Is it really worth the extra 30 grand?

So jalopnik just posted this article about the new Mustang GT compared to a BMW M3 so my question is which would you rather have

Mustang is way cooler. Plus 30 grand is way cooler.

I own a BMW 325i, I spent a lot less then 60,000 on it, but I did spent a substantial amount, I never looked back.. its a great car, and I guarantee you it's built much better then any ford mustangimaps3fanboy

I'd choose the BMW, lot nicer and beemers in generally are sexy.

You are paying for luxury and status with the BMW. The two cars are not similar beyond power in any way.

I have owned over 8 cars and let me tell you...the mustang's handling isn't good, and lots of wheel spin and if you turn the traction control off you void tranny warranty. Also i heard 0-60 was the same as the 370z 4.9 seconds. not no 4.4 seconds.

Mustangs are so boring and cliche. I think nearly every other person in my area owns one. Lots of women drive them too, so it really defeats that muscle car stereotype. Honestly I'd much prefer the BMW. The interior is bound to be nicer as well. The only exception I'd make is if it was an older Mustang say from the '60s/'70s, but those probably cost more to keep running than the BMW costs overal...

But for 30 grand less it's probably best to go with the Mustang.

get the 2010 saleen with 475 hp or wait until may to get the 2011 saleen with 535 hp

do not get the bmw. Trust me, you will be happy you get the saleen and if you don't want to get the saleen go with the regular 2011 mustang gt with the coyote engine. It's gonna be better than the camarro ss

What year is it? I'm looking to get something by the end of this year and so far I have narrowed it down to a Tacoma or a 325 but still can't decide.

Its an 03.. it has 120,000 miles and looks brand new. It was named one of the top 10 cars of the decade in terms of reliability as well.. if I can recall.imaps3fanboy

Thats good I been looking at some 04 models for about 14K seems like a good deal. I just got to wait a few for months for my insurance rate to drop before I purchase one :P.

It really depends on how well the previous owners took care of it. Really good cars need a lot of babying to keep them pristine.

I'd much rather have any M3 made in the last 8-9 years than any Mustang, including the GT500. The GT500 has alot more horsepower and torque than the M3, but it's also heavier. The 2010 GT500 can run through the 1/4 mile in about 12.3-12.4 seconds, the M3 can do it in 12.8-12.9. The M3 outhandles it, has a far higher standard of quality in the interior, and lower tolerances throughout the entire car. They're not even comparable. Don't get me wrong- I love the GT500 for it's raw power and great muscular looks.. but it's not in the same league as an M3.

That's another good point. Nicer cars cost more to maintain. Premium fuel, taking care of leather. Making sure you clean off the outside more often. It's just an investment. Hopefully an owner of a nice car knows enough about them to do most of the grunt work themselves though, like brakes, batteries, etc.
