Is it really worth the extra 30 grand?

The stang. They're both pretty much the same. The BMW probably costs alot more just because of the name which would be ridiculous.

yes you spent less because a BMW 325i is not a BMW M3...and a Mustang GT 5.0 would outperform a 325i hands down

Not round a track.

Why don't you look at things that actually matter, such as engine quality (it's not even debatable, German car vs American car) and reliability, even safety is more important than acceleration. Really, how often do you get to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds?

Mustang 5.0. It's cheaper with practically the same performance. Style-wise both cars look really plain. It always seems like BMW is behind a generation in terms of styling. However, the M3 does look more classy, but just not aggressive enough for me.

I do find it hard to believe that Mustangs 0-60 is 4.4. Not sure if I trust that.

Here I would go for the BMW. Mostly because the price would be the same, possible that the BMW would be cheaper. Second reason is that the Mustang GT is nothing more than a show off car here.

Part of the cost is that the M3 is much better equiped and more comfortable than the mustang. Also maybe in a straight line they are close but on a track i bet the M3 would do much better. Now to the issue of money, to me personally it wouldnt be worth it but then i wouldnt want a mustang either. Technically you could also buy a nice used car and make it faster than both for 20-30K.

Rather take a European car over American any day. The M3 looks better than any american "luxury" car imo.

That extra $30K will go to gas, that's why it's so much cheaper. :3 Personally, I would want the BMW for daily driving and the Mustang for the weekend.

Even if the 'Stang performs comparably, I'd rather have the M3. THAT SAID, it's quite difficult for me to say that I would drop an extra $30,000 grand on the M3 until I get to a point in life where that sum of money simply wouldn't matter to me. (not bloody likely ever)

Yeah, what they don't tell you is that the Mustang still uses a live axel...it's like trying to turn a bathtub. I'm not saying that having independent suspension is worth another $30,000, but you're also paying for the name "BMW" and the quality of German engineering. Personally, I wouldn't get either car.

Is this topic a joke or what, an m3 or a mustang LOL LOL LOL.... Any sane minded person would choose the beemer evertime, i think james may said it best when talking about american cars 'more cup holders than cornering' which pretty much hits it dead on.

The mustang is huge in america cos they really dont know any better, you have to feel sorry for them dont u...

I'd definitely take the Mustang. Maybe the BMW handles better, I don't know, but I'm sure the Mustang would handle just fine as far as I'm concerned and the extra $30,000 I'd have would more than make up for the difference. Besides I'm more a Mustang guy than a BMW guy anyway.

All those specs are about raw straight line speed which obviously a muscle car will be better at. BMWs are supposed to be luxurious as well as high performance in both a straight line and bends.

The thing with handling is, unless you're going to take it to a track often enough to justify the $30,000 price difference, when can you really take advantage of it? You wanna drive on a twisty stretch of public road at 80 mph knowing there may be someone else coming the other way at any moment? Not really all that attractive of a proposition, and you'll probably just get stuck behind some old guy going 40 anyway.

In the real world where the Top Gear film crew doesn't get the cops to close the road so they can film the cars going really fast, straight-line acceleration is about the only thing that can really be enjoyed with any frequency.

If your at all concerned about attracting women with your choice the obvious choice would be the BMW

I am getting a new car soon and it's gonna be a 3 series BMW(a normal one) or a white Audi Q5. I'm leaning towards the Audi.

Thumbs up for people voting for the german car. I have both BMW 3 series and a Mercedes SL500. Amazing cars. Mustangs are so common compared to the M3. I would get the M3 in a heartbeat.

BMW

It's basically a mustang + class and refinement.

Where you could have fun going fast by yourself, and also take clients to lunch, show up at work in a suit looking great, etc.

Yes it's easily worth an extra 30 grand.
