I'm getting really tired of explaining to people why Bill Ayers isn't a legitimate terrorist.

You DO remember prior to his involvement in The Weather Underground that he was a student activist, and advocated standard protests. It was only when there was no response from government officials that he and a few others formed the group. They eventually realized they weren't getting anything done, but the act of standing up to a non-responsive government and getting your message across instead of giving up and lowering your head probably isn't something a man like Ayers would allow himself to do. He had an opinion, and won't make apologies for it. Does he wish he got his message across stronger so the government would bring the troops back earlier? Of course, but they didn't and he realizes that.

His line that he doesn't "want to discount the possibility" of the same kind of actions holds true to his stance that if push came to shove, he'd fight for what he believes in. Just like him saying he wished he could have done more to help bring the troops back.

I personally don't think the bombings were the best idea, because looking back at the active administrations, it seems painfully clear they didn't give a crap about what the population thought in terms of the war. They had plans and were going to follow through no matter what. Does a non-responsive government deserve protest? Of course, because the people put the government in power, and should be able to take that power away if they please, and should be able to influence the decision-making in the government. Did the administration back then deserve the destructive protests TWU brought upon them? Probably not, as I feel non-destructive/violent protests can accomplish the same goals, but if the government doesn't listen to its people, then they deserve some feedback on it. Were TWU a terrorist group? Maybe to federal officials, but they sure weren't inspiring fear in the public. They weren't threatening lives, and they didn't take lives. They made sure that no one was in harm's way.

If the government made a terrible decision, or a series of terrible decisions that vastly worsened the lives of the American populace to the point where something of a martial law was passed, then I'm sure Ayers would be at it again, but anyone with any sense in their head would be too.

Ayers, ever since the legal case against him was dismissed, has had a respectable career. What he's done in more recent years is exponentially more relevant than what he did way back when. He's worked hard in the education system. He's about making the government accountable for itself, and making the government turn an ear to young voters. He's about getting kids active in politics and world issues, like he was at that age.

This is a man who thinks his own countries national anthem is offensive.
