?

I'm fairly certain that the presence of a mosque in America does not institute Sharia law.

What I found interesting was that the pope was always for bringing the religions together. He would have supported a mosque near ground zero. Makes me think at least.

We want principles and ideals. Sunshine and rainbows. We don't want any contact with reality.

I believe it was pakistan that had the worst google searches, just terrible things like rape sex, animal sex, the most perveted you can get, the middle east countries are no better or worse than america when it comes to that.

Again, we are talking about AMERICA, also known as the UNITED STATES. Its located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The Middle East is located several thousand miles to the East.

By "backs the murderers of 9/11", you of course mean "feels that the historical actions of America in the Middle East at least partly lead to the 9/11 attacks", yes?

[QUOTE="whipassmt"] Isn't it a little generalizing to accuse all churches of oppressing people with homosexual attractions? And what exactly do you mean by oppression, that's a fairly broad term?

whipassmt

Isn't it a little generalizing to accuse an entire religion of oppressing women?

Also I'd say funneling millions into campaigns to have homosexual marriage, adoption, etc banned....

since when did I say Islam oppresses women? Also it's not really banning gay marriage and adoption since it does not make them crimes, it only defines marriage one way. Also I would say in adoption the good of the children comes before any "rights" of the prospective "parents".

I never said you did, but you directly replied to a post that replied to someone saying that. :|

And yes, it is banning.

to prohibit, forbid, or bar

And there really arn't any credible studies I've seen that show children have it better being in orphanages than with gay parents. Almost all of the anti-gay movement seems to be composed of religious fundamentalists. I haven't met alot of anti-gay atheists.

This is what I know. A tall bearded guy said islam is the best religion in the world. All those who dont believe in it can be killed, and it is OK to lie, cheat to further the cause of islam.
Ordinarily, I wouldn't take that idiot seriously. However, that idiot orchestrated the attacks of 9/11 and killed over 2500 Americans.
Now, I am a little nervous when there is an islam culture center being built there. I dont know enough about islam, but everything I know, I am not liking.
So I oppose this.

This guy Osama Bin Laden is reading verses from the koran. I dont know anything about the koran, but I am yet to meet one person, who can say for a fact that the koran DOES NOT say awful things about non muslims. In fact, its quite the opposite. some of the things written in there are plain awful and insulting to people of other religions.

I think it's funny when you guys think that Muslims in America hate America. You know why? Because they are Americans themselves and in Islam, you should not deny your nationality and you should be proud being an American (in this case). You see, the thing about 9/11 is, some Muslims with messed up ideas did it. Not Islam.

It's even more funny when you think that all Muslims are happy that 9/11 happened. Muslims died in that incident too. The thing about that is, some Muslims (mostly old) in Middle-Eastern countries have this idea that the all "West" is evil and all sorts of horrible people are there. You can't just state the view of all Muslims about 9/11 based on those people. Most people in my country hate Al-Qaeda and think that 9/11 was an evil thing to do. Also, Al-Qaeda kills more Muslims than Americans in Iraq with suicide car bombings.

And burqa is degrading women? That statement is just retarded. Do you know that most Muslim women wear them by choice? Why don't you just go ask them about it instead of saying made up crap based on what you think. Most girls in my school wear them and other Muslim girls don't because it's up to them. No one is getting killed or abused by their parents for not wearing them. Muslim men don't want their women to suffer, no wants anyone to suffer. And to the guy who said women wearing only black and men white? Well did you know that it's part of their culture? Not all Muslims are Arab. I'm Kurdish and I dress just like other boy in my age and Burqa doesn't limit a woman to only one color. She can wear whatever she wants only if it covers all of her body.

This guy Osama Bin Laden is reading verses from the koran. I dont know anything about the koran, but I am yet to meet one person, who can say for a fact that the koran DOES NOT say awful things about non muslims. In fact, its quite the opposite. some of the things written in there are plain awful and insulting to people of other religions. doom3lv

"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." (Surah 2:62)

Yes, clearly because other countries are oppressive, we should be like them, because that will show them.

I will never, ever understand this logic. :|

Most Muslims in America were born here. Muslims have been in America since the 1600s.

Women you should not step outside your residence. If you go outside the house you should not be like women who used to go with fashionable clothes wearing much cosmetics and appearing in front of every men before the coming of Islam. Islam as a rescuing religion has determined specific dignity for women, Islam has valuable instructions for women. Women should not create such opportunity to attract the attention of useless people who will not look at them with a good eye. Women have the responsibility as a teacher or coordinator for her family. Husband, brother, father have the responsibility for providing the family with the necessary life requirements (food, clothes etc). In case women are required to go outside the residence for the purposes of education, social needs or social services they should cover themselves in accordance with Islamic Sharia regulation. If women are going outside with fashionable, ornamental, tight and charming clothes to show themselves, they will be cursed by the Islamic Sharia and should never expect to go to heaven. All family elders and every Muslim have responsibility in this respect. We request all family elders to keep tight control over their families and avoid these social problems. Otherwise these women will be threatened, investigated and severely punished as well as the family elders by the forces of the Religious Police

What is with this comparison with the Middle East? America is miles and miles ahead of the rest of the world. We shouldn't be dealing with the same exact intolerance that is seen in the Middle East.

You could just as easily ask, "Who are the Christians?"; the answer is about the same.

Better than a religous establishment housing an Imam that backs the murderers of 9/11. All that othe stuff is common anywhere in the world, and was there before the incident. I believe it was pakistan that had the worst google searches, just terrible things like rape sex, animal sex, the most perveted you can get, the middle east countries are no better or worse than america when it comes to that.

VisigothSaxon

find that hard to believe, but then again this search was probably put forward by islam hating non muslims so i dont trust these lies one bit.

One muslims in politics. Their culture becomes my business. How would they get into politics? By being born here to immigrant parents who arent citizens.

Ground zero is a cemetary putting a Mosque anwyhere near it is an insult. There are hundreds of mosques in New Yorks, they don't need one there. There is a Greek Orthodox Church that was blown up in 911, which is being refused building permits. It would be like putting a monument to Imperial Japan at Pearl Harbor.

Its two blocks away and its not just a mosque. Its a community centre. You know there is a brothel in the same area too right?

I do. I don't like the religion. Somewhere down the line people in America became so obsessed with pleasing everybody that no one admits the truth.
I am proud to say, I do not care for that culture or religion, and I don't want it in this country.
As it happens, I can't do a damn thing about it. I bet that makes you so happy that the muslims can come into my country and claim equality, while I can't go their lands and be treated equally.
Feel real happy.

[QUOTE="Snipes_2"][QUOTE="scorch-62"] ^ Missed the point.doom3lv
What's the point?

The point is, they will use any argument in the book to say that America should tolerate their religion. The hypocrisy is unbelievable at times. Why do the muslims want freedom of religion when they never offer any?

You are absolutely right! Who are we to have more freedom than countries in the middle east? I mean just the thought of America being a more tolerant place than the middle east seems wrong, doesn't it?

That was all sarcasm for those of you who couldn't tell.
