[QUOTE="kingkong0124"] Oh... the irony. kingkong0124

Indeed. It's quite clear you haven't read the bible. The ultimate irony.

Good comeback. I love your subtle attack on the Bible by not capitalizing it during the sentence, which clearly denotes that you think it's unimportant. I've seen you do this multiple times with other things as well. Or maybe it was unintentional? Maybe it's your troubled subconscious showing?

If you are resorting to typing skill to insult someone, you must really be grasping at straws.

Focusing on an irrelevant aspect of an argument. Neat.

I focused on it above. The Bible says man should be permitted to only one wife. Nothing more. What are you going to cherry pick next?

This is happening repeatedly from this guy. I don't know if English is his second language or it's just that he didn't pay attention during grammar lessons.I'm going to go with none of the above and say that he's clearly doing this on purpose.

I can say what I want and do what I want, buddy boy. I speak here in a more casual than formal way (basically how I speak in real life). I was more referring to simply capitalization.

[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"][QUOTE="kingkong0124"] Because protecting marriage is truly a liberal concept. But, I think you should still vote for Romney regardless of your political viewpoint. Romney has the House and basically half the Senate. He can actually get sh*t done, unlike Mr. Obama who lacks bipartisan leadership skills. kingkong0124

How does one protect marriage? I mean, personally i draw some of my marriage views from the bible. You know, rapists marrying rape victim, men having 3 wives, etc. That's the marriage we should truly protect. The ones from the Bible.

And we do. Sorry, the Bible does not contain anything like that. Next time, I'd suggest go to a preacher, who has really extensively studied the Bible, and consult him about it. He'll set you straight. Good job ignoring the last bit as well, you know I'm objectively right, but your bias is covering up your thought process.

You've never actually read the Bible have you?

There's rational reasons for every single one of these "things" you cherry-pick out. Instead of consulting me on every little issue (and in a thread, mind you, that has nothing to do with the Bible whatsoever), I'd suggest you hit up your local church. Or, read up on reputable sites, not something like "Deists 101".

Everything he pointed out is, in fact, allowed by God at various points in the Bible. And sorry, but it's not my job to educate you on your holy book.

I agree with church and state seperation. But do you think we should allow cannibalism? It's been a tradition in all Western civilized nations throughout history that cannibalism is not permitted, often by religion. So do you agree we should give civil liberties to cannibals, avoiding tradition that has been with us for hundreds of years?

Funny how this kingkong loser is so adamant about banning something that has absolutely not effect on him whatsoever. And to try and even remotely support his claims, he resorts to using the bible. All credibility is lost there. XD

And you do realize that marriage was conceived way before christianity was ever conceived right? Christianity is only 2,ooo years old so don't make it sound like christianity created marriage. Leave the bible out of this, man up and try debating without using your fake stories. Oh wait... you probably cant.

I agree. It's funny though, because if the Bible truly permits polygamy, then you would expect their followers to openly practice this as well. In other religions, like Islam and Mormonism, polygamy is permitted, and guess what, we have thousands upon thousands of documented cases to support this!

I thought you wanted separation of religion and state? This topic has nothing to do with Christianity. Marriages between men and women only are a universal theme, regardless of religion or geographic region.

The Bible specifically condemns adultery, a practice which is typical in our society. Polygamy is not officially condemned in the Bible, and no longer has legal status. Not every moral argument arises from the Bible. And not every moral argument from the Bible is still followed today.

@Everyone Funny how this kingkong loser is so adamant about banning something that has absolutely no effect on him whatsoever. And to try and even remotely support his claims, he resorts to using the bible. All credibility is lost there. XD

@KingKong0124 And you do realize that marriage was conceived way before christianity was ever conceived right? Christianity is only 2,ooo years old so don't make it sound like christianity created marriage. Leave the bible out of this, man up, and try debating without using your fake stories. Oh wait... you probably cant.

SkullCrusher04
Okay, SkullCrusher (pleasant name by the way), marriage has always been defined with man and woman in civilized societies. I agree, this has nothing to do with Christianity. This has to do with universal tradition. All successful civilizations defined marriage between a man and a woman.

[QUOTE="kingkong0124"] It's true. You want to give cannibals civil liberties? kingkong0124

Yes. Clearly I'm saying that I want to give people the liberty to engage in cannibalism. F*ckwit.

I thought you wanted separation of religion and state? This topic has nothing to do with Christianity. Marriages between men and women only are a universal theme, regardless of religion or geographic region.

Christ, you can't even keep up with a coherant argument.

[QUOTE="kingkong0124"][QUOTE="Amazon-Blight"] Pretty sad to be honest. I could easily convert people to away from any religion I want if I cherry picked quotes to my advantage. jimkabrhel

I agree. It's funny though, because if the Bible truly permits polygamy, then you would expect their followers to openly practice this as well. In other religions, like Islam and Mormonism, polygamy is permitted, and guess what, we have thousands upon thousands of documented cases to support this!

The Bible specifically condemns adultery, a practice which is typical in our society. Polygamy is not officially condemned in the Bible, and no longer has legal status. Not every moral argument arises from the Bible. And not every moral argument from the Bible is still followed today.

Logic tells you that if polygamy is not condemned in the Bible, there would be thousands of reported cases on this. There obviously isn't.

Traditions change and people and society evolve. In Roman culture, it was acceptable and common practice for men to take younger male lovers as a sign of their power and virility.

Good, there's been enough beating around the bush. It's time we got over this already, if you don't want to support gay marriage then fine, but stop imposing your religious beliefs on others.

Please cite the case in which the Supreme Court ruled that the Ten Commandments are to be posted on government buildings.

I don't care about one geographic isolation of this practice. I'm talking big picture here.

No, it's really not. You support marriage among preteens? If you do (something most people in the world do), this goes against tradition.

Actually the native americans had no qualms with people taking spouses of the same sex. Try making an argument that doesn't rely on just pulling things out of your ass.

Yes, I'm a f*cking troll. You got me! You should be a detective for the FBI!.. If you disagree with me, that's fine, I don't care, but don't make blatant assumptions. Especially when you and gang of atheists (Praline, Funky, Blood, you, etc.) are much better characterizations of a troll.
