[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"][QUOTE="Ace6301"]They passed the outrageous security check points at the airport (probably with extra scrutiny), they should be allowed to fly. Racist pilot is racist, not much else to it.Ace6301
Did the pilots say that their race was superior?

Well their race/religion gets to fly so in a way maybe they did.

That doesn't mean that they said/implied that their race was superior :?

[QUOTE="red12355"] Right, instead of trying to solve to problem at the root lets just keep going to war and hope it goes away.

Victorious_Fize

Well, when one side of the argument/issue/debate starts from the premise "we want to kill you all", it sure makes finding a starting point for the discussion a bitackward.

"Gee mahmood, if we promise to throw our ally Israel aside and let you massacre them and push them in to the mediterranean, will you please stop trying to kill us? Pretty please?"

Nah. I'd rather pay taxes for bombs and bullets and see if we can just kill them all.

Ohahahahahah, now that's just hilarious.

I honestly thought you had something more to it than that, but you really are just stereotyping and don't get it at all.

You are correct. I do not get it at all. I don't get a culture that trains 12 yr old boys to strap on a bomb, walk in to a crowd of strangers and blow himself up.

I don't understand a culture that thinks its ok to use mentally handicapped people as bomb mules.

I don't understand a culture that stones a woman to death for being raped.

I do understand that almost without exception, everytime one of these acts is committed, those behind it claim the cloak of islam as their justification and motivation.

I also understand that now I will get a bunch of responses telling me how ignorant I am because I don't understand what true islam is. Fine. You are right, I don't. But not being an adherrant of that faith, why should I? Go teach the true tenants of your peace-loving religion to those who claim to be followers, but seem to have missed out on the peace-loving part.

You don't understand Islam.

There are portions of their holy text that say that
"Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can."
"And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression."

By our media defaming Islam, and People such as yourself doing the same. You're in turn oppressing the Muslim people. Perhaps if you were to stop, and the media would stop. They would as well.
However you clearly don't understand anything about it.
So please, just put your head in the sand where it can do no harm.

Not saying it gets a "free pass" I'm just saying that people should be quiet when it comes to matters they clearly dont get. As they can do more harm than good.

I mean look at what Terry Jones's Koran burning did, it ****ed off an entire religion. Maybe if people didn't sit there poking at this group of people, they wouldn't view the west as they do.

Why do I bother reading these threads? I come in expecting a through tongue lashing of the ridiculousness of the pilot in escorting two men off the plane because of their religion, and instead people are rationalizing it? Unbelievable.

Wow.

The people that did all the killing were????? .................... muslims.

The people that told them all about ol pastor ass hat and got them all stirred up were????????.................... their local muslim leaders.

The people that got attacked and killed were in Afghanistan doing what???????????????........................ providing charity, building schools, providing training to the local police, etc etc.

Yes, lets blame the deaths of these 20+ innocents on the ass hat preacher in his Florida back yard burning a stupid book on his bbq grill. By all means, pastor ass hat should be brought up on accessory to murder charges. The actual killers?? Well, we just have to understand how pissed off they were and how that justifies their actions, apparently.

Dude, just stop.

I'm SAYING that if people would stop being hostile towards every muslim in the world, and if people would stop generalizing MAYBE they'd stop being so angry?
But no, the Media continues their "Muslims are Terrorists" escapade, idiots listen, idiots parrot what they say. Christian pastors try to claim Islam is the religion of terrorists, and think nothing of burning their holy book.

"Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression."

These Extremists are acting within the boundries of their religion, however they are EXTREMISTS.
Maybe if you'd stop oppressing them, they'd stop being hostile.

Bro your so right. Don't feel the need to keep responding to these guys who are saying otherwise. Blaming that dumbass pastor for the deaths is ridiculous. Burning the Koran would be like burning the American flag in another country, which happens alot, and us Amercians (christian, ahteist, mormon, jewish, etc.) don't get pissed and kill people. Face it, Islam is violent. It's not the midevil ages anymore, other religions have left a majority of their more extreme violent beliefs in the past. It's time Islam does as well.

Soooo, their actions are not justified, but they are within the boundries of their religion??

I cannot think of a single definition of oppression which would describe any action I have ever taken towards any muslim I have ever known.

Some time back we had an art exhibit, partially subisidized by tax money, that showed the virgin mary covered in elephant dung. Funny, but I don't remember the catholics going on any killing sprees.

Some time before that we had another art exhibit, again partially funded by tax payer money, that had a crucifix dipped in urine. Again, I just can't seem to recall how many people the angry catholics went out and murdered. Hmmmm. How many was it? Oh yeah, now I remember, NONE.

You are inferring that they are angry because we are hostile and generalize them? Do you even know how that came about in the first place? 9/11 started all of that stereotyping. It's not like one day everybody just decided to stereotype Muslims. And all you can think of is one random crack-pot pastor out of all of the years and all of the people in the West? You are reaching.

Nah, i'm just speaking truths.
Use your common sense, logic, and reasoning skills and you'll come to the same conclusion. Assuming you educate yourself in the matter first.
However there are those who simply listen to what their pastor or local news tells them, and they continue to make generalizations.

Good on the pilot.

Ohahahahahah, now that's just hilarious.

I honestly thought you had something more to it than that, but you really are just stereotyping and don't get it at all.

Nibroc420

Please stop.

To be fair, who cares what a book says? The only thing that matters is the actions of the followers. It's the difference between talking the talk and walking the walk.

I never said their actions were Justified.

I'm saying that by defaming their religion, and oppressing them, You're no better.

Their Koran says "Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression."

Nibroc420

Your reply didn't answer anything that I asked. You are saying that Muslims are angry because the West generalizes them... such as this current situation where the pilot removed those guys from the plane?

Well, when one side of the argument/issue/debate starts from the premise "we want to kill you all", it sure makes finding a starting point for the discussion a bitackward.

"Gee mahmood, if we promise to throw our ally Israel aside and let you massacre them and push them in to the mediterranean, will you please stop trying to kill us? Pretty please?"

Nah. I'd rather pay taxes for bombs and bullets and see if we can just kill them all.

The pilot can say goodbye to his job. You'rre well within your rights to feel uncomfortable, but the moment you act on those feelings without any reasonable suspicion, you're wrong and you're going to regret it.

Stop watching Fox News.

your right. entire countries that are dominated by that faith that are known terrorists breeding crowds is completely relevant to watching fox news or not. face facts extreme islam and what is view as islam in general is hell bent on death to america. this isnt up for debate its a real problem. there are those in charge of that religion that support death to america. and the peaceful islam whereever they are isnt really speaking out too much about it if they even are(well scratch that i have seen a few peaceful islamics on glenn beck....oh the irony of your statement)

I thought you said that you're open-minded. Doesn't seem to be the case.

"Racism is the belief that there are inherent differences in people's traits and capacities which are entirely due to their race, however defined, and which consequently justify those people being treated differently, both socially and legally." Yup. This is racism.

From dictionary.com:

A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

That isn't true at all. At my university I've taken a couple "ethnic studies" classes, and racism is the belief that one's race is superior to others. In fact, I have my textbook right here. Here are some definitions for you: Racism: False linkage between biology and sociocultural behavior to assert the superiority of one race. Prejudice: A system of negative beliefs, feelings, and action orientations regarding a certain group or groups of people. So that is the word you are looking for. Prejudice. NOT racism. DroidPhysX is right. Prejudice is an attitude with an emotional bias. Acting on these emotions is called DISCRIMINATION. So the pilot is prejudiced, and he discriminated. Racism is not a part of that equation.

You or Ace6301 can argue the semantics all you want... but the fact of the matter is that you are wrong. Racism is linking biological make-up to sociocultural behaviors in order to assert the superiority of one or more races. Here is an excerpt from my textbook: When people believe that one race is superior to another because of economic advantages or specific achievements, racist thinking prevails. The subordinate group experiences prejudice and discrimination, which the dominant group justifies by reference to such invidious perceptions. In this book, we will discuss how not only blacks but also Native Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and even white southern Europeans have encountered hostility because of social categorizations of their abilities based simply on their physical appearance. Here is another excerpt giving an example of prejudice: Mr X: The trouble with the Jews is that they only take care of their own group. Mr Y: But the record of the Community Chest campaign shows that they gave more generously, in proportion to their numbers, to the general charities of the community, than did non-Jews. Mr X: That shows they are always trying to buy favor and intrude into Christian affairs. They think of nothing but money; that is why there are so many Jewish bankers. Mr Y: But a recent study shows that the percentage of Jews in the banking business is negligible, far smaller than the percentage of non-Jews. Mr X: That's just it; they don't go in for respectable business; they are only in the movie business or run night clubs. It's almost as if Mr. X were saying, "My mind is made up; don't confuse me with the facts." He does not refute the argument; rather, he ignores each bit of new and contradictory information and moves on to a new area in which he distorts other facts to support his prejudice against Jews.

Well they were removed more being muslim and middle eastern. To me if you think they're going to try and kill you because of that shows a belief they are lesser than you, at least morally. However racism is still the belief that a race can have an inherent trait to it (you know like middle easterners are going to blow up your plane). Seriously your arguing semantics but can't be bothered to actually read the definitions. Belief one is superior or inferior can be a part of it but isn't the whole thing. I like how BMD says I'm the one who is arguing semantics when you and droid are the ones who jumped on me with a semantics argument first.
