Sheriff's deputies raided two Sizzler steak house restaurants in Phoenix on Saturday, arresting nine employees who are suspected of being illegal immigrants and using fraudulent documents to get jobs.

The raids were part of a yearlong investigation into whether the operators of the two Sizzler locations broke a civil law by knowingly hiring illegal immigrants, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Lt. Brian Lee said in a statement.

"This is another example of a case where desperately needed jobs are being occupied by illegal aliens who have disregarded our laws and our borders," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said in the statement.

While I dont entirely agree with the way things are being handled in Arizona when it comes to illegal aliens, I don't have a problem with them busting those who are taking jobs from legal citizens. That's something that every state should be doing.

I don't like this at all. People shouldn't be demeaned and treated this way just because they are not from this country. Legality of being in this country and being employed is not an issue in my eyes. If the US fixed it's economy there would be more jobs for people. If Mexico was 'fixed' they would have no reason to come here. Simply going after one "illegal" at a time is not going to solve the "problem".

Well, I don't care as long as they aren't being hired .If they want to stay in America, they are going to have to live on the ultra low end and receive no support from the United States.

hey, americans took Texas, Califronia and all the states in between from Mexico from Mexico. As far as I am concerned, America wanted those states and took them. Its your problem that you basically F**ked Mexico leaving it with some sh*thouse states lacking in the gold and oil that would have made either the U.S aor Mexico rich. Congratulations on Americans for taking over and becoming the biggest American power, but this is just another example of suprisingly long-term consequences of war...(What I am saying is tat you kind of bought it down on yourselves 150-200 years ago. :P )

This is an interesting perspective. I am an American living in Texas, so I see what you're talking about every day. Tons of people around here are Mexican.. some here legally, some not. What you said is essentially true.

Even funnier, we got Texas through Americans illegally immigrating there for a better life. After the Mexican government said no more Americans, they kept sneaking in and etc.

LOL history is funny sometimes.

Even funnier that California and Texas are the two economic, agricultural, and natural resource powerhouse states. Maybe if Mexico had never lost them things would be different for both the U.S.and Mexico.

I'm dismayed by the lack of compassion for illegal immigrants. I understand the need to deport them, but there's no need to be harsh or unkind when talking about it.

Its apathy really. Most people are pi**ed off at the prospect of jobs being taken by "illegals". They feel as if they were born better and greater and on a basic level would not like to lose that to others. This causes a lot of the hate, whilst the rest is mostly apathy because its just a continual cycle where the immigrants don't actually get hurt by the police so its considered okay-ish. Most would rather worry about almost everything else than illegal immigrants...

Illegal immigration is a problem. I still don't know why you have to be so harsh when speaking about illegal immigrants, though. They're your fellow human beings, not spawn of the devil. Try to have some compassion for their situation. Try to imagine if the shoe was on the other foot.

Some of these people were desperate and living in areas stricken with poverty and violence, so they tried to escape it. Can you really blame them?

I suppose we just have different levels of compassion/pity that we feel for others.

NotedSheriff means a well known Sheriff. Maybe Arizona doesn't have Marshals nor Rangers. Maybe Arizona has a State Sheriff as well as county Sheriffs. That's what I would Assume. Some Countys don't even have constables. All of the City's within are policed by Chief Deputies.

[QUOTE="the_new_guy_92"] What country did you immigrate from?lyeti

Germany.

I can assure that your hatred for illegal immigrants is baseless. Emigrating to U.S from germany=/= emigrating from Mexico. Its basically impossible, and to remain in mexico is just not viable o the most basic levels for many people. You think that because you could emigrate from Germany, that means everybody can? You had a bunch of choices of where to emigrate from, mexicans have the U.S as the only gateway for what is merely a Chance at a better life. They also prop up failing businesses and provide more profits for the economy in a trickle down effect. And the large number of american's who would rather live off welfare and go continually bankrupt means that there are actually many businesses which actually don't even get that many applications. Illegal immigrants are basically the equivalent to almost slave labour and that is always beneficial for the economy. They pay for lard-ass lazy americans and pensioners, which is what the governments of the U.S, Aus and U.K are too ashamed too admit.

It's not personal. They just need to get out of my country and obtain legal citizenship, if they can't do that then they have no place to be here. It's simple as that. If you can't respect my views, I don't really care. lol The United States isn't here to house Mexican citizens because the Mexican governtment is too freaking corrupt to fix their problem.

i agree. i know a lot of people who want to live in the usa and they have to undergo through a lot of legal stuff just to get to live there. so these illegal immigrants are actually pissing on not just americans but people who also want to move there legally. so they should be busted out.

While you guys 'bust' illegals we give them 5-star hotel treatment while they are 'processed' and once they are we give them a house and welfare.

Kicking out a few immigrants is about as useful as suing four or five people for downloading music illegally. It does nothing to fix the problems.

We need to get this situation under control NOW, it's getting way out of hand. Something needs to be done, this can hurt the US badly economically. This is no situation to show sympathy towards, it will bite us in the ass.

Does suing someone for downloading the Hurt Locker without paying set an example? It does nothing at all. They need to address the broader problems, not ruin peoples lives who are just trying to work.

Mexico is never going to get fixed. Instead of staying down there and... idk, DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THE DARNED SITUATION, but they run like cowards. Deport them all back, and punish buisnesses that hire them severely.

You realize that pushing illegal immigrants on a large scale will ruin more "lives?. Furthermore, they all live a life which they ILLEGALLY obtained. Also, that's quite a comparison you made there! It's only relevant in the slightest sense possible. I seriously don't see your point. If you believe we should push illegal immigrants out of this country, you might want to get used to "ruining lives".

What reasson? People dont have enough money in their countries sometimes they die of starvation and you are telling me that its illegal for them to cross the border and find a better life for themselfs? Sure gansters and criminals should be deported but not the hard working ones, if it wasnt for em there wouldnt be any cheap labor in the states now, they help your country to get where it is today, you have no right to kick em out , infact Arizona was part of mexico some hundred of years ago but the US stole it from them.

Dude no one is being racist here. I doubt any of us have a problem with Mexicans.. I personally don't one of my best friends is Mexican and he agrees about the whole illegal immigration thing as well. Dare I say it, he's more extreme om the issue than I am...

[QUOTE="UbiquitousAeon"] You realize that pushing illegal immigrants on a large scale will ruin more "lives?. Furthermore, they all live a life which they ILLEGALLY obtained. Also, that's quite a comparison you made there! It's only relevant in the slightest sense possible. I seriously don't see your point. If you believe we should push illegal immigrants out of this country, you might want to get used to "ruining lives".

Eh, at no point did i say we should push illegal immigrants out of this country. :? I said quite the opposite. And the comparison is a perfectly good one; both involve problems which nobody is making any sincere effort to fix, instead just focusing on punishing a tiny number of people which accomplishes nothing.
