And what about McCain supporting torture, and Gautanamo Bay?

Habeus Corpus anyone?

McCain doesn't support torture and wants to close Guantanamo.

He voted to allow torture just this year-

Obama supports wiretapping (privacy), abortion (life, although this doesn't concern me but unborned babies), and gun control (right to bear arms).

1. Obama joined a filibuster that blocked Bush's version of the Patriot Act (Something Obama was against in the first place), which would have given up even more of our liberties.

2. The right to a choice in aborting a mass of cells is a libert in and of itself, and restricting that desicion which would relieve the stresses of unworthy parents is not at all anti liberty.

3. God, i feel like I'm in 1799. Gun rights? This is a voting issue? What a joke. the Constitution was penned in an era where there was no police or army corps, and it was every man for himself. The Second Amendment is outdated and is a joke.

Get your facts straight before you talk

I only posted facts. ;)

1. Bush's version. He still supports wiretapping.

2. The act to take away a mass of cells such as yourself is not a liberty.

3. The Second Amendment is vague. I'm not for or against it the Second Amendment. I was merely posting facts.

The only things he ha suggested was to make getting guns alot harder to get.. For odvious reasons.. And to ban certain types of guns with in certain zones, such as city limits.. Or perhapes near school areas.. It seems quite rational to me.

McCain supports alot of horrible stuff. I honestly think Obama would be better off going as a centrist against McCain. Be fiscally conservative and socially liberal and he would IMO grab up alot of the right and all of the left that doesn't vote third party.

You missed alot. Namely states rights, which is explicitly guranteed in the constitution. Every single right possible that is not guranteed in the constitution to the federal government belongs to state government. This means public healthcare and education are unconstitutional.

When will you understand? Federal regulation is what has kept this country strong (New Deal). I hate you "libertarians", flouting states rights when federal action would be more appropriate.

Sorry, but the constitution says otherwise, and thats far more important than anything you have to say.

Nope, you're wrong.

(Art. I, Sec. VIII, paragraph 18 )

The clause stipulates that Congress may pass any laws "necessary and proper" to carry out the powers vested in the various government agencies.

Essentially saying that Congress can pass a law overuling any state's law if it is deemed "necessary and proper".

Yeah...to carry out the powers the federal government is given in the constitution. All other rights belong to the state. See: The Tenth Amendment. Which means socialized healthcare, abortion and gay marriage should be dealt with on a state level.

This is becoming a "loose" interpretation and "strict" interpretation of the Constitution debate.

I'll just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I will say though that you shouldn't expect full state's rights and a weakening of the federal government anytime soon. The south deciding to secede because their "state right" to slavery was threatened screwed you

Yeah unfortantely McCain bent over for that issue.. I think it was just because he wanted to run for president.. No matter what, no canidate is a real mavrick to their parties views when running for president, because in the end you will not win.. Thats why people like Ron Paul with his outlandish views had little support from the party.. Hopefully if McCain is put into office he shows his true colors as a more moderate politician.. And thats probably the main reason why he chose Palin, so he can reel in the support of the entire republican party..

Communism isn't all that bad.

Especially for the people who can't afford to feed their children :)

You know our country has never been so close to a communist country than it is today.

No more starving homeless!!!!!! I can't say I like communism, but it would really help the 21% of the nation's children living in poverty.

Ignorant Fool. Do you know why the Constitution was created, you history major, you? TO ACHIEVE A STRONGER CENTRAL GOVERNMENT. Like the guy above me said, if it were up to youRepubs, we'd still be under the Articles of Confederation (something that was run exclusively by states with no federal government involvement, and which failed miserably). Go read a history textbook before you start running your mouth.

First of all, I am not a Republican. And most Republicans don't think like me. Most Republicans are Neo-Cons who love Big Brother and the Patriot Act as well as slaughtering innocents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Also, allowing the states to have power is part of the checks and balances system....you know what that is right? Probably not.

Not really, there are alot of different froms of government that we see today as bad..

That being said, you guys are freaking stupid to think its a communistic country.. Obama's polices are far from anything close to some of the policies that were used in history.. Sedition act any one? It barred freedom of speech and jailed any one who said anything that did not support WW1.

Communism isn't all that bad.sSubZerOo

Actually it's probably the worst form of government imaginable.

The Patriot Act. That's all I have to say.

[QUOTE="cool_baller"]If anybody can do it, McCain can.-Austin-

I'd hope so...but with the way things are going now it's not going to happen. I won't be too thrilled if Obama wins, I know that much.....

Well Obama is black, and there have been polls the day before elections where the black person is 10% ahead and he still looses. CNN did a special on how this can affect it. If he get 4% less votes, like CNN said he might, that will swing like 6 or 7 states to Mccain

I'm skeptical on this whole....racist white people lying about supporting Obama thing, but who knows.

When you see some old lady at the McCain's convention calling Obama a Arab.. I am quite sure race will be a issue.. Seeing as we have never had a black man as president ever..

Communism isn't all that bad.

Especially for the people who can't afford to feed their children :)

You know our country has never been so close to a communist country than it is today.

No more starving homeless!!!!!! I can't say I like communism, but it would really help the 21% of the nation's children living in poverty.

=[

Ugh...Our country is screwed.

Zorn_Ate_Thorn

Communism sounds like a great idea in theory, but in practice it just doesn't work because it demands that people put the good of the country ahead of themselves, and that just goes against our nature.

Do you know what our country is facing right now? It isn't like every communist leader is (or would be) a tyrant. I wonder what the world is going to be like in 100 years. I wonder if there will ever be one world leader (maybe a group of leaders?)

YOU like the growing gap between the rich and the poor? That isn't the case, is it? How would you run a country? I'm curious.

Because popular vote really decides who our next President is, oh wait -- that's right; it doesn't.

Patrioit act thought awful I agree, and wish it would be dismantled.. IS IN NO way as bad as the sedition act.. They convicted and jailed a guy that wrote a article saying taxation would be more efficent then liberty bonds.. Why? Because they accused his article of disuading people from buying the said bonds..

The popular vote in swing states, however, does.

Electoral college, buddy. We pick the electors, they pick the President. Even in a democrat state, the electors can still vote for a member of a different party if they so pleased.

Come on guys really? Polls never indicate anything. It's one thing to vote when it doesn't count, and it's another when it does.

I don't particularly like either candidate, but if Obama is elected, prepare for a socialist capital hill. And let me tell you, socialism DOESN'T WORK. It didn't work for the Russians, and it won't work here. In America, you get what you pay for, and you can only count on what you earn.

Change for change's sake is never a good thing.

That said, McCain isn't my favorite, but in this case it's the lesser of two evils.

Libertarians want to let Wall Street take over the country by limiting government regulation. Look what Reaganomics got us: a critical number of mortgage failures and a falling economy. Registered Libertarians are also the most well-to-do people in the U.S. on average. They're crazy.

I've corrected you on this before.

Communism isn't a form of government, it's an economic system.

Amen. This post is pretty much exactly how I think.
