There's a fair amount of eroticism to much of Bouguereau's work, so yeah, I think it's possibly that he was at least cognascant of the thought that some right be turned on by it.

Islam means submission, not peace. I don't know who thought it meant that. It's a peaceful religion yes, the Quran tells men and women to dress modestly. This is more inline with middle eastern culture (Turkey is part of the middle east too).

It always amazes me how much hate is woven into religions, particularly the monotheistic religions. In Denmark some years ago, some company (I don't know if it was a Danish company) launched beach sandals, with the picture of the blessed Mary. While most Danes where in general indifferent about it, Arab Chrisitans living in Denmark, protested. Quite loudly.

Take the prophet cartoons, boycots and major happened in the middle east, in Indonesia you didn't get much response. Indonesian is the country with the largest muslim population.

Or, we could stop this irrational hatred of the entirety of the worlds 1.6 billion Muslim population, and instead focus on how we can stop radicalism of all kinds, including the very real problem of Radical Islam.
