[QUOTE="jim_shorts"]Very well done, good thread. I'm so excited for this thing I can hardly stand it. Am I the only one that hates the electoral college?Maniacc1

It's weak, I'm not a big fan. Whatever happened to the winner being decided based on who got the most votes? :|

I've always found it odd that a nation founded on the idea of democracy has such an unfair and undemocratic electoral system, really. Same in the UK.

Whenever the polls close, the results usually start coming in within 30 minutes. It starts on the east coast of course and continues along until it ends at Alaska I believe.

Same night as the election. If you look at the OP, it shows you the times that the individual states are expected to post their results. You often know who has won the election before all the votes are even counted.

Depends on the state. Once polls close, some states are faster than others. Cities tend to take longer than rural areas, which is why the Republican candidate usually starts out well and then slides down as the night carries on.

New Mexico has the dubious distinction of being the most incompetent state in the union at counting votes, so don't expect final results from them anytime soon.

Ha, you're so right! Here in New Mexico we finally decide the winner months later. :P

Can we maybe get an Obama/McCain poll? :) It'd be interesting to see what gamespot's final verdict is.

I don't think it's true. :P Especially not this year, nearly everyone I know has come out and said who they voted/are voting for.

Breaking:

Palin cleared of all charges.

It's too bad she had to put up with this crap when she should have been focusing on spreading McCain's message. At least she cleared this up completely so it doesn't turn up in 2012.

If 3/5 of people hate Palin now as VP, what makes you think she will win the presidency in 2012?

Ban guns (or at least make ammo $5 a round if not ban) so when I have free time I can't shoot my guns at the range or hunt and he'll eventually remove economical status which could led to all extra money going straight to uncle sam which some of his fellow democratic senate mates are pushing right now as we speak....... All thats just a start

I can't believe that the reason why people are not voting for Obama, is because they think he is a socialist and a communist. Ignorance is full abundance.

Yes actually it kinda is when you think about it and nope there's nothing logical about taxing a group of people who pay close to 80% of the total taxes even more just because they work harder for it

Everyone in this thread has been ignoring a very important issue.

Barack Obama's name.

No, not his middle name, but his first name. Particularly, the spelling of his first name. All throughout this crapshoot of an election have I seen voters, Liberal and Conservative alike, spell it "Barrack."

No more.

This is a barrack:

A building for soldiers, especially when in garrison. Commonly in the plural, originally meaning temporary huts, but now usually applied to a permanent structure or set of buildings.

You sleep in a barrack. A barrack is not running for president.

This is a Barack:

Pronounced "BUH-ruhtsk", is a type of Hungarian brandy (Pálinka) made of (or flavored with) apricots.

You drink a Barack. While this particular booze is refreshing and could make a damn fine president of America, it is unfortunately unable to run a campaign, due to being a native of Hungary.

This is another Barack:

The junior United States Senator from Illinois and presidential nominee of the Democratic Party in the 2008 United States presidential election.

You vote for this Barack. This is the one you guys are talking about. "B-A-R-A-C-K." Barack Obama.

Most of that was "no there wrong because he said this _____" just like I said, they base most of it on vague and carefully chosen statements that he has said in the past. I laughed when they said "the bill was only for armour peircing rounds". Do they want use to go hunting or protect are house with 9mm and .22 are whole life :P

[QUOTE="mastershake575"][QUOTE="Chargeagles1"]I can't believe that the reason why people are not voting for Obama, is because they think he is a socialist and a communist. Ignorance is full abundance. mastershake575

I can believe that alot people are voting for obama ibecause he's black, going to bring this so called change, or just because he's democratic ..... And have you read his tax plan ? Tax the rich and lower the taxes of any below them so its fair for everyone....... Uh thats called communism

There's a great website called factcheck.org, you should check it out sometime. ;)

Why would I ? His tax plan came straight from him and his campaign site....... ?

Sorry, that was mostly in reference to your gun statement. Quoted the wrong thing.

All that website told me was someone making up a story. Obama still voted for 11 anti-gun bills in his sort term in office, is endorsed by some of the largest gunban/anti-hunting groups in the world and gets away from factchecks because they just base it off of his vague and carefully chosen statements

There's this one too.

Most of that was "no there wrong because he said this _____" just like I said, they base most of it on vague and carefully chosen statements that he has said in the past and I laughed when they said "the bill was only for armour peircing rounds". Do they want use to go hunting or protect are house with 9mm and .22 are whole life

I still have a hard time believing Obama or his administraion will strip you of your guns.

Bubububu what if i don't want to vote for the Barack?

Never did I say they will come around and take all of them away. What they will do is only sell 9mm ammo and charge use $5-$10 a single round for ammunition which the last democratic president would of had happened if the senate and house was in majority
