[QUOTE="Mister_Mushroom"] Do you really believe that you *personally* know more about God and Christianity than the entirety of the Roman Catholic Church since the time of Christ :| ?LJS9502_basic

I know what God has revealed in His Word. That is what I try to live by. A Biblical Christian bases their beliefs on God's revealed Word and not on Church traditions, unless they are clearly supported by Scripture from the whole counsel of the Word of God. . We test everything against the Word of God as guided by the Holy Spirit.

You're supposed to live the Gospel...not just quote it.

Is that your attempt to live the Gospel or just judge me? Tell me,, in your state of omniscience regarding how I live my life, the color of my shirt or the temperature where I am.

Yet you avoid any mention of the Scripture about helping others.

while we re on the subject of Christian living, I have never seen you share the Gospel either.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Is there any room for free, independent thought in any of that?

Of course there is and great joy as well. Biblical Christianity helps keep one from many errors found in the world as well as keeps one in God's blessings.

That response doesn't seem to shout out "FREE THOUGHT!" to me, but hey, what do I know...?

What are these errors of which you speak?

Are you now claiming onmiscience? Do you know what I do in service of the Lord? Do you know what ministries I am involved in? By the way, what color shirt am I wearing and what the outside temperature is where I am? One of the evidences of true salvation, not a condition for it, is that saved and serving Christians do good works in the service of the Lord. Another is that they are not conformed to the world and the many ungodly things it offers such as ungodly music. They try to live holy and righteous lives in obedience to God's Word, as opposed to some that identify themselves as Christians and live their lives from Sunday to Sunday, not much different than non-believers. If one does not do good works in service to the Lord, it is an indication that they are not saved and serving Christ.

But the works are the evil..:o Exactly what I've been reading here the last two days. Wouldn't it be hypocritical to condemn others for doing doing "works" in this case?

Ungodly music? Would that not be judging?

Let me tell you something. When you come on a thread, Biblical Christians really do not say much to you. You are frequently the one that starts harping on Biblical Christians just as you did with Crush. I really don't care to discuss much with you as we are from different faiths. Catholicism is not Biblical Christianity, even the Catholic Church readily admits that. You are entitled to believe whatever you want but when you start maling comments about Biblical Christians as you often do, then be prepared to be called to account. You use terms like "Catholic bashing"for dramatics. No one has "bashed Catholics"as you state and you know it.

If you want to debate the Biblical differences between Catholicism and Biblical Christianity based on God's Word, then name a time and place and I will be glad to debate you on that subject.

Good for you. So are you saying that you have never sinned according to God's standards of righteousness? God says we are all sinners. Biblical Christianity is not a religion. Religions are man made and are man's attempt to reach up to a holy God and earn salvation through works. The Bible says that all of our works, no matter how good we think they are, are as filty rags to God. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. Biblical Christianity is a personal relationship with Christ. It is God, in love reaching down to His fallen and sinful creation, offering a path to salvation through His grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, not of works lest any man should boast.

I never said I "never sinned". I said that I don't do quite a few of those things mentioned in the Bible. ...without an actual Bible to tell me so, no less.

I don't see how Biblical Christianity isn't a religion, though. You're basing your entire system of beliefs on one book. Biblical Christianity is man made (man wrote the Bible) and are an attempt to reach out to god (seeing as you're always talking about your personal relationship with him). The "through works" bit, though, should not be in the definition of religion. Be it your attempt to differentiate yourself from other Christians or whatever, but a religion does not have to focus on doing good works. As long as it's a strong system of beliefs and morals with some sort of supernatural power, it's a religion.

Wrong. I responded to a "biblical Christian" bashing other religions and condemning the followers. Clearly against the NT teachings as well. As a Christian I don't like the bad rep that all Christians get associated with due to the comments of a minority of Christians. I will correct that impression regardless whether you like it or not.

There you go again taking shots with a critical spirit. Even with your claimed omniscience, you can have no idea what transpires in Pm's between members that talk privately. By the way Christians don't save anyone, the Holy Spirit working in their hearts convicts people and leads them to repentance and a saving knowledge of Christ.

Christ commands us to share the Gospel. He didn't say if we feel like it. I can't speak of my opinion of your success as I have never once seen you spread the Gospel as Christ commands.

Christians are called to be holy and be in the world but not of the world. We are called to be separate, not conformed to the world. We have talked about this before and need not discuss it further.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I think it's safe to say that even Christ would notice when all of his words are falling on deaf ears. ...like what's happening now.

I don't think he'd mind if you cut back on the evangelizing on GameSpot a bit. I haven't seen too many people genuinely converted on a message board.

Actually Jesus told his disciples if a town was not receptive to the message to leave and shake the dust from their feet. Not stay and pound them over the head with it.

Wow.

A clear piece of satire that would demand the most oblivious of readers to take it seriously, and it gets toppled half way through the first page, and then deranged into another religious debate.

Only in OT...

I am sorry but I find this thread and your unsupported claims regarding Jesus Christ, offensive to Christians. You compare followers of Christ to sheep and a food supply. This is offensive to followers of Christ.

You are free to believe whatever you want about vampires but I do not find it acceptable to blaspheme our Lord and Savior with unsupported opinions and claims calling Christ a vampire and Christians sheep, a food supply.

Care to supply some real hard evidence, other than novels and opinions from web sites to support your historically incorrect assertion. For example manuscript evidence, eyewitness testimony from ancient writers, or the proof of the "occult teachings of Christianity prior to Constantine". How about some proof for the claim that you made that that "Jesus was Dracula." Show us some ancient writers that existed at the time of Jesus and recoded their eyewitness testimony.

You wrote, "I'm just curious, how will this knowledge, the scientific fact that Jesus was Dracula" and "Dracula did not claim to be a God", well Jesus did claim to be God so you just refuted your own claim.

You identify yourself as Christian. Well Christians put their faith in Jesus Christ and live their lives base on God's Word revealed in the Bible. Perhaps you can point me to Scripture that reveals that Christ is Dracula. The Bible teaches that we cannot serve two masters so how do you reconcile your belief in Jesus as Dracula, a Jesus that is not the Biblical Jesus with the Jesus revealed in the Bible?

blackregiment
Perhaps you can point me to a biblical event that makes any sense at all, or that is possible. Please, Jesus might as well be a vampire, or Humpty Dumpty, or a flying freaking noodle monster.

As a Christian I don't like the bad rep that all Christians get associated with due to the comments of a minority of Christians. I will correct that impression regardless whether you like it or not.

And I don't like the image that Christians that conform to the world and live their lives living no different than non-believers from Sunday to Sunday give to non-believers either. They look at these Christians as see them living not much different than them, listening to ungodly music, etc. and get the wrong understanding of what a personal relationship with Christ is all about. Christians are called to be separate and not be conformed to this world. Conformed to the world and liberal Christians have done more to hurt Christianity than just about anything including the myth of evolution.

God did not say the following with the qualifier, "do these things unless they cramp your style" or "don't take these things seriously, they are only suggestions" .

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1Pe 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

That is the difference between Biblical Christians that take what God has said seriously and try to live by it and Christians that are conformed to the world and care more about being liked by non-believers that being obedient to God's Word and sharing Hs truth.

That is the difference between Biblical Christians that take what God has said seriously and try to live by it and Christians that are conformed to the world and care more about being liked by non-believers that being obedient to God's Word and sharing Hs truth.

if you're such a non-conformist then what the hell are you doing on the internet? when does the base for conformity start? wouldn't it be when the bible was written? shouldn't you be living your life only how the bible describes a life being lived? you are conforming to your world be being here, by using technology, by being a part of public discourse. didn't Christ tell his followers to go 'door to door'? i find it utterly fascinating how you try to use scripture to your advantage whilst at the same time cutting your argument down at it's roots. that's the problem with using scripture in argument - especially if you don't fully glean it's meaning - or just try to appropriate it to the meaning you are attempting to convey. half of your scriptures listed there don't even apply to your argument, it's as if you're using a bible search tool on the internet to pull related quotes.

Judging again br? You have no idea what anyone's relationship is to God.

Is that your judgement? Oh and by the way, I never claimed to know anyone's relationship with Christ. Why do you state things that one has never said?

That being said, the whole world can see one's fruits.

Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Christians are called to be salt and light to the world through their testimony, the way they live their lives, and through spreading the Gospel.

Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

You need to learn what the word judging means. You've got the judging down...but then you misapply the label. And for someone that wants to stay on topic...you seem to find a time to argue off topic when you think there will be no response.

Nope. Wrong. It's Biblical Scripture and as a Biblical Christian you should abide by the Biblical Scripture. Isn't that how you model you life? Or just when it's suitable to your agenda? Because you can't have it both ways.

I'm a Christian...and a strong Christian. There is no doubt...but if I didn't have strong faith....I can say with all honesty that you would indeed influence me......but not to follow what you believe. Quite the opposite.;)

Ah you wish to misapply Scripture as well. No one on a message board knows anything about another person's relationship with God. And to come in and judge others is not Christ like and something he warned against. Apparently that text is missing from some Bibles.

I personally do not eve wish to discuss anything with you at all. We are of two entirely different faiths. Oh? Misapplying Scripture? Funny you come to mention that. See, Matthew 7:2 says: "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." And Matthew 18:15-17 says - "Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican."

For the nth time, no one has ever stated that they can know one's hearts or their relationship with Christ. You keep bringing up that red herring. Now you have resorted to the old standby, the "judge not" defense while using it to judge others. I really suggest that you study the doctrine of Biblical judgement before pulling out that tired old defense. Confronting error with the Word of God is not judgement, it is rebuke and reproof. It is what Christians are called to do. Feel free to not do this but you have no authority to judge Christians that do confront error, especially based on your incorrect understanding of the doctrines of Biblical judgement, rebuke, and reproof.

Apparently the quote is taken out of context or misinterpreted if you think that backs you up. It's actually against judging. "judge not lest ye be judged"....."let him without sin cast the first stone". You need to read the context to understand the meaning. Jesus was telling them...more than once not to judge others. That is for He alone to do. Your quote is a warning against judging as well.;)

Should I bring up your post about ungodly music? That is indeed judgment. Not that you were ever clear on what exactly is ungodly music but I'm guessing it's music you don't like. You have also judged other Christans as not true Christians...should I bring up those posts? Your words belie what you say with indignation now. But they are there for all to see.

He did not "attack" your faith. You use statements like tht for dramatic effect. He stated that Catholicism is not the same as Biblical Chritianity which is true. Even the Catholic Church acknowledges that. We cannot be responsible if you do not even know your Church's positionon its doctrine. You then accused implied that he did not know what it means to be a Christian.

1Th 4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

I have told you over and over that this thread is not the place to discuss the differences between Biblical Christinity. I have also told you that if you want to debate those differences then pick a place and time. I will be glad to do that with you.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Did you miss the "go and tell him his fault" bit? How are you to do that if you can't decide whether he has done something wrong?Lansdowne5
TSorry, buy you're wrong. Those are two different contexts. Judging in wrong. It is okay to tell your brother he owes you the debt he owes. That is a trespass. It's not judging. He owes you money. Note: I'm using money as an example of what a trespass may be...not saying it was the only way to interprete a tresspass. A tresspass is a transgression. That is not the same as judging him. This conversation is pointless if you don't find the diffeences in the two. Telling someone they are less of a Christian is a judgement...they have made no trespass against you. And thus, the text is inappropriate in this case.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Ah you wish to misapply Scripture as well. No one on a message board knows anything about another person's relationship with God. And to come in and judge others is not Christ like and something he warned against. Apparently that text is missing from some Bibles.LJS9502_basic

"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." - John 7:24 "Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear." - Timothy 5:20 We are not called to judge others with our own opinions, but we 'are' called to judge others in light of God's word.
