I wonder how long it will be before the Venezuelan President accuses America of using it's "earthquake machine"JTWibble

HAARP is real. Please do some real research into the details of the patent on it's technology before dismissing it.

Yeah HAARP is real but not to the extent that people start blaming it whenever there are tectonic movements.

I'm not saying it was, and I'm not saying it wasn't. I do think it's a little funny that FEMA had a huge drill in Haiti the week before the big quake there last year. FEMA's main focus this year is preparedness for a "catastrophic event in the New Madrid fault system," which runs through the heart of the US. Do some Googling and reading on this subject for 10-15 minutes and you'll know something is up.

Not always but people are starting to see a patern and they have to blame it on something, either god the mayans or HAARP, which imo seems real.

Highly recommend watching this whole video and doing some independent googling about the threat of a major quake in the New Madrid fault system in the US in the very near future-

Does your mom not know Japan gets major quakes?

In fairness, this is the biggest one they've ever recorded.

not the worst ever recorded but this is about as bad as they get.

not really this was doomed to happen as stated we have heard not much beyond a murmur from the the tectonic plates out that way based on predictions and scientific measurement. weve been expecting a big one for months to a year now and with every week that it didnt happen the pressure (and magnitude) grew and the probabiltiy of it occuring with it. this is sort of like.. the problem and dilema weve been ignoring for a while now that wee let sit for too long. and as a result were caught unaware.

That's quite something for an area known to have frequent natural earthquakes. So on second thoughts,I am not quite sure what to make of thos Auroral Reasearch program theory that some people have already stated in this thread. But whatever it is,I hope Japan gets over this quickly. After all tenacity and willpower are something that Japanese have in abundance.

overreact and typical media hype to create public panic to west coast and hawaii.

First of all, it's rural area in Japan, like Maine in United States or PEI in Canada. It has very little (or none) economicsimpact to ppl living in North America, unless you have flight to Japan today, so you might get few hours delay. check nasdaq and dow today.

7.2 is a big one. That was our warning. It was actually 2 days ago, not last week like I said previously.

Yes, yes, yes. The end of the world is nigh and we are all going to die slow painful deaths toiling in the gold mines of the anti-christ who runs the one world government, starving and dying of thirst, 666 branded onto our heads. (lets pretend not to know that was a mistranslation and it's actually 616) Gotta love the rapid response of the internet conspiracy crew. your pretty ignorant

japan is pretty important and anything damaging to them on their pacific side does actually do some harm. japan is a leading exporter of stuff int he east and a major center of science and manufacturing. this is going to elave a significant welt everywhere.

prices on asian imports of specific goods will probably go up

and the IT industry dont even get me started on any possible traffic rerouting thats going to have to happen.

This is truly a tragic event indeed. Not to mention that we have a economy to worry about since we import alot from Japan in the US. It is only been the third month of 2011 and so far, it has a tragic one.

No.Actually selfishness more than ignorance infuriates me when I hear this kind of BS.It's like "oh why should I care as long as I have my job and the Walmart in my neighbourhood?"!

People are getting so self-centred and hypocritic make me feel it would have been nice had there been a Doomsday or two.At least people would understand humanity more than ever!!!!!

Using Air Force planes, the U.S. government has sent over coolant for the Fukushima nuclear plant, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday. Japan's officials say a small radiation leak could occur at the plant after Friday's earthquake and tsunami. http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/11/live-blog-japan-earthquake/

Personally I feel that should not happen to any nation. In all nations, the good people outnumber the bad people, trust me.....so in the end good people suffer more than the nefarious ones in these catatrophic situations.

The one that people are starting to talk about is the New Madrid Fault Zone in the middle of the US. FEMA is already gearing-up big-time for a massive quake that could split the US in 2 and put much of the south-central US under water.

I send my condolences to the people living in Japan. What annoys me though is that the govt of my country (Britain), wants to send Japan so many millions (or billions) in money to help them recover from the earthquake. We should think of ourselves first, before putting our country in even more debt than it already is. If something really bad like this happened to us in our country, Japan wouldn't give nowt. Guarantee it.
