I don't count firearms as a basic right for everyone to purchase. Then again, I'm not an American.

Again, I think people should be free to own WHATEVER they want, no matter where in the world they live, so long as they have the means and the purpose for it. Obviously, we can take this to hypothetical extremes to the point of absurdity (i.e. civilians acquiring nuclear armaments legally) and argue for several pages, but I'm not into that sort of thing.
I'll just say that I respect your right to your perspective, and you can choose whether or not my view is respectable and that can be that.:)
