Republicans have an unbreakable lock with a solid House majority - the Senate is a "maybe".

Winning one is great, both houses would be superb...then the American Bald Eagle would no longer have broken wings, and would be able to soar proud and free once again.:P

Republicans will probably win the house but the Democrats will in all probability hold on to the senate. The country is going to be worse off as a result of this election regardless.

Republicans are definitely getting the house. Angle beats Reid. Literally nothing happens over the next two years as the economy recovers. Tea Party disappears because being that angry for so long is exhausting. Chris Christie will win the presidency in 2012 and remove all public transportation and give our teachers a salary cap of 10K a year.

Only if you blindly support the democratic party. Clinton lost a midterm election during his first term, yet, most people consider him to be one of the most successful recent presidents - if you ignore the dot.com market melt down.

I'm predicting around 50 house seats and 7 senate seats for Republicans. So we'll gain control of the House but not quite the Senate. And you should listen to my prediction, because i'm an expert.

Well I don't consider Clinton to be one of the most successful recent presidents - in fact in many respects I have a much lower opinion of him than either his predecessor or his successor. Nor do I blindly support the democratic party, but as a result of this election and the political climate the things that need to get done to better not only this country but the world as a whole are not going to get done. In fact things are probably going to get worse, and there's not much of a sliver lining.

I'd still vote for him over someone like Angle. Though she's lucky (as I am) that I don't live in Nevada.

Sadly, it would be difficult to defeat DeMint here, no matter who ran against him.

Not a single one. DeMint isn't advertising either. I guess he doesn't feel the need to. Greene does have this.

Wow. He's like the Democratic Tea Party candidate. Nothing he says is based in reality or makes any sense.

Hmm. I guess he has received more local and national TV coverage than most other candidates. All without having to spend a dime. (though he probably had to buy that suit I guess)

The race would have been competitive if Vic Rawl had won the nomination. I still believe that Greene is an agent of the Republicans. The story behind where he got the money and his refusal to leave the race EVEN after he was charged with a lewd act is just too scripted.

Do you think Sheheen can win against Haley though?

Sheheen and Hailey will be close, too close to call at the moment. She has a slight advantage, but you never know. Sheheen's campaign has gasined some big momentum the last two weeks. As for Greene, who knows his real deal.

I still don't see how showing an adult pornography is a criminal act. (note: I do not support nor endorse going into college computer labs and showing students pornography)

I think is is considered the same as flashing someone these days. Probably has to do with the stricter sex offender laws. If convicted, Greene will be a sex offender the rest of his life.

I would consider their stance on issues much more heavily than I would consider this type of pornography charge.

I'm not sure. His opponent had an onslaught of attack ads labeling him as Pelosi's stooge. That seems to be the in thing these days.

You know, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that with the advent of the Tea Party, the time is RIPE to split the national parties.

The Libertarians could grasp control of the Tea Party Republicans.

The Greens and Progressives can escape the power vacuum that theDemocrats create.

I'm pretty much sick of getting lack luster candidates for my non-presidential elections (presidential candidates are usually decent in most respects).

They weren't getting done before this election. Despite majorities in both houses.

For once I agree with you. The major parties have split before, and it's bound to happen again at some point. Though the Presidential race will probably still come down to two candidates in 90% of the elections, I don't see why voters for Congressional candidates have to stick to two major parties. Now if they can just put term limits on Congressional members. Which won't happen, since they'd have to pass a limitation on themselves. The only way I see it happening is with an Article V convention...

I think by far the most depressing thing in this election cycle is the almost certain defeat Russ Feingold faces. He's by far the best national politician in America today, and it would seem as though his integrity has finally caught up with him. :P

Very interesting to see what's going on here in Colorado, by the way. Dan Maes barely edged out Scott Mcinnis, who strongly favored immigration reform, for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. This cleared the way for Tom Tancredo to join the race representing the American Constitution Party. Tancredo and Maes both stayed close to eachother in the polls, but in the last few weeks Republicans have ditched Maes' ass for Tancredo. So the Republican guy is only polling at like 5%, while Tancredo, the independent, is only like 3 points behind John Hickenlooper. So if enough of those few people still holding out for Maes go for Tancredo tomorrow, he could win the damn thing. I'm less than enthusiastic about Tancredo though, myself.

Kinda seems similar to what happened in Connecticut when Lieberman lost his primary. I recall that the Republican's vote total was in the single digits there, too.

That Tancredo is just scary. From the way he speaks about the President (well to be honest the Republicans haven't been much kinder) to calling for a Civics Literacy test, I just find appalling that 43% of thepoll is with him.

He was defeated in the Democratic primary by Ned Lamont and then ran under the banner of the "Connecticut for Lieberman Party" (gag).

Here's an interesting piece from Nate Silver on why the Democrats may do better than expected. It's hardly a cause to celebrate but it's at least a glimmer of hope. :P

You realize of course that that's entirely hypothetical and that he did a piece a couple days ago on why the Republicans may do better than expected, and that he's not actually saying he expects that to be the case, yes? :P

You realize of course that that's entirely hypothetical and that he did a piece a couple days ago on why the Republicans may do better than expected, and that he's not actually saying he expects that to be the case, yes? :P

Of course I do (I saw that piece as well), but it's still a glimmer of hope. :P

I prefer not to hold out any hope on Election Day; that way I can only be pleasantly surprised by the results. :P

The House will be Republican controlled by the end of the day. The Senate will still be Democrat controlled, though.

I feel that the Republicans for sure will take the majority in the House and we have a good chance at taking the majority away from the Democrats in the Senate as well.

All I know is that if Greg Stillson wins, we're all in trouble. That's a future that should scare all of you.
