Rock is the most diverse genre, because it so general, as someone else said (The Cure Guy)...Just compare any Alt. Country Rock (Silver Jews) versus something more synth driven like Erase Errata.

I can tolerate almost anything, but Country and Gangsta Rap, I cannot, and the ironic thing is, they are the complete antithesis of each other.

I will happily listen to Jamaican Dancehall or Klezmer...

Don't know about Agalloch, but such vocals can potentially ruin even the best instrumental work.

It's rare that music will cause me to turn it off because I can't actually bear to listen to it. But I am very disinterested in simplistic music in general. That describes a great deal of music written throughout the ages...

Rap, R&B, Soul, and Jazz. Those are pretty much the only things that make me take a flying leap at the radio knob to change it.

I really don't listen to broadcast FM radio at all so it's very rare that I'm made to suffer listening to those things.

Internet radio FTW!!!

What music do you consider simplistic?

I'm asking because you've differentiated between "simplistic" and "simple" in the past.

I'm fairly tolerant of all sorts of music and I have pretty wide interests so it's hard for me to completely write off an entire genre of music. I suppose lite jazz (Rippingtons, Kenny G) is probably my least favorite although that's not to be confused with cool jazz and easy listening singers of classic standards (June Christy, Julie London) which I love quite a bit.

They're just not. What the heck is emo anyway?

Edit: Also, there are Screamo and Emo Violence (read: Power Violence) bands that would make your average Metal band from various subgenres sound...a little banal. Sometimes music has something, and a lot of Metal lacks it (though you could argue that they often make up for it in talent.) ;)

For the most part I will just listen to whatever I like. If It comes on and I like it I don't really care what genre it is in. Although I have noticed I like barely any Rap or Country. Just don't care for it.

Today's -core bands, not the good Hardcore Punk bands from the day (Refused for example), Rap, Hip Hop, Trance and Country. I can enjoy most other stuff, from Metal to Progressive to Classical to Electro/Industrial.

I can't stand any rap music, any band where their hair is unevenly cut (they tend to all be very untalented imo), pop music, et cetera.
